The self catering holiday apartment is on the top (2nd floor) of an old traditional building and therefore is not overlooked & has stunning views. It consists of 3 good size bedrooms; 2 fully equipped bathrooms & a superb lounge/diner/kitchen. The air conditioning ensures that the temperature is cool in summer & warm in winter. The garden offers plenty of space & catches the late afternoon sun. In a romantic setting, watch the sun rise over the sea & the mountains in front of you, and set behind those at the rear. Look across to Kotor Old Town 0.4 miles across the bay (10-12 mins walk), and listen to the Cathedral bells chime on the wind. Watch the boats & cruise liners reach the very furthest point of the fjord. Look left along the fjord for a view you will photograph many times as the light of day constantly changes. A very handy small grocery shop is on the ground floor. TV; Radio/CD/cassette player, board games. Kitchen has everything you are likely to need. 5Mb wi-fi is available.

Our home is in Peterborough, UK, but there is nothing we love more than to visit our wonderful apartment in Kotor and our super villa in Kyrenia North Cyprus.

Why Roger Farr chose Škaljari

When we looked out from the balcony for the very first time we knew that we just had to buy the property, even before stepping inside!

Inside the apartment, although it was in need of renovation (and re-arrangement - the main bedroom was at the front!) once again the potential was obvious and we gutted the apartment and made an enlarged lounge, diner, kitchen. This is at the front, and looks out onto the balcony as well as across the fjord to Kotor town and its amazing wall, all surrounded by beautiful mountains. MAGICAL!

We stayed at this apartment on a family trip with our teenager son as a twin centre holiday visiting Dubrovnik and Montenegro. The location is an excellent base to explore the country and whilst you could hire a car we managed to get around without it….organised private trips are good value here if you have 4 or more people. We had days out to Tara Canyon (rafting), Skadar Lake and we organised rental of canoes through a local firm to explore the shoreline from Muo. Although some of the distances take a while by car due to the mountainous terrain, this is a country to explore, beautiful and unspoilt, especially in the National Park areas. The apartment has 3 good bedrooms and a fabulous lounge with very well equipped kitchen. The balcony is great for drinks, socialising and the view across the bay to Kotor town. It is on a road but this was not a disturbance for us and the apartment is very peaceful at night. The owners provided attentive and helpful support during the booking process and arranged our airport transfers with an excellent local firm which was good value. There is also a good range of local information in the apartment. Kotor town itself is beautiful and a 15 minute walk from the apartment. There are plenty of places to eat there. For self catering options the shop downstairs has excellent ham, cheese and fresh eggs and a butcher/grill (5 minute walk away) does amazing steaks and salads to take away. We would definitely return to this part of Montenegro and would stay at this apartment again.

  • The main bedroom contains a large comfortable bed, with lots of wardrobe space, bedside cabinets and dressing table. 2 large windows, make the room light and airy and afford great views of the fjord at the side and mountains and garden at the rear of the apartment. The 2nd double bedroom, also looks out to the rear of the apartment and contains wardrobes and bedside tables. The twin bedroom is at the side of the apartment and looks along the side of the fjord. Again wardrobes and bedside cabinets are included with table lamps for reading. A double sofa bed in the lounge increases sleeping capacity from 6 to 8. Cot and High chair are provided if required.

The apartment is all on one floor at sea level and is suitable for the elderly subject to it being reached on the 2nd floor by a flight of about 30 external steps. There is no telephone/broadband in the apartment but a WiFi dongle can be rented from our agent for €20 per week which includes €5 of free usage. Alternatively there is free WiFi at Bahus Bar just 150m along the road towards Kotor and at many more bars and internet cafes. Even closer is at the Chinese restaurant just 2 doors away. The fantastic new Porto Montenegro marina development is now open and the general public are more than welcome to use its facilities and view close hand the super yachts (up to 170m) of the super rich and famous. The marina will more than compare to Monte Carlo and is a great new attraction to visitors to our apartment which is just 10 mins away.

Fabulous apartment, great location!

We enjoyed a week at this fantastic apartment with our two children. We were impressed by the spacious accommodation and the high standard of the renovation. Kotor is a beautiful place and this apartment offered fantastic views across the bay towards the old town. The apartment was an easy stroll into Kotor for an evening out, and there were plenty of local amenities on the doorstep. We are hoping to return one day as a week was just not long enough to explore this beautiful part of the world.

