Kathleen purchased this house in 2014
We had 3 families and a dog with us (6 adults, 3 kids, one french bulldog). The layout of the house was perfect for us! The fireplace was such a treat. Kathleen, the owner, was lightning fast with responding to questions. Everything was clean. I couldn't find the board games though. But we were entertained enough. I stayed in the master bedroom and would wake up every morning to a gorgeous sunrise by the lake. What a special treat for a city person! The sunroom was an added bonus. Its not heated, but the sun warmed it up and we would lounge out there with a cup of coffee from their keurig brewer. We had a great experience! There's a target and Hannaford supermarket 20 minutes away. We would get our groceries and toiletries there, but the house already had most of the things we needed. I highly recommend this house!
We can't rave enough about our experience at this house on the lake. It is everything it appears to be, and so much more. We were so grateful to find such a beautiful place to accommodate our extended family for a week in Plattsburgh. The six bedrooms are all on the top floor, nicely decorated and roomy. The beds are comfortable, and exactly as described. (If you like extra pillows, bring some from home, though. The same with blankets.) The bathrooms are beautifully updated, and hairdryers are included. The kitchen is fabulous -- all completely updated and outfitted with nice pots and pans, silverware, plates, glassware, serving dishes and spoons. The outside was spectacular, with access to the rocky shoreline directly from the yard, and a short walk to the beach. Our kids loved playing pool and Ping-Pong in the walk-out basement. But the best spot in the house is the sunroom. We'd open the screen doors at night, and listen to the lake, sipping our wine. So relaxing. The deck and grill were impressive. We hope to rent it again for another family get together on this beautiful lake. The views are spectacular.
The house was really perfect for our family vacation. There were 8 adults and 4 children and were had more than enough room for all of us to relax and enjoy our vacation. The deck was just beautiful for morning coffee, and family dinner, or just glazing out at the beautiful lake!!! The house was clean and beautifully furnished and very comfortable. The four and a half bathrooms were perfect for a large group. The house was very clean and there was a great space downstairs for fun activities like pool, ping pong and board games or a movie. The views of the lake were everywhere!!!
The only disappointment was the community beach. While the area was large enough and well thought out for picnics and swimming, it was not very well maintained at the waters edge. A lot of dirt and lake debris that made it hard to swim there with the children.
The house is gorgeous. Even more so in person. It is nicely decorated with all the amenities from home. The 2 living rooms, finished basement, and all season porch were especially nice for 12 people (6 adults & 6 kids). We were never on top of one another, which made for a relaxing vacation!
There are many things to do in the surrounding areas, which is evident by the big binder they leave at the house for you. It has things to do, and restaurant menus. We visited two state beachs, floated down the river in tubes, went to Montreal, went to Vt, and sampled a few wineries, breweries, and hard apple cider places. It was a lot of fun!
Kathleen was great throughout the process. Lighting quick to answer our many, many questions! She couldn't have been nicer or more patient with us!
We would definitely stay here again!
The stay at this house turned out to be everything we hoped it would be, and much more. The pictures presented by the owner simply don't do justice to the feeling you experience having your early morning coffee, late afternoon cocktail or evening dinner on the deck overlooking Lake Champlain. To say the location is peaceful is an understatement. At times all you will hear is the sound of the gentle lapping of the lake on the shore and the variety of birds on and near the lake. It can be that quiet. The house had everything we needed. We didn't want to leave and we hope to be back.
Very beautiful home! My extended family rented several homes in the area for a reunion, and everyone thought this house was the best! Spacious, plenty of rooms and bathrooms for all!
This perfect get-away is located in a small community. It is nestled just north of the Adirondack Mountains with several outdoor activities. Just down the road is Ausable Chasm, a must-see attraction with nature trails, scenic views, rock climbing, gem-stone mining, rappelling tours, and white-water rafting to enjoy with your family and friends. It is the oldest natural attraction in the U.S., established in the late 1800s.
If you enjoy time on the water, there is a marina a few miles away and boat rentals are available. Grab lunch and a drink at the "Naked Turtle" while you're at the marina. If you have your own boat there is a boat launch close by and mooring available right off the back of the house.
Bluff Point Golf Resort is about a mile away! It's located on the shores of Lake Champlain with beautiful greens on the water.
Check out the Clinton County Historic Museum just a few miles away and when you're done take a walk over to the latest attraction in town. The Valcour Brewing Company will be up and running in the summer of 2015. Beer tasting and tours of the Old Stone Barracks will complete your fun filled day.
Whiteface Mt. is less than an hour away, but is worth the trip. Year-round activities such as hiking, gondola rides, an annual uphill cycling race, and adventure trails in the summer and skiing and snowboarding in the winter. It is another location to travel to if you're looking for an adventure with great views and excitement for the family.
From Whiteface (in Wilmington), not far down the road is Lake Placid, site of the 1980 Winter Olympic Games. Like many of these attractions, outdoor adventure and family activities are provided. From challenging hikes to canoe rides to fly fishing. This is a destination you won't want to miss.
Montreal, Canada is just north of Plattsburgh. Take a stroll down Old Montreal or visit the Notre Dame Basilica. You will also find the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts, and the Botanical Gardens are beautiful- don't forget to bring your passport for an incredible experience.
If you're more of a history buff, then you'll love taking a ride south to Ft. Ticonderoga. This historic tourist attraction offers tours, walking trail and historic galleries. Take a step back in time and experience life in the late 1700s during the Revolutionary War.
These are just a few of the many attractions that are available when you vacation in this beautiful area. We hope you'll want to come back every year.
