Reviewer Comments:

We loved our stay at the Bear House. The three levels of sleeping quarters worked out perfectly for our family, the little ones and their parents had the lower level with the family room, the teens and their parents occupied the first floor ... and grandma had the master suite all to herself. Heaven! The view in every direction was fabulous, the hot tub very much appreciated, as was the visit by a heard of elk one morning (sorry, Jill, they ate some of your shrubs). The kitchen was stocked with all the pots, pans, plates and flatware we could ask for, it kept the cooks among us busy while the kids delighted in counting all the many, many bears and antlers around the house. The location was very private but close to everything - not to forget the star gazing at night from the front porch, ah! All in all, we loved every minute of it and are planning to be back.

Reviewer Comments:

It was a beautiful property and the space worked out great for our family's needs.  Great driveway for the kids to play in while we watched from the front porch. It backs up to a very noisy busy road though. There were a few really disappointing things though... The hottub was unusable.  There was a layer of film/scum on top of the water and it smelled.  The basketball hoop wasn't up as shown in the photos. The dishwasher was horrible.  It doesn't clean well and you can't load many dishes on the bottom rack. Ski Wax was left on the iron and almost ruined my husbands shirt. The bed sheets in the master are very scratchy. There was a shoe left under a chair in the master- which made me feel like it wasn't cleaned thoroughly. We did reach out to the property manager when we couldn't find trash bags and they were delivered to the house promptly. She was very easy to work with and said she would look into all of these issues.

Reviewer Comments:

Nice place with great access to Rocky Mountain National Park. Could use some updating of furniture and some of the window treatments. Didn't realize the unit wasn't air conditioned (my fault). But, with that said, the unit could have used more overhead fans, especially the upper bedroom.

Spacious home for extended family with Mountain Views and close to everything!

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at this house with my family (3 kids under 6 plus 2 adults), my parents & my 3 nieces (teenagers). The layout could not have been better. When you walk in, you are in the hearth room/fireplace---look straight ahead at the kitchen---look to the right at the dining table with a laundry room/garage entry off of that. Directly on the left wall are stairs that go up to the master bedroom/bath (only room on 3rd level). On the main floor, you take a hallway to the left of kitchen and there is a full bathroom with tub, stairs to the basement and 2 queen bedrooms across the hall from each other. Go down the basement stairs- to the left is the bunk bed room (2 bunks with bottom full beds and top twin beds)and to the right is the tv room plus a foosball table. Off of that room is a full bathroom with shower and then a queen bedroom. The deck in pictures is all on the front of the house---spacious to sit out with a lower level that goes to the hot tub. Owners should consider 'gate' to hot tub area at bottom of stairs for little kids. The house has views of mountains in front and back. It looks secluded, but there are neighbors in front, right, left but you never see them. The backyard has a firepit and we played horseshoe and bags that are stored in the garage (sleds and football too). The basketball goal was down when we were there. There weren't many 'games' inside the house. Beyond the backyard is the main road that you take a few miles down the street to be in Downtown Estes in 3 minutes. It had easy access to horseback riding, RMNP, Downtown Estes, grocery store, etc. We emailed owner with questions several times during stay and she got back to us right away. The house was incredibly clean & efficient. I despise mountain driving/fears of falling off a cliff and you don't have to worry about that to get here. Now, if you enter RMNP that's another story! STAY HERE! We did downtown Estes, RMNP sledding, Bear Lake Hike, Horseback Riding, Horse drawn wagon ride, Estes Ark, Stanley Hotel tour....
