Overview

About the property

Cottage, 1Bedrooms, 1 Baths, one pull out sofa for 2 adults or a small family

The Crescent Moon, in Butler Beach, FL east of A-1A, is a charming 1 bedroom, 1 bath cottage unit, just right for a small family, 2 friends or one couple who love quiet and privacy, beach soothing mornings and great evenings to love, walk, dance, and relax. As of October 2015 I no longer am renting to 4 adults at the Crescent Moon. A small family is fine. Perfect for 2 adults with a small family up to 4 persons. Please look at the Ooo Laa Laaah #7117208 on vacationrentals as an alternative for your needs with 4 adults) This is real beach living, not a condo scene, nestled in a really cool little neighborhood. The cottage has linoleum floors, a small bar-like kitchen, and a living area with nice furnishings including a Victorian fainting couch in the bedroom! There is also a very comfortable pull out sofa if needed. Provided is a foam topper to make a super nice pull out.The separate sleeping area with the pull out has a nice privacy curtain. The carpeted bedroom has a queen size bed and the one bathroom is ensuite. The cottage has its own private covered/fenced courtyard with patio furniture, fun party lights and gas grill. The bathroom has a large shower and all new incoming plumbing (July 2015) throughout the cottage with nice water pressure. The front porch is a covered sitting area with privacy and nice landscaping. Also, there is a covered side patio with a propane Weber grill for your use. The front patio is open and has a hose with doggie bathtub around the front of the cottage. Wifi, internet, Direct TV, and a HE washer and dryer. There is a covered single carport which makes ease of getting out of your car and walking into the cottage. The cottage provides room for ONE CAR ONLY! Visitors must find a parking space at another location. There simply is not enough room for two vehicles at all.

After 2017, I will no longer rent the cottage for more than a month at a time. I am sorry.

About Martie McLean

I'm 66 years old and I live in Ocala, Florida. I have rented the front of the property for 7 years and have had fantastic reviews through other vacation websites. I also have a rental at Dekle Beach Florida that keeps me busy during scalloping season. I take great pride in my beautiful places and am very responsive to any of our guests' needs. I do not live locally but can be there in 2 hours. I have a team of folks that help me with any issues you may encounter. I am available by phone but especially by email. The lovely apartment is tastefully decorated and fully furnished. I want nothing more than for you to have a wonderful time at Ooo Laa Laaah and the Crescent Moon.

Why Martie McLean chose St. Augustine Area

Butler Beach is one of the nicest beaches in Florida. I wanted a place in this quaint little neighborhood.

What makes this cottage unique

Private, quiet, and inexpensive. It is not a condo scene with stairs and noise from other guests. Pets are welcome but no more than two pets is allowed. The house has no steps to get into the home. All amenities are there. I take care of it as it is my home away from home when I need it.

Guestbook comments from the owner

We had a wonderful time during our stay. The cottage was great. Very clean, cozy and well supplied. One of the cutest places we've stayed at and in a really good location. The beach was great and St. Augustine was amazing. We will definately be back and hopefully soon.

Peaceful...Quiet...PERFECT!

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I stayed at the Crescent Moon for a 4 day getaway over Easter weekend. This is the first time we took our 2 dogs to the beach and needed a house that would accept dogs. We were so impressed when we walked into the house and saw how clean and perfect it was for us. The place was very clean with no signs that other dogs might have been there. The open floor plan was plenty big and very tastefully decorated with added flair that makes you smile when you walk in. The large flat screen tv was a plus and the kitchen stocked with plenty of room. The bedroom was a great size, carpeted with beautiful antique furniture that was warm and friendly. (I WANT THAT FAINTING COUCH!!) The walk in, handicapped shower was also a plus because I have had knee replacements and arthritis. The house isn't beach front but was a 2 minute walk around half a block. We spent lots of time sitting on the front patio in lounge chairs and the ocean breeze and sound of the surf was very relaxing. The back patio was enclosed with 2 chairs and a Weber grill (which we didn't use). The whole patio walls were draped with Honeysuckle that was fragrant and beautiful. I truly can't believe how peaceful and quiet the neighborhood was even on a holiday weekend. The back rental was also occupied but we never heard them. Marti was very attentive and answered emails promptly. We even had our deposit back the day we returned to Georgia!! Her list of instructions about the house, internet, TV, garbage disposal and check out procedures were clear, easy to follow and left no stone unturned. Thank you, Marti, for making this experience such a pleasant one, for renting such a charming home and for allowing our fur babies. They loved the beach and we will come again. Even if we don't bring the dogs we will definitely stay here again. Easily a 5 star rating. Thank you..

