About Wendy Ney Manley
We own a hand full of vacation rentals and we pick our properties based on whether we would enjoy vacationing in a certain region and if the house would create a meaningful, attractive and memorable backdrop for friends and family to gather. We try to create an environment that offers more personality, comfort and coziness than a sterile hotel room or a home that is void of any warmth or a homey feel. When we vacation we want to do so in a carefree environment that is neat, clean, updated, welcoming and relaxing. My husband jokes that some day he would like to actually use the homes we work so hard to maintain and update, but our family is spread out across the country and very active so between family time and work our free time is not our own. Retirement can't get here soon enough! My husband is from the Buffalo area and commutes to his Houston, TX office on a regular basis. I grew up in the Philadelphia area, although college, grad school and my early career took me to various places across the country. Both my husband and I met in the Philadelphia region, raised our children there and love our 250 year old farmhouse in Pottstown, Chester County, which is where we hang our hats when we are not on the road. Welcome to Casa Comfort La Maison - our home away from home!

Why Wendy Ney Manley chose Pocono Pines
When I was between jobs and our children were very young, my mother convinced us to get away for a few days and suggested the Poconos. 'The Poconos???!!!' I said...immediately heart shaped beds, champagne glass hot tubs and all that is tacky is what came to mind! Lake Naomi could not be further from that vision! We stayed with friends in Lake Naomi and quickly became hooked! We are avid tennis players and when we saw the facilities we were hooked! Courts are super well maintained, a separate clubhouse and pro shop, high level competition, not to mention the gorgeous lake and pools - we loved our time there! We own places at and on the beach and this is the place we relax the best, year round! You can choose to be solitary or find a pick-up game if one feels like venturing out, find a desolate beach with idyllic views of the lake or eat with friends poolside or lakeside and have a delightful and satisfying culinary experience. We fell in love with Relaxation 101 when we pulled up to the house! Steps from the Lake Naomi pool, we were instantaneously struck with the open floor plan and the two story stone fireplace as soon as we opened the front door! We loved the fact that if you are in the kitchen you are still a part of what may be unfolding elsewhere, enjoying a roaring fire or just hanging out after dinner either sitting around the large DR table or outside on the screened in porch. When we need to get away, this is where we come, year round and so close to home! Rarely is traffic an issue and if we want to shop the outlets, eat at a fine dining establishment, walk the boutiques at Kalahari (my kids are bummed it wasn't built sooner!) ski or check out Camel Beach, Jack Frost or Big Boulder or even venture north to Elk, the opportunity is there!
What makes this House unique
In 2016 we renovated the kitchen, the two baths, and replaced all the flooring on the first floor with an engineered laminate that really opened up the space. and holds up quite well to typical wear and tear and significant foot traffic The bathrooms are so much more luxurious and kitchen is so much more functional. Don't forget to check out the foosball table - a favorite hangout for my kids, and likely yours too! We love the stone fireplace that runs two floors, the open space floor plan, the screened porch, the brightness of the house even though we are in the woods, the wonderful cross breezes and the single car garage which provides protection when the weather is not cooperating. We added a portable air conditioner to the first floor in 2016, and a second one to the loft in 2018, although the canopy of trees and cross breezes when the windows are open make the house very comfortable in the warmer months. The units are most appreciated on the super humid days. Again, we have tried to decorate in a manner that is comfortable, tasteful and inviting and based on our guest book, our guests overwhelmingly agree. We hope you do too!

First of all the owners were great, Wendy kept in touch with all the info I needed and answered any questions I had. Very easy to unlock the door, sometimes the pin numbers give you trouble, house was very clean and more than enough of room for us. We were 5 adult men looking for a relaxing weekend and watch some football. The bedrooms were comfortable, bathrooms were clean, kitchen had enough of counter space since we did alot of cooking. We didn't venture out at all but did go to the Dollar General which had mostly everything you needed. Overall I would definitely stay here again, we are going to try and make this an annual trip so you might see us again next year.
So glad you enjoyed your stay and hope the preferred teams won their games! We look forward to having you return. Thanks for the great review!
Fun time over the winter holiday
We stayed here with four adults and five kids for a long weekend in the winter. The house was perfect for our vacation. The weather was not great for skiing so we did tubing, swam at the the community recreational center, and the movies. We mainly ate out but the kitchen was well-equipped to prepare a meal if we had chosen to do so. We did not spend much time outside but that also looked like it would be fun during the warmer season. Wendy was very easy to work with and responsive to our questions. I would recommend this property.
Happy to hear you enjoyed your stay, even though the weather did not cooperate. We hope you will consider returning, whether during the warmer weather or more typical winter conditions. Happy 2020!
Great cozy home.
Glad you enjoyed your stay! We hope you will consider returning in the future. Happy 2020!
Wendy was really easy to deal with and very accommodating. The house was clean and had everything we needed. Would definitely rent from Wendy again.
Brian - Thank you for the kind review and for the extra sheets! We look forward to welcoming you back soon!
Weekend in the woods
This home is even more beautiful in person. Loved the location and the privacy of the lot this home sits on. Short walk to pool. Screened in porch an amazing place to eat or enjoy your morning coffee. This home is well equipped for cooking in and the rooms are spacious and airy.
Wendy is an amazing host and is as close as a phone call or text. Hope to return next year 😍👍👏
So glad you enjoyed your stay and I have especially enjoyed getting to know you, albeit virtually! I have had a lot of fun exchanging emails and text messages and sharing "scoops" and travel/dining experiences. I will miss our communications until we schedule your next visit. Gonna work on that ceiling fan with light in the screened porch in the interim!!! Thank you for your kind remarks and we look forward to welcoming you back!
Lovely vacation home
The place was spacious and beautiful. Wendy communicated quickly and kindly and was accommodating to the change in guests. We especially liked sitting around the fire pit and playing foosball. Unfortunately, we had to cut our vacation three days short and would have loved staying longer (did not ask for compensation). Having said that, there were two issues.
When booking the vacation, it does not mention
on the site that you need to bring your own linen, towels, toilet paper, garbage bags and detergent. I do understand the reasons for that (people stole, competitive price), but would have liked to know in advance because it kind of takes away from the feeling of 'vacation' when you have to worry about making your own beds (we're a big family). The second issue was that there was garbage in the driveway when we arrived in Saturday (bear's doing) and it was not cleaned up by the time we left three days later. Moreover, the latch on the garage crate didn't work well and when we put our garbage away, the bear got to it too... seems like the bear knows this is a good place to find some food (we also saw it).
In sum, nice vacation place that we do recommend, just take into account bringing a lot of things from home.
Heidi - thank you for your review. I am glad you enjoyed your time and sorry your trip was cut short. I hope everything is OK.
With respect to the issues you mentioned, I know you booked late last year so perhaps some of this was overlooked since that time but the listing in the Amenities section does explain that linens (sheets and towels) can be provided for an additional fee and the lease and cover letter that was provided when you booked also explains what is included with regards to supplies and linens.
With regard to the trash, we have had an unusally high number of bear "visits" this summer with quite a bit of destructive behavior which is why I recommended leaving trash in the garage until the morning of pickup in the Welcome Email. I am sorry you were greeted by trash when you arrived and tried to make arrangements for pick up as soon as I was notified which is not always easy to do on a Sunday. I was told by the trash company they had picked up the trash very early Monday morning which I requested confirmation from you. We were able to make some adjustments to the trash crate and it seems to be a bit more secure for those who followed you.
