Overview

About the property

3 bedrooms, 2 bath, large open-concept living space, lovely, private

Brand new listing as of April, 2015. You’ll be charmed from the minute you walk into this lovely, beach–cottage type house, with its fresh colors and its comfy, but elegant look. Although you’re not situated directly on the beach, you are only a few miles from the ocean, so there is usually a gentle ocean breeze, even in the warmest months.

Three skylights in the vaulted ceiling provide natural light and the popular open-concept of the living room, dining room, and kitchen create a light, airy place to relax.

There’s a new 48 inch flat-screen cable HDTV in the living room as well as a 32 inch HDTV in the master bedroom. There’s a lovely painted desk for your computer, so bring your tech toys to use with our free Wi-Fi. You may not choose to spend a lot of time online though, for you’ll find reminders that you’re on vacation wherever you look.

If you like to cook fancy meals, or just a lovely breakfast, you’ll find our new kitchen cabinets with deep double sink, and granite counter tops a delight. The stainless steel appliances are all new in 2015. The complete set of anodized pots and pans make cooking and cleaning so easy. We love to cook, so we’ve added many extras in our kitchen and you’ll have full use of them too, including a 2nd full-sized refrigerator in the garage.

Sliding glass doors open to a screened-in lanai with a nice size heated pool (12x25’) and a hot tub. You’ll want to grill out often, and eat out too, on this lovely lanai surrounded by a variety of palms. Since we’re on a corner lot, and there is an undeveloped lot beside us, there is plenty of privacy.

The master bedroom and master bath with walk-in closet are on one side of the house, and two bedrooms and bath are on the other side. Both bathrooms are brand new, with ceramic floors and matching ceramic shower/tub surrounds. The colors we’ve chosen are easy on the eyes and relaxing, and the furniture is a real upgrade to what you might expect in a rental home. The curtains are light and breezy, but each bedroom has room-darkening curtains to pull across for night time.

Linens and towels are provided. There is a small laundry room with new washer, dryer, ironing board and iron.

Though you may be tempted to stay put and enjoy the sunshine and pool on the property, investigate the town of Sebastian for great restaurants and drive the few minutes to enjoy the uncrowded ocean beaches. The Sebastian Inlet is famous for snook and flounder and we often go there with a picnic lunch to watch the dolphin play. The Sebastian area is designated safe habitat for the loggerhead turtle who come to nest in our beaches in May-July, and there are free evening trips to the beach to watch them dig their nest and lay their eggs. There’s a lot of local history too, with a small free fishing museum at the inlet, two museums to check out the treasure ships lost in the oceans near Sebastian, and an environmental center where children can see and touch small creatures under the sea. Golfers will find several courses in the area. We love the quiet neighborhoods and uncrowded beaches of Sebastian, but it’s nice to have busier Melbourne and Vero Beach nearby for additional attractions.

We bought this property so that our four children, spouses, and 14 grandchildren would have sufficient space to visit both our Florida homes and bring their friends. Since our primary home is elsewhere, when we’re not here, both of our homes are available to rent by the week or two. The two properties are close enough to walk or bike back and forth. If you have a large family or need more space, you might consider renting both homes (this one, which sleeps 6, and #439333, which sleeps 8).

About Robert Hamburg

Bob and I are retired (he from military-me as educator). We came to Sebastian to visit my sister and husband who moved here, and fell in love with the area. We purchased a home in 2012 and rent it (#439333) when we're not in Florida, as our primary residence is in Virginia. It is rented nearly every week we are not here and receives wonderful reviews.

However, we have 4 children, their spouses, and 14 grandchildren from various states, who often want to come visit, as that is the only time the grandchildren can see each other. We needed more space to accommodate them, and purchased this home because it was near the first home and also because it had a great pool. We completely renovated the home and grounds and lanai. The fact that it is so near our other home means that we can have more family here at one time. The rest of the year we can rent it out. We feel it is good use of our property to allow others to spend time in it so they can enjoy it as we do, rather than let it lie unattended. Also we can have weekly maintenance of the pool and hot tub, lawn, pest control, etc so that the home will be kept in great order.

