A private studio 200-feet from our private lake that sits like an eagles nest! It is a hand-built, cedar wood (it smells great!) interior with full kitchen, 2 toilets (1 down, 1 up and shower down) and sleeps two in a queen-sized bed! A staircase leading up to it, the view in this natural light from the sun brightens everything! You can enjoy your own private deck. Full gas barbecue for your convenience at the "public area", HD TV with over 900 channels, free WIFI and the custom PRIVATE shower is below! Plenty of hot water with all towels, wash cloths supplied. 10-minute drive to town and some of the greatest salmon fishing in the world! Warm, comfy and safe, our facility is small and that's the way we like it because if it wasn't then we would be big and we're not so sure that would be a good thing! It's a cabin in the air! If you have trouble stepping up a staircase (about 10 steps) or weight over 250 pounds, this facility may not be suitable for you.

We are unique, we are small and non-commercial. We don't use the sardine-can mentality here. You have spacious place to stay, sightsee and enjoy your vacation. As full-time residents, we can offer some of the very best places to visit and experience as we are sensitive to the time limitations while you are here in Alaska.
We love to share our experiences as wildlife photographers in the far reaches of Alaska and can give some pretty good tips on where to go, when to go and how to go to get the best for your money, time and interest.
As one of the past official naturalists for Celebrity Cruise Lines, Jim's knowledge base of animals in Alaska is profound. He freely shares his experiences for your education and enjoyment. He hand-built every building, walkway and everything you see on the property to enjoy. His pride shows and he loves to have you enjoy the wonderful, tranquil and satisfying setting that took over 18- years to create.
Hubby and I spent 3 weeks driving around Alaska and wanted authentic local places to stay. The Studio in Soldotna was perfect for seeing the Kenai peninsula. It was remote on a gorgeous lake yet close enough to town for wonderful food and conveniences. Jim and Lisa, the owners, live adjacent to the rentals and are very generous with their time and information about the area. Our studio was precious and comfortable with plenty of hot water. We enjoyed a central cookout station with grilles and seating. Jims paperwork was correct and our deposit refund was received promptly. Don't hesitate to book this studio!

The property was exactly as pictured on advertisement, clean and well-maintained- a pleasing retreat into nature yet near enough to town for provisions and restaurants. The view of the lake - complete with AM Moose traffic and all day waterfowl such as the Pacific Loon were spectacular. As the sun rose quite early and the fog rolled over the pond, the view became even more breathtaking. Our hosts, Jim & Lisa were friendly and knowledgable; we appreciate their generosity sharing their love of the Alaskan Wilderness with us.
We did have a restful nights sleep here, but this rustic, loft-like, studio could use some finishing touches to justify it's price. Roof leaked during rare thunderstorm and floor was uneven, so not first time! Downstairs "rain" style shower head was not adjustable and was hard to reach for this shorty, so had wet hair. Friendly owners that provided a nice bread and fruit welcoming tray! Nice deck with limited view of lake. Good, quiet, location with good access to surrounding rivers and communities.
