About Bruce Jonason
We have been enjoying Lake Ethel's beauty together since 1980 when Sandy's parents first purchased the property next door. We were fortunate enough to purchase that property from them in 1999 which enabled us to continue enjoying this beautiful lake. We live in the Twin Cities area and are raising six children, all of whom enjoy all Lake Ethel has to offer.
Bruce Jonason purchased this Cabin in 2015
Why Bruce Jonason chose Girard
We purchased a lake cabin on this lake from Sandy's parents who first purchased the property back in 1980. We have enjoyed spending time at this lake since then. As our six children continue to grow and eventually begin their own families, we anticipate the need for more space at the lake, so when this cabin became available, we purchased it to accommodate our family's future growth. In the meantime, we are able to share these great experiences with others.
What makes this Cabin unique
This cozy cabin sits just a few feet from the lakeshore, and you cannot help but feel relaxed as you enjoy fishing or boating by day and the cool breezes and loon calls at the campfire by night. This lot offers a shallow, weed-free swimming area, great for the kids! Feel free to bring your own boat or use ours and keep it on our small boat lift. We can provide you multiple ways to enjoy the lake: enjoy the view while connected to wi-fi, with a paddleboat, canoe, kayaks, or a sailboat if you would like--just ask us! For 2017, we are a licensed rental property in Otter Tail County!

This was our 3rd stay at this cabin and we will definitely stay again! Owners are very easy to work with. We enjoy the small and quiet lake, it is so relaxing.
The cabin is a bit elevated above the lake, and being on the north side, this leads to great views and nice sunshine. A couple of trees provide good shade too though. Nice dock and good swimming off of it. The cabin is neat and clean and well set up and supplied, perfect for a couple or small family. We brought our canoe, which worked fine on the lake (which isn't too huge). Caught quite a few bass and northerns. There's a good bit of watersport traffic on the lake on the weekends but the weekdays were amazingly quiet. Bruce (the owner) is a pleasure to work with.
Great, peaceful, relaxing week!
Had a great week! Seemed to have the lake almost to ourselves.....very clean, comfortable cabin.
Cute cabin, great set up, able to have a very nice, relaxing time.
It might be small but its a very nice set up on the inside. At times it was just the two of us and other times it was all six of us but the set up of the cabin allowed each couple to have their own space at night. Clean, comfortable and well maintained and stocked with dishes, pots, pans and utensils. Wrap around deck was super nice to hang out on and watch the lake activity and also play games. Parking was not an issue and the City of Ottertail which is a short drive away had some neat boutiques and shops to go browse around in. Would definitely go back to this cute cabin!
Nice cabin close to things to do, great panfishing!
nice property with nice owner.
When we were booking I some how added a pet. Mr Johnson was waiting with a refund for the pet charge. Great cabin for couple or small family. No washing machine or dryer. We would stay in this cabin again if we Visit the western part of Minnesota . Still waiting for the cleaning refund but to my knowledge this is VRBO job not mr Johnson.
Enjoy yourself on a very clear 200 acre lake. On a very busy day, you might see 4-5 boats using the lake, but generally, you will have the lake to yourself. When you need something else to do, enjoy one of two 18 hole golf courses or a 9 hole golf course, each less than 8 miles away. Glendalough State Park with its abundance of wildlife and antique stores are also nearby.
