Debbie Newcomer, Property Manager/Owner purchased this cottage in 2004
We purchased this property with the intention of making it a B&B after retirement. The location is so private, peaceful and scenic yet it is close to so many Maryland attractions. The perfect spot! We love this beautiful, historic property and are happy to share it with those who are seeking a quiet retreat and some much needed R&R!
Direct access to the scenic Monocacy River and the historical feel of this property made it love at first sight for us. Spacious and secluded yet only minutes from great restaurants and entertainment made this a must have for us.
“Serene country escape!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 14, 2015 NEW
Perfect quiet escape for a blend of modern and rustic. Beautiful scenery, great fishing. Modern kitchen and amenities. Super clean. Probably the most comfortable bed I've ever slept in. Debbie gets all the details just right. This place is truly one of a kind
Wonderful weekend getaway to a very quaint cottage. Loved it!
Our family of four visited after the Christmas holiday for a quiet place to stay when we visited Ski Liberty and we had a wonderful time. The property was clean and well maintained and Debbie thought of everything that you could ever need when staying there. She was also only a phone call away if need be. The cottage was so cozy and inviting and the scenery was just gorgeous. The fresh made cookies upon arrival were an added bonus! We would definitely recommend this cottage to others and would love to stay again.
My girlfriends and I thoroughly enjoyed our weekend away in Debbie's country cottage in Emmitsburg, MD. The location was private and secluded off the road with lovely view of the river. Although cold temps kept us mostly inside, there were many beautiful birds just outside every morning.
The cottage is a little piece of history brought into the present with all the comforts of home; comfy sofas, television, electric fireplace in the stone hearth and a very well equipped kitchen. The master bedroom is lovely with antiques and very comfortable king-sized bed; there's also a fireplace in the master! The guest room has additional sleeping space and there's also a pullout sofa downstairs. All the beds were very comfortable. Debbie our host, has decorated the cottage very nicely and as we were there in December, she had it decorated for Christmas. My friends and I high recommend this property and hope to get back there again soon. I would also love take my husband there for a quiet weekend!
I cannot not say how much I enjoyed this property. Having the opportunity to stay there with several of my friends as we enjoyed a bicycling weekend, I was so impressed, that I brought my wife back two weeks later. That being said, my wife enjoyed a perfect weekend get-a-way at this gorgeous and exquisite cottage.
The cottage itself, is immaculately maintained with beautiful decor that is relevant to the history of the home. Very comfortable space in each room which added to the relaxation. The property was expansive that provided plenty of privacy. The Menocacy River provided a scenic view that was hypnotizing and the changing foliage was enjoyable. The abundance of wildlife entertained us all weekend. However, the alpaca's made it special as we visited with them each day, especially one named Ovie (we affectionately named Joe) that would run towards us as if to say hello, when he saw that we were walking towards him.
This cottage had all the comforts of home. We really only needed to bring food. Debbie (the owner), had every possible thing you could need covered, down to the wonderful plate of homemade cookies. There was literally nothing that we needed that wasn't there. We appreciated her detail to comfort and convenience. She made our stay so enjoyable and to know she was only a call away if we did actually need anything. Debbie's customer service went beyond expectations.
We were able to enjoy the peacefulness of the area, and enjoyed the noises of nature while sitting outside next to a campfire (firewood provided too).
It was the perfect weekend. We enjoyed our stay so much that we instantly decided to make this a special destination for us for when we need that ideal get-a-way. We would highly recommend this property for anyone that could be seeking the same or reconnect and de-stress.
This was our second stay at the cottage and we enjoyed it even more than the first, (if that could be possible.) The cottage is nothing short of lovely and charming. The property is a historic sight but is beautifully decorated and holds all of the modern conveniences one looks for on vacation. Debbie and Burt have not missed a beat when it comes to all the special little touches that make a stay unforgettable. The beds are so comfortable you may find you'd rather sleep all day except you'd miss out on all the property and town have to offer. We were welcomed both time with a delicious tray full of cookies which made it feel all the more like our home away form home.
My husband and I plan to make this a yearly retreat! Thank you!
