Indian Pass Fun, Private & Cozy Beach Cottage--The Barnacle

Bedrooms 2
Space 1,050 sq. ft.
Property type house
Minimum Stay 3 - 7 nights

About the property

House, 2 Bedrooms, 2 Baths, 6 Sleeps

Enjoy your vacation at this fabulous round house in a tree-filled

setting, tastefully decorated, located on the tip of Indian Pass.

Indian Pass is located at the extreme west end of Apalachicola Bay

where it flows into the Gulf of Mexico. This conflux of fresh and

saltwater makes one the most fertile estuarine areas of the world.

While the area was settled by Native Americans for thousands of

years and then again by the early European explorers modern

civilization has conveniently skipped us over.

Long Known as Florida's 'Forgotten Coast' most of the inhabitants

here have fins or feathers. No high rises or motels but miles of

unspoiled beaches, succulent oysters, world class fishing and

spectacular sunsets. Beachcombers are greeted by miles of shells,

fossilized shark teeth and pottery shards from our earliest

This comfortable two-bedroom, two bath retreat offers lots of

privacy in a natural setting just steps (150 ft.) from the beach.

Wrap-around deck with chairs and a slight view of Indian Lagoon, lots of

wildlife, and great birding. Explore St. Vincent's Island across the

Pass. Bring your kayaks, canoes, binoculars, and camera. Excellent

fishing and crabbing, shelling and long walks on miles of pristine

beach. Private and peaceful.

The Barnacle tree house was a perfectly relaxing experience!

  • 5 of 5

Our family had a great time staying at The Barnacle. It was just like a tree house. We enjoyed viewing a great variety of birds, foxes and other wildlife. We had everything we needed or wanted there. What a quiet natures retreat. If you are looking for relaxation, this is the place! We are already looking forward to our return!

very nice place

  • 5 of 5

We are in our 70"s and were unable to take advantage of the beautiful walkway to the beach.

There were too many stairs for us. we had to rent a golf cart which was very expensive for the week.

Lack of privacy, look more carefully at the photos and you will see the bedroom walls do not extend to the ceiling. Which makes the whole house into one room.

Beautiful, quite and comfortable rental with a short pathway to a gorgeous beach.

  • 5 of 5

The Barnacle is a beautiful, quite and comfortable rental with a short pathway to a gorgeous beach. Sometimes, (morning and evening), we had the beach all to ourselves! We had 5 people, 3 adults and 2 kids, and with the pull-out couch we had enough room. This place is perfect for the nature lover and the beach bums,(It has great wifi too!). It is right across from St. Vincent Island and we saw many different kinds of birds, animals and fish,(at the house and on the island). Janis and Victor have thought of everything to make the rental the perfect beach getaway. I would definitely stay here again!

Owner's Response: Thank you so much for your nice review of the Barnacle and our beautiful area! Being nature lovers and "beach bums" ourselves, we can certainly relate to the beauty and peacefulness you enjoyed during your stay. Our only regret is that We were on vacation while YOU were here, so we did not have the opportunity to meet you in person. We are very much looking forward to your return! Thank you again for choosing the Barnacle!

Our stay at The Barnacle was nothing less then fantastic! Such a charming and relaxing place!

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I travel to the Gulf coast each April for her birthday week which we always have a two furry kids in tow (Jack and Gracie). We have stayed in Panama City, Destin, St. George Island and now here at The Barnacle in Port. St. Joe/Indian Pass which has now become our favorite to date! Indian Pass is such a quiet, sleepy little slice of heaven that caters to those who crave solitude...

The Barnacle itself is intimately set up in the Live Oak and Loblolly Pine canopy which is the home for the local wildlife consisting of squirrels, tree frogs, many species of vocal song birds and the majestic hoot owl who softly bellow out each night.....Jack and Gracie would spend hours sight seeing all the this activity from the deck.

Janis and Victor are such delightful and accommodating hosts who made us feel like family! We cannot thank them enough for everything and we certainly plan to be back!

Cozy cottage on tranquil Indian Pass

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful time at our week long stay in the Barnacle. The cottage was delightful: attractive, clean and furnished with everything we could need. I especially enjoyed the kitchen, which had quality cookware and utensils. It was also a treat to have comfortable living room furniture. We have found that rental cottages are often lacking in both kitchen and living room amenities.

To top it all off, the Barnacle is located on charming Indian Pass. Indian Pass beach is beautiful, tranquil and just a short walk over a board walk, or down the street from the Barnacle.

When we return to the the Florida panhandle, we would love to stay at the Barnacle again.
