Overview

About the property

A five-minute stroll to downtown Three Oaks, Vickers Theatre, Featherbone Factory, Acorn Theatre, Journeyman Distillery, art galleries and unique shops—PERCH affords its guests a comfortable and contemporary experience that merges small town life and a country setting. It has striking architectural features embellished with unique and artistic furnishings and décor. Technology includes a 55” satellite television and fast speed internet.

Guests can spend their down time serenely gazing at the nearly 360-degree bird’s eye view of the pastoral setting (field, yard, forest, residential charm), perching within a hanging cocoon/ a hammock/ a vintage hotel chair while others play lawn games, grabbing a bundle of hula hoops for an impromptu dance party, enjoying a soak in the hot tub overlooking the vista, watching sports or movies on the big screen or master bedroom TV, peacefully relaxing in the numerous rocking chairs, reading poetry in bed while looking up at the Michigan stars as seen through skylight windows, sitting around the fire pit (which seats six), cooking dinner for the expansive family table or for something al fresco—on the deck, in the lovely small-town-dusk. Indeed, the perching possibilities are as endless as the sky itself.

PERCH has three and a half bedrooms (clad in 100% cotton bedding), including a master bedroom with en-suite bath and a loft space tall enough to stand in. It sleeps 6+ easily. Other spaces include a large living room; fully equipped kitchen with dishwasher, counters and stools; a dining area that can expand to seat 8-10; and a sunroom perfect for relaxing and enjoying the view. Perch contains these notable features: skylights in three rooms, a bathroom with a deep soaking tub/shower, master bath walk-in shower with soothing multiple jets, full size washer and dryer, collection of rocking chairs, board and lawn games, books of poetry, and the pleasing quiet of a country setting.

Outside enjoy the brand new hot tub (seats 6), the peaceful views, the large side and back decks, the ambience of the fire pit, the fun of playing outside in the expansive yards and the restful swinging of hammocks under the trees. Use the new classic Weber grill to make a meal and dine al fresco. All is thoughtfully fashioned to create the utter magic of a lazy vacation in a lovely cottage.

For wandering: take a brief and scenic drive to Lake Michigan’s beaches, to Warren Dunes, to kayak rentals by the Galien River, to adventure in the casinos, to other small towns’ restaurants and sidewalks, or simply along the many little highways of the region—leading to wineries, farmers’ markets, and ice cream shops.

About Anne Fleming

I have owned and managed rental property for over 30 years and have had a second home in Harbor Country for years. After retiring from teaching I decided to devote my energies to creating and curating a unique and satisfying vacation rental home. I have selected Perch’s supplies, décor, and art objects with the intent of creating a transcendent but easy space in which to relax: with friends, with family, in a large group or an intimate one, for special occasions or simply to escape. My family includes an historian, visual artists, and poets—and I have tried to translate that sensibility to this lovely cottage.

Why Anne Fleming chose Southwest Michigan

Three Oaks is an historic American small town with contemporary establishments. The town is five miles to the beaches of Lake Michigan and surrounded by picturesque farm fields. It is conveniently located to numerous destinations in Indiana and Michigan. When I saw this house I knew it was the perfect vacation rental property.

What makes this cottage unique

PERCH is extraordinary! The views are exceptional. Woods and farm fields combine to form the exceptionally peaceful vistas. The cottage itself has been splendidly updated to create a perfect getaway. It can be enjoyed in ALL seasons. The location and the amenities contribute to memorable experiences for all.

Guestbook comments from the owner

I used this house for a romantic getaway--and then a larger group of friends joined us. My partner and I loved the bedrooms and skylights, and the deck is awesome. The whole way it was decorated was cute. You can see a lot of birds from the deck. There is now a hot tub, but it wasn't there when we stayed. I will have to go back!

A lovely home in a very peaceful setting

My family and I had a lovely time at Perch. The house is spacious and the beds are all very comfortable. The kitchen is well-equipped and the bathrooms are amazing. We also enjoyed the beautiful yard and pleasant surroundings. We would definitely visit Perch again.

Perch 10/27-10/30

  • 5 of 5

Our stay at Perch was a very nice home away from home experience. We attended a wedding at Journeyman's and were pleasantly surprised at the short distance to Perch. Perch was clean & comfortable and I would highly recommend it to anyone staying in the Three Oaks area.

Amazing, clean and peaceful getaway.

  • 5 of 5

Great place. Clean and spaceious. Anne was nothing but helpful.

Almost extended my vacation another day to enjoy everything the house has to offer.

One word of warning, the hot water seems to often have a strong smell of sulfer.

A cute home in a quiet neighborhood is perfect for any occasion!

  • 5 of 5

This home was the perfect place for our event. A group of 8 girls stayed here for a bachelorette weekend. Everything was perfect from start to finish. Anne was more than accommodating and made the overall stay a memorable one. I'd highly recommend this beautiful place to anyone! I definitely plan to stay there again the next time I'm needing a place to stay while in Michigan.

Perfect Girls Weekend

  • 4 of 5

The house is beautiful and the yard could not be more private. When you sit on the deck there is not another house in site, just trees and an endless field. At night you could sit and watch the lighting bugs for ever. The house had more than enough room for the eight of us to sleep and the beds were very comfy. I agree about the water it took some getting use but it was fine. We do a girls weekend every year and this was one of our best. The owner was very easy to work with and we would definitely stay again.Thank you so much Anne.

Even better in person!

  • 5 of 5

We had a girls getaway here! There's so much more room and space than I thought from the pictures! Everything is clean and up to date! Such a quick 12 minute drive to New Buffalo! The well water smells much stronger than I've ever experienced but it wasn't the end if the world! Anne was super great and accommodating! I would definitely stay again!