Ivey and Randy.

Owner's Response: Thank you so much for the perfect review. Great details for all to read over and enjoy. I love the fainting couch as well. It was used in several theatre productions before ending up in the Crescent Moon. The handicap shower also has grab bars for extra safety for those you need them (and who doesn't). The honeysuckle is actually confederate jasmine and blooms in April and May and is intoxicating. I hope you return. Thankyou for being such a nice guest. Martie

Cozy cottage in a quiet area, very close to the beach. Enjoyed the sunrise and sunsets. Martie was very attentive to our needs, and we hope to return in a couple of years.

Cute place and great location!

  • 5 of 5

The Crescent Moon was the perfect little place for the two of us and our dog. We were able to walk to a couple of restaurants nearby, which we really enjoyed. The proximity to the beach can't be beat! Plus, after a little exploration, I'd venture to say that Crescent Beach (Butler) is the nicest one in St. Augustine! When we come back to town, we will certainly be staying here again.

Wonderful location & owner

  • 5 of 5

This is a great place to stay! Wonderful location one block from the beach, we walked the beach every morning with our dogs. there is both a dune walk over and a place to drive onto the beach 1/2 block down from that, one block over from A1A. (Could Not hear any traffic noise). And just across A1A is a county park that you can walk to - boat launch, sunset views on the intercoastal. What more could you ask?!

The rental is a small one bedroom - the bedroom and attached bath is actually pretty large and the bedroom is carpeted. If anyone else is staying with you fyi the bathroom is located by walking through the bedroom. Plenty of towels in the bathroom, even a few beach towels.

It was slightly dark on the interior - but we spent most of our time outside anyway. And great AC! nice and cold when you come back in. Laminate tile floors with throw rugs which was great since we had dogs. Two porches, and a side area with a hose and booster bath I used daily to wash off the dogs after our beach walks. SO handy. Also super handy was the free washer and dryer - I was able to dry my dog towels after each walk. There is another house in the back but with the washer and dryer in between the two - you never heard the other people.

We never used the kitchen because there were so many places to eat out. A regular 12 cup coffee maker, bring filters. Lots of glasses, mugs, wine glasses, bottle opener. 2 blenders. Everything we needed. Nice fridge & freezer with ice cube trays and even the little round ice balls.

The owner quickly responded to all of our questions. And had even called to check if we still wanted to come due to a tropical storm, and also called after we checked in to make sure everything was ok - which it was. We were able to put our bikes on one patio and our kayaks by the booster bath on the side of the house. We have a large dodge ram pickup with extended cab but we were able to fit it by backing into the driveway.

Thank you for being dog friendly. We hope to come back - so many wonderful places to explore by bike, kayak and beach!

Crescent Moon

  • 5 of 5

One of our favorite places to stay. Short walk to the beach, comfortable bed, nice patio area and we are able to bring our dog. Martie responds quickly to all inquiries. Check out the Ooo Laa La also; it's larger and also a great place owned by Martie.

Owner's Response: Thank you so much for the nice review. The Ooo Laa Laah is on the property just behind the Crescent Moon. It is a great idea for a small group or two families to rent at the same time. My family uses both units during Thanksgiving! Great to have two complete kitchens. Martie
