Our all new, centrally located, quiet Crested Butte home sits on two lots 1½ blocks off Elk Avenue, the popular main street in Crested Butte lined with colorful Victorian storefronts and restaurants of every variety. The historic home was extensively and elegantly renovated and enlarged in 2015 providing over 1,700 square feet of living space and a hot tub.
Great place any time of year. Quiet neighborhood, yet less than 2 blocks from center of Elk Ave, the main restaurant, bar and retail store scene. Walk or bike everywhere. Skiers heaven with Free shuttle to slopes 1/2 block away. Avoid long, cold walks to base area lugging your gear. Just hop on a warm bus and you are there in minutes.
With a large open living area, well appointed kitchen and dining area, 3 bedrooms and 2 full baths, laundry, mudroom, deck and patio, the home comfortably accommodates up to 8 guests. It has off street parking for 2 vehicles. You can leave the cars parked at the house and walk, bike or bus everywhere.
The original house was turned into one open living space that includes a great room with a vaulted ceiling and views of Mt. Crested Butte, an open kitchen with granite counter tops, a slate floor and a center island containing a gas range and counter seating for 3, plus an adjoining dining room with seating for 8 or more, a built in buffet and hard wood floors. There is a gas fireplace in the great room, which has a vaulted ceiling, with a large hi-definition TV viewable from the living room, kitchen and dining area. The house and yard have WIFI. Each bedroom has its own TV, and there is a supply of games for kids of all ages.
Off the great room downstairs is a private master bedroom with a king bed, a full bath with a tiled shower and a mudroom for skis and coats with a washer and dryer. The other two bedrooms are upstairs along with the second bath. One bedroom has a queen bed, and the other bedroom has 2 trundle beds easily accommodating either 2 adults or up to 4 children. The upstairs bath has a tub/shower combination, and the upstairs landing serves as a small office.
There is a large fenced side yard with a nice patio area, a gas grill and wonderful views of the mountain. Next door is a small public children’s park. Across the street from the park is the stop for the free Mountain Express shuttle bus to the ski resort that runs every 20 minutes during ski season and every 40 minutes the rest of the year. The Nordic Center is just a few blocks away.
Conditions: Minimum stay: 5 nights during holidays and 4 nights the rest of the year
Been going to Crested Butte since 1989. Bought an ownership in a ski condo on the mountain. Enjoyed the skiing, but began to love the summers just as much.
Jennifer Glasgow purchased this house in 2000
Over the years decided I preferred to be in town. Bought this house in 2000 and have been renting it out ever since. Completely expanded and renovated it in 2015. Perfectly situated just off Elk Ave with the shuttle bus stop 50 yards from the front door. Great views of the mountain from the living room and the yard.
All new, well appointed house. Park your car when you arrive and walk or take the shuttle bus everywhere else. Located in the historic district, but with all the comforts of a new house. Great family friendly home.
We would stay there again and again. Even after 3ft of snow fell in two days the property managers were on snow removal! Parking was a breeze, the hot tub was perfect!! So romantic and cozy and easy. What a fantastic home for a couple or a family!!
Great house in one of my favorite towns. We loved the new hot tub and the outdoor space. The house is wonderful and the location couldn't be better. Already booked it again for next summer - that sums it up!
The house is new, clean and well appointed in the middle of the historic area. The kitchen is well stocked with appliances, cookware, spices and dishes. Beds are comfortable and attractive. The Baths are newly updated with lovely linens. The location is excellent with only minutes to walk to restaurants, grocery stores and shopping in Crested Butte. The shuttle is 1/2 block from the front door and only a short 5 minute ride up the mountain to the ski area. I can't say enough about how much fun it was to stay a week in this lovely home.
We stayed here during the holiday week between Christmas and New Years and really enjoyed it. Comfortable and spacious for four people with a great dining area and living area. The kitchen was well kitted out and stocked with basics like oil and vinegar, salt and pepper, and some spices - the kind of thing you don't want to buy when you're on a short term rental. Off-street parking was very convenient -- the town has a strict policy for on-street parking due to the snow plowing schedule, and not having to worry about that is a big plus.
We are a young couple with three children (ages 4, 6 and 8) from Austin TX. We stayed in the beautiful property over Thanksgiving, the start of the 2015/2016 ski season, with my parents. My wife and I are pretty accomplished skiers, so we were excited about treating our kids to their first ski experience and lots of mountain snow.
When we arrived the first evening, to the delight of our kids, there was 8 or so inches of snow on the ground in town. It was snowing the next day when we stepped out to go the few feet to the corner to catch the free Mountain Express bus to the ski resort. It is about a 10 minute ride and the bus runs every 15 minutes. It deposits you right at the ticket office. Just past that is where you can rent equipment and store personal items. There is also a place to leave your skies overnight, right next to the lifts. The bus is so convenient, we even came home for lunch one day. It was much easier than scraping ice off the windows, driving and parking in the lot and hauling our equipment over to the lifts and then home with us. The ski school was great for the kids and the older two were traversing greenslopes by the end of the first day. For dinner we just walked the 1 1/2 blocks from the house to Elk Avenue where there were lots of shops, restaurants, and bars.
Being able to conveniently enjoy both the mountain and town was great. We would recommend this property to anyone seeking a great, home-like ski excursion.
A small park for little children is right next door.