Owner's Response: Nicci has summed up how we and all other visitors feel about the apartment and its fantastic location. There is so much to do in the area but equally you can also happily spend a week passing the time away relaxing on the balcony taking in the views of Kotor and the surrounding mountains and villages, and watching the activity (from large sailing ships & pleasure boats to small canoes, swimming, fishing) on the water of the fjord. With the great grocery shop beneath, you don't even need to leave the building! Like so many others, this family want to return to enjoy this magical setting for longer.

We had a wonderful stay at this apartment. Everyone was so helpful and flexible. The apartment was perfect for the whole family. We loved being so close to the old town. It was quieter at night than being in the old town. It was perfect.

I have just returned from a fabulous 2 weeks holiday along with my husband and two teenage kids. We had a fabulous time and the apartment was ideal and in a great location. The weather was very hot during our stay but made very comfortable by the brilliant air conditioning in each room. I think we spent every morning looking at the various cruise ships coming in and out and admiring the view which was beautiful. Kotor itself is lovely with al its winding cobbled streets with loads of good quality restaurants and bars.

We hired a car which I think was really great for exploring the area further but I did see lots of buses and taxi's if you chose not to.

As well as recommending Montenegro as a holiday destination, I can also wholeheartedly recommend booking with Roger and FarAwayVillas. Roger was extremely helpful and the guidance and information he provided was really useful.

Stunning Location

This is a lovely sunny apartment situated in Muo which is approximately a fifteen minute walk to Kotor old town. Tivat airport is just under 15 minutes by car.

The apartment is quite spacious with three large bedrooms and two bathrooms, perfect for a large family or a mixed group of friends. It is furnished to a high standard, very clean and well presented. It has a fully fitted kitchen with quality kitchen appliances in a main open plan living area. But this apartment is really all about the views, from the large balcony you have a magnificent panoramic view of Kotor bay both during the day and at night when the bay is flooded with lights. It was lovely just to sit here and watch the cruise liners and expensive yachts pass by.

There is a nice little restaurant/cafe RELAX nearby and another one called Ladavina further down the road on the way into Kotor where we ate a few times and which was very nice.

Our week in Kotor was fantastic, the apartment comes highly recommended, would return in a heartbeat!!

Un bon séjour dans un cadre magnifique

Nous avons passé une semaine à Kotor.

L'appartement est très grand, très bien équipé ( comme à la maison). Les 3 chambres sont climatisées ce qui est très appréciable en plein mois d'août.

La petite épicerie au rez de chaussée vend de tout et c'est très pratique, sans pour autant que ça induise un bruit gênant.

La vue sur le fjord de Kotor est magnifique et le centre est vraiment à 10mn à pieds comme annoncé.

Nous avons été très bien accueillis par l'agence qui gère l'appartement sur place.

En résumé, nous conseillons vraiment cette location.

Lovely apartment with a stunning fjord view

Spent a very happy and relaxing fortnight in this lovely, clean and very well-equipped apartment which is ideally situated 10-15 minutes walk from the beautiful old town of Kotor. We appreciated the highly efficient air-conditioning as temperatures were in the high 30s throughout our stay! The wi-fi worked well, the beds were comfortable and the kitchen had everything you could possibly need for self-catering. The little shop below the apartment was great for fresh bread in the morning, cold drinks and other basics and there was a supermarket on the outskirts of Kotor. The local agent Sandra arranged for our towels and bedding to be changed in the middle of our stay and was very helpful when our hire car had a puncture the day before we were due to leave! The apartment made a great base for exploring the little towns around the fjord, the Adriatic coast and also inland where Montenegro remains unspoiled by tourism. Many of our favourite days however were spent just wandering in Kotor and chilling out on the terrace - a fabulous place for boat watching! We saw a couple of 4-masted schooners as well as a range of cruise ships and some amazing luxury yachts. We've holidayed in many lovely locations but have never enjoyed waking each morning to a view as amazing as this one! A fabulous holiday.

The Boka Kotorska fjord is the southernmost in Europe & affords stunning views from any position around its 50km coastline. Climb the twisting mountain roads high above the fjord for the most dramatic, and see across to the Adriatic Coast toward Budva. The coastline is stunning but inland it is even more beautiful & dramatic. Explore the mountain ranges, ravines; canyons; gorges; forests; sea; beaches; birds & wildlife. The area abounds with excellent restaurants close by & there is also a wealth of outdoor activities
