About Elizabeth (Bet) Mulholland

I have owned this cottage for many years and grew up in this area attending local schools and hiking this area for many many years. For me it is the perfect location for a peaceful retreat or a busy vacation.

Elizabeth (Bet) Mulholland purchased this cottage in 1986

Why Elizabeth (Bet) Mulholland chose Colorado Springs

The property is located in the southwest of Colorado Springs. It is a fun, quaint and quirky neighborhood with narrow winding roads and tiny houses. The area originally housed many TB patients coming for the cure in the pure mountain air! Medicine thought it was a benefit to sleep in unheated porches and many of the little houses were home to many of these patients.

What makes this cottage unique

All who come to stay or visit this property seem to love the cozy feeling it brings and the wonderful sunny rooms. The property offers a wonderful location if you just want to relax, be busy hiking or seeing this spectacular city! Autumn is especially lovely. Clear blue skies, cool nights, shimmering aspen and colorful scrub oak make this a delightful retreat!

Fell in love with "Far Cry" Cottage

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I rented this property in late July for two nights at the end of our tour through Colorado. This cottage far exceeded our expectations, and included everything (and more) that we needed to be comfortable. It was almost like something out of a fairy tale. The amenities of the house are just as described on the VRBO site, including a fully stocked kitchen and bathroom. The owner, Bet, was highly communicative and let us know that she was nearby in case we needed anything. Bet had a nice notebook assembled for us at the house with all pertinent information about the cottage and nearby attractions, which we found to be very helpful. She was just a phone call away. The house is decorated very nicely and with a great sense of simplistic style; we could tell the owners took pride in the property. We immediately felt “at home” when at the cottage, and especially enjoyed just sitting and enjoying the view & sounds of nature from the back deck. The location of the cottage is just as amazing as the house itself. It is nestled in the middle of a lovely neighborhood, which seemed to be somewhat of a wildlife sanctuary. Just down the street from the house is a lovely park called Stratton Open Space with great walking/biking paths among a huge field of grasses and wildflowers, and with a wonderful view of the sunrise. We did not realize how early the sun rises in CO (we are from GA), but I found myself getting up every day around 5:30 and going outside to explore. Walking to and from the park early in the morning, I often encountered deer walking on the street, which was always a welcome surprise. Immediately around the house we saw an abundance of birds, squirrels, and deer – and even saw a bear walk through the backyard on the last morning of our stay! Also within close walking distance of the house is an amazing cul-de-sac with a terrific view of nearby mountains which are incredibly picturesque. Overall, the cottage and surrounding area are just beautiful. Not to mention, the house is conveniently located just minutes from the many attractions & restaurants located in Colorado Springs. I would recommend this cottage to anyone travelling to the Colorado Springs area. I actually became teary-eyed when we finally had to leave, as I had so fallen in love with this place. Since our visit, we have in fact decided to move to Colorado, and hope to do so in late 2016. Thanks, Bet, for helping to make our stay so wonderful. We really loved it.

Cozy cottage

  • 5 of 5

I was attending a conference at the Broadmore and stayed at Bet's cottage. It was a welcome retreat to come back to each night. The cottage was within walking distance and the surrounding area is beautiful. The cottage had everything I required for my stay. It was clean and cozy. The fireplace was a wonderful treat. Bet was a great host and checked on me before and during my stay. I would definitely stay again.

Such a peaceful and charming cottage for a perfect getaway!

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I recently stayed for 4 days in this cute and charming cottage in Colorado Springs! We loved everything about this home and how clean and inviting the atmosphere felt during our stay. Bet had everything that we could have possibly needed and more and was very accommodating during our stay. She even allowed us to check-in early on our first day since we had a wedding rehearsal to go to and we were so grateful for her being so accommodating with us about that. One of our favorite parts about the house was the private back deck that we enjoyed sitting on and sipping our coffee each morning. We even saw several deer in the yard below resting each afternoon. The house is in a great location with beautiful hiking nearby, which we loved! We enjoyed great coffee and breakfast at the local coffee shop and loved feeling at home each night after a long day of adventures around the beautiful Colorado mountains. Another great thing about this home was the nice big windows in the bedroom, that let in a great amount of sunlight, but could be pulled down if you wanted to sleep in each morning. We enjoyed opening the windows in the bedroom to allow fresh air in as we got ready each morning since this home has screens on the windows. I would highly recommended this home to anyone looking for a quiet get away with charm, cleanliness and all of the amenities that you could possibly need during a vacation. My husband and I will most definitely be back to visit this cottage very soon! Thank you again Bet for sharing your beautiful home with us! :)

Comfortable & Cozy Cottage

  • 5 of 5

We stayed 3 nights and enjoyed the peaceful serenity of the area, and the relative privacy of the back deck. Cottage was well supplied with anything we needed, including a gas grill with grilling utensils. The Cottage is decorated tastefully with many homey touches...we particularly enjoyed the fireplace on chilly evenings. The location is well suited for sightseeing in the Colorado Springs area. Bet was friendly and very responsive and we would definitely consider staying here again.

Very inviting and welcoming!

  • 5 of 5

We were very pleased with our experience at Far Cry Cottage. We enjoyed the amenities--everything we needed was there, including the washer, dryer and the Keurig! Our favorite place was the back deck with birds and deer early morning and the lights of Colorado Springs at night, all viewed from very comfortable chairs.
