This vacation home embraced by ancient oaks sits directly on a spectacular stretch of the upper reaches of the Withlacochee River (where it exits the state forest). It is situated at the end of a lime rock road that forms a private and secluded point on the river. Directly across the river on the other bank is the Florida Creek Indian Tribal Grounds. This riverfront retreat offers incredible scenic beauty magical in the simple diversity of the river wildlife and its peaceful surroundings. When we found this home we were awed by its unique situation between the oak trees. As if they were cradling the home. We loved the park like setting next to the river, so peaceful and quiet. with the occasional passerby in a canoe. The area the house is set on is near to where the historic Dade Battlefield occurred back in December 1835. You can really see old Florida in the Talisman Riverhouse property.
When we visit the Riverhouse we usually spend most of the time relaxing by the river and enjoying the many wildlife sightings. It is very calm and quiet there. The trees and secluded nature of the property are what make this place special. It is most appealing to those who love nature and don't mind a little rustic comforts. My husband has really enjoyed using this as his hunting cabin since the Green Swamp Wilderness Preserve is 20 minutes down the road.
We enjoyed our month long stay. All the things we like to do were close at hand (golf, kayak, walking trails, drives ) and a bit of antiquing and restaurants in Dade City. The home was functional , clean, and comfortable. We ate sweet oranges from the trees every day. Our dog had plenty of room to explore and run around ( she kept dropping her tennis balls in the river). The river was a little low but we enjoyed the greening up of the trees and woods from the large picture windows. The rec. room would need to be made usable. There was a generous supply of paper and laundry supplies. Laundry equipment was very "basic. " Florida and well-water seems to be a go -together. A great place to be at ease and "let your hair" down.
Had a great time the on the river in the conue. The kids loved the fun room, The house is a old charming house with everything you need. Giant spa tube, barbecue grill, full kitchen, Gorgeous River view, and we had fun o the tire swing. It's secluded but close to towns. It's a wonderful place. I loved it. Thank you Mr. And Ms. Clark
This home was clean and cozy. There was a small plaque that said Fairies live here. I would have to agree. The property was a magical kingdom fit for fairies and divas. We will definitely want to return.
The house and property is just beautiful !! The owners were wonderful and took care of any concerns quickly. We will book again on our next trip.

Located approximately 8 miles North of Dade City near US 301, the Riverhouse is less than 1 hour away from all the major central Florida
attractions (to the Northeast) as well as within less than an hour
of the Tampa Bay metro area (to the Southwest), yet you may find it
more pleasurable to simply stay in this rural area and enjoy the
many entertainment festivities that seem to be ongoing throughout
the year from the several different town communities. Whether it is
a day at Rock Springs (near Apopka), horseback riding in Sumter
County (in the Bushnell area) or taking your exercise on the state
designated trail, we doubt that you will run out of things to do.
For those less inclined to physical activities, there are also the
antiquing opportunities both in Dade City or in Mt. Dora. We even
have our own drive-in theater and nearby local 'country' golf
courses all at unbelievably low prices.
