Completely Renovated and new to the rental market! This home has all new furniture and appliances throughout! There's plenty of living space - between two furnished seating areas outside, a large living room and an extra bonus room separated by french doors (makes for the perfect reading spot or nap!). There are 2 queen size bedrooms along with a queen sofa to accommodate up to 6 guests comfortably. The double private lot provides plenty of room if you vacation with a boat and need a place to park it - perfect location with the public boat launch less than a mile away!
I am a landscape designer for the last 20 years from Buffalo, New York (originally from NJ). I decided to move to Gulfport after many years of visiting. I traded the snow for four seasons of sailing and sunshine. I currently enjoy sailing my 23' Compac sailboat, kayaking, fishing off the Skyway Pier and snorkeling off Fort DeSoto State Park coastline (among many, many other awesome places).
Melissa Zodda purchased this bungalow in 2015
At first the location is what I loved about this property. Then it was the house's rich history that really sold me! While not having much architectural details left to preserve, I am able to at least continue its story for many years to come. In 1921, a hurricane had demolished the Gulfport Casino. From that lumber, my house was constructed and known as 'The White House'. There were very few houses at this time. The builder was the Mayor, Nathan McKinney, who built it as a wedding gift for his daughter and son-in-law, Ethel and Leander White. Leander's mother was the daughter of the very first settlers of Gulfport, the Barnett Family). With great appreciation for the volunteers at the Gulfport Historical Society (well worth a visit), I was able to find original photographs of the house which I have kept to its integrity as best I can.
There's not a bad seat in the house! The views of tropical shrubs and palms, sweet smells of orange blossoms along with the sound of the many birds that enjoy the area (especially the parrots!) - entertain the senses. The bay breeze carries the smell of Stella's getting ready for the brunch crowd. In the morning, you can sit in the front shady garden at the bistro and enjoy your coffee and the friendly faces walking by. Then you can choose to sit in the large private backyard later in the day and enjoy the winding paths of mature tropicals, cactus, birds and plentiful fruit trees. The early part of the year is best for pink grapefruit picking along with the two kinds of oranges. The location couldn't be better! All the exciting life of Gulfport, but also the peaceful setting. Its the kind of place that you just don't feel like getting in the car - its a real vacation.
"She's constantly available and yet we didn't meet her because she respects her guests' space and we didn't need anything. Her bungalow is so welcoming that one of my children woke up this morning crying because he wished he was sill there. The bungalow is peaceful. Its as if it was started with an empty, clean, and warmly painted place and each item was carefully added as it was seen as useful. Each useful item was carefully chosen to be peaceful. Also, there were hooks to hang stuff everywhere! As we were traveling with four small children (spending each day at the beach), this was extremely helpful. Also helpful was the picnic table on the back deck. Our children did not eat one meal indoors during our entire visit and they were thrilled. The neighborhood is exactly as described and the beach is a block away. The arts district is adorable and I will miss the restaurants until we visit again. If we do et to visit again, I do hope we get to stay here."
My family of four and our beloved dachshund thoroughly enjoyed our two week stay at Gypsy Landing. We visited Gulfport in the spring and had to come back. Melissa was very responsive easy to communicate with. The house is beautifully renovated with all the modern conveniences but keeping the "old Florida" charm. There are bicycles for your use along with towels and beach chairs. The kitchen is nicely stocked. We loved the private back deck and grilling fresh fish when we weren't enjoying the many fine restaurants within walking distance from the house. Highly recommend.
Super clean, good neighborhood, cable and internet.
Two blocks away from quiet outdoor morning breakfasts and evening cocktails by the bay.
This was the perfect setup for our family over Thanksgiving. They even provided all the essentials for the beach (chairs, towels, etc.). Travelling with an infant the washer and dryer were a nice perk too!
As first timers to the Florida West Coast, we struck the jackpot! We loved Gulfport and Gypsey Landing. The house was fantastic - it lived up to all the photographs and was extremely comfortable. It was a pleasure to return "home" every evening - so much so that we extended our stay by 3 days. As we had flown we really appreciated all of the added extras - the beach towels, the beach chairs and also the bikes - all well used.
In Gulfport we went kayaking which was so restful, dolphin watching which we loved and much relaxing. We spent several happy meals at Stella's. We are now trying to work out when we can return!
We loved the Bungalow! It was in the perfect location, close to Fort De Soto, St Pete's Beach, St. Petersburg and Clearwater yet was in a very quiet location. The house itself has everything you need from beach gear, anything you could need for a kitchen and even the ability to use your Netflix account in the living room. Only a few blocks from the Gulfport pier, it's fun to walk around the small downtown area. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a very comfortable place to stay, away from any touristy areas yet close to everything.
Great little home away from home! We were 5 and we fit nicely. We even brought our dog along. The house was clean and well kept. Loved the quaint neighborhood! Melissa was great and made sure we had everything we needed for a wonderful family vacation!!
Located one block from Gulfport's finest in dining, galleries, shops, bars and fishing pier on Boca Ciega Bay. Two blocks away is Gulfport's Historic Casino, recreation center and public beach. No car is needed for this vacation - all you need is just steps away! And if you don't feel like walking, bikes are available free to use or you can kayak the bay for a real nature adventure! For those who want to venture a bit further, Fort DeSoto is just minutes by car and a definite must-see with it's pristine natural beaches, excellent wildlife and snorkeling, along with a beautiful bike/ hike path. Downtown St. Petersburg is located just minutes as well, for a different type of day - fabulous eats, antiquing, museums and theater.