Why Robert Hamburg chose Florida Central Atlantic Coast

Sebastian is a truly hidden treasure. The beaches are not crowded, and it's not a widely known touristy place. There are plenty of wonderful restaurants, and the lagoon has walkways along it for viewing shore life. The inlet is wonderful and there are places to really see dolphins and manatees. Don't tell too many friends-we want to keep it the size it is now.

What makes this house unique

The home design is fairly typical (3 bedrooms, 2 baths in opposite sides of the home), but we have gone far beyond the typical rental in order to make this a really lovely vacation spot.

The home is on a corner lot, and there is an undeveloped lot next door with plenty of palms, and vegetation. The pool is great, the area is quiet, and there are always sounds of palm trees swaying in the breeze. We're close enough to the ocean to have a near-constant sea breeze.

The kitchen has so many amenities that you will enjoy preparing meals. The bathrooms are porcelain tile and beautiful. The colors are easy and relaxing to live in. You'll truly feel you are on vacation.

Look at the video URL at "links and videos" tab to see the manatees we visit when we're in Sebastian. We'll tell you how to find this special spot.

A great place to stay!

  • 5 of 5

This home is a great place to spend a week in Florida! A very nice floor plan, with modern appliances, and everything you might need for a vacation close to beach. The owners have thought of everything, and kept me well-informed in the weeks leading up to my trip. The house and swimming pool are both clean and very well maintained. And the driveway is huge, which was perfect for my vehicle and my boat trailer. The neighborhood is quiet and a great place to ride bikes. I can highly recommend this house to anyone looking for a very nice place to stay at a reasonable price.

Great Stay!

  • 5 of 5

We enjoyed our stay in Sebastian. The house, pool, and hot tub were great. The house was just what our family needed. It was very clean and we had everything we needed. We have been home all of one day and already wish we were back in Sebastian.

Comfortable, Clean.

  • 5 of 5

Very well kept property. We have used this property twice and will keep it as our primary choice for future stays in Sebastian. The home is well kept, clean and nicely decorated. The pool offers a refreshing cool off after a day of fishing in the nearby Indian River or Sebastian inlet. Quiet neighborhood, close to stores for those of us who prefer to do our own cooking and a well supplied kitchen. I would give this property a very high mark for a vacation destination.

Restful

  • 5 of 5

The property was wonderful, the attention to detail in the kitchen is a ten and having garbage bags, paper towels etc on hand is fabulous !! My only disapointment was no beach chairs or a CD player ! We had brought a specific movie with us to preview but the channels for tv were plentiful !! Although we didn't use the hot tub the pool was a hit !! Kudos to their planning and specific Instructions !! The lawn was manicured nicely but if they are paying someone for landscape as well they are being cheated as the bed to the right of exiting the front door is basically weeds !! We would recommend this property to anyone who wants a quiet suburban rental that was spotless !!

Owner's Response: Thank you for your thoughtful review. There is no DVD player, you are correct. You are the first ones to mention it, but we have considered whether or not we should buy one, so we'll rethink the idea. There should be two beach chairs hanging in the garage. They were there last we visited, but we'll check again. When we are in Florida next, we will look at the area near the garage. The present sprinkler system does not reach that area, so the only way to landscape it was with native vines, that may look like weeds, and in fact, are wild, but they do have lovely little yellow flowers in season. We'll look at that area too, and may have to end up filling it with stones. Thanks again. We always appreciate the opportunity to reflect on what we are providing. Merilyn and Bob Added on Nov 2, 2016. Hi again. We want you to know that we did address the problem with the grounds area by the garage by adding lovely large river rocks to cover the area so it looks nicer. We left the beach daisys though as well as the ferns, since they don't need much water. We like it a lot. We also bought 2 more beach chairs, for a total of 4 chairs. We found the other two in the garage. Just wanted you to know we do pay attention when someone makes a suggestion. Merilyn and Bob

Great Florida House

  • 5 of 5

House was clean and large with lots of amenities. As long as your trip is focused on spending a lot of time at beach, golf courses, or in the pool, then it will give you everything you want. The town itself is a small town, so you should just be aware of that if you are looking for a lot of city to hang out in. I however, was not looking for that.

We loved this home! The kids enjoyed the pool. The Sebastian area was uncrowded, the beaches were gorgeous, and the people were friendly. We will be back.
