**The cabin is located on a steep and unpaved, mountainside road, so although front wheel drive vehicles do manage during the summer season, we strongly recommend AWD/4 x 4**

WINTER GUESTS: We provide snow removal/sanding on our road and driveway for your arrival and departure. AWD or 4x4 required during the snow season, generally a good idea during the winter months in the high country.

Why Jackie Hudson chose High Country & Blue Ridge Mountains

We spent years travelling around North Carolina's High Country as well as Tennessee in search of a mountain town that we could call our 'Escape Home', a place where we could recharge and spend quality time with our kids, as well as a place that fueled our love of nature and all things outdoor. Banner Elk met all of those requirements, and lucky for us we found a little cabin that was exactly what we were looking for. Adding a second Master suite and some other changes has brought our dream to life, one we can't wait to share with our guests.

What makes this cabin unique

Proximity to town ammenities while secluded and private. Loads of room to explore on and around property. Lots of entertainment options in the cabin, so rainy days won't ruin your vacation. The firepit, decks, pool table, games, wildlife and natural beauty of the property will recharge anyones batteries :)

Super Weekend

  • 5 of 5

We so enjoyed our time at the mountain house. Very peaceful! Wonderfully designed & decorated cabin with that "your in the woods but not exactly roughing it" feel. Theresa (P.M.) and Jackie were gracious hosts, both before and during our stay.

New Year Family Getaway

  • 5 of 5

My Family (Myself, Husband, two kids 15 & 11 and 2 dogs) decided to escape for a week in the Mountains. We stumbled across this cabin while looking for something close to Boone and Banner Elk. We fell in love with the style and "homey" feel of the interior and booked.

Upon arriving the road traveling up the mountain is fun and exciting. Lots of winding turns and pretty scenery. The drive up to the cabin is steep so I would keep that in mind. The cabin itself is perfect, decorated in rustic yet modern decor it gave a very welcoming and comfortable feel of home away from home. When we walked in the owner had a bottle of wine with supplies to make s'mores with a warm welcome to our cabin! The master bedroom has a breathtaking view and easy access to the deck. The master bath is absolutely perfect. A great place to unwind after a long hike or day on the slopes.

My daughter loved the bedroom upstairs with ski light views and large window. My son slept on the pull out sofa which is definitely above average and very comfortable. I was worried when looking at pictures that the space would be too small for all of us, brining two large dog beds and two kids, but it was just perfect. There is a large dining table and space for games. The living room has space for the dogs near the fireplace and the extra bathroom near the pool table was perfect!

I would like to mention the owner was very helpful as we did get approximately 8" of snow overnight. She had the driveway plowed first thing in the morning and the steep hill was no issue for our truck. The lot is large and not close to neighbors so wandering and exploring was nice. The outside gazebo with fireplace was a great spot to relax and the fire pit was fun for the kids making s'mores.

As far as location, it was an easy 10 minute or less drive to downtown banner Elk. There is a grocery store, ski/snowboard rental shops, gas station and restaurants right there. A fun general store and lots of places to sled in town. Boone was just a bit farther and was a great walk for shops and local coffee.

Normally we book a different cabin each year to explore, but we were so happy with the way the owners went above and beyond.... little things like quality toilet paper, comfortable bedding and a full kitchen we REALLY appreciated. They keep it nice like it's their home and we were happy to do the same. Definitely coming back. Thank you Jackie!

I have no words to express how incredible the home was but more impressive was Jackie!

  • 5 of 5

The cabin was perfection! It was fully stocked with everything you needed and more! The kitchen was a cooks dream. We cooked a lot! We also grilled a ton. Enjoyed the indoor and out door fire place. The pool table and smart tv were a hit with the kids. the towels, linens, pillows, toiletries...nothing was missed! Jackie was great. She responded to every text I sent. She had great recommendations. Our family of 4 fell in love! I would agree with Jackie... you need a 4*4. Especially if it rains or snows! Thank you, Jackie!
