**The cabin is located on a steep and unpaved, mountainside road, so although front wheel drive vehicles do manage during the summer season, we strongly recommend AWD/4 x 4**

WINTER GUESTS: We provide snow removal/sanding on our road and driveway for your arrival and departure. AWD or 4x4 required during the snow season, generally a good idea during the winter months in the high country.

Why Jackie Hudson chose High Country & Blue Ridge Mountains

We spent years travelling around North Carolina's High Country as well as Tennessee in search of a mountain town that we could call our 'Escape Home', a place where we could recharge and spend quality time with our kids, as well as a place that fueled our love of nature and all things outdoor. Banner Elk met all of those requirements, and lucky for us we found a little cabin that was exactly what we were looking for. Adding a second Master suite and some other changes has brought our dream to life, one we can't wait to share with our guests.

What makes this cabin unique

Proximity to town ammenities while secluded and private. Loads of room to explore on and around property. Lots of entertainment options in the cabin, so rainy days won't ruin your vacation. The firepit, decks, pool table, games, wildlife and natural beauty of the property will recharge anyones batteries :)

Everything you could want in a cabin!

  • 5 of 5

My family stayed for four nights in October 2016. Jackie is a marvelous host, contacted us to make sure we arrived safely and had everything we needed (we did). The cabin is immaculate and very well-appointed. The location is perfect, in striking distance of so much of the NC high country. Our two girls both said they did not want to leave!

P.S. don't try to make the last part of the steep drive up to the cabin unless you have a 4x4. We were warned! We ended up parking a notch down the drive and were fine with that.

Owner's Response: Hi Cliff and family! Thank you for sharing your thoughts with us, we are so happy you and your girls enjoyed your stay. I also appreciate the heads up on the drive, we really prefer folks come up with AWD or 4x4, it's just easier. But regardless, you made it up and had a good time and that's what matters to us :) Sincerely, Jackie and Ben

Spectacular Experience!

  • 5 of 5

Jackie goes above and beyond to ensure her guests feel welcome and entertained during their stay. She has everything you need onboard so you don't have to pack the kitchen sink! The outdoor fireplace experience was exceptional. We cooked hotdogs and S'mores over the fire.

Great locations, fabulous cabin

  • 5 of 5

This cabin has a lovely mountain view off the back deck and is 15 min at most from Banner Elk. From this location there are multiple other places to visit less than 30 minutes away. The cabin is so nicely furnished. Gorgeous bathrooms, Comfy beds. We loved the outdoor living room and stayed out there 2 nights watching TV and roasting marshmellows. Jackie, you have great taste and I so appreciated your personal touches and keeping in touch to make sure everything was in order. I really cannot think of anything I would change.

Peaceful, Elegant, Solitude is a perfect way to describe our stay

  • 5 of 5

The house was perfect! It is a great size for 4 people. It was in a beautiful, secluded setting. We loved that the house was equipped with anything we could ever need and the amenities, like the outside pavilion was awesome! It was also very clean which is very important when we rent a home. Jackie was so accommodating and on call if we needed anything. The only thing we did not expect is the very steep drive to get up to the house, but the Camry was a trouper. We will be coming back in March of 2017. Thanks for sharing your wonderful home with us.

The Cabin and Property were wonderful.

  • 4 of 5

We loved Banner Elk and the surrounding towns and look forward to another visit in the future. The cabin and property is absolutely wonderful. The roads to access the cabin were a little too challenging for us older folks. Jackie, the property owner, is a true hostess, thank you for all your attention. We couldn't have felt more welcomed.

A peaceful and beautiful escape!

  • 5 of 5

This is truly a home away from home. You only need to bring your clothes and food to fill the fridge. There was even foil, cling wrap, and Ziploc bags available for leftovers. The cabin was decorated so beautifully and tastefully and it was immaculate. Beds were super comfortable. Jackie is a doll and even had a bottle of wine and s'mores ready for us upon arrival. We thoroughly enjoyed and utilized the pool table and outside fire pit. It snowed pretty heavily so we had to get chains on our tires to make it up to the cabin, the roads are pretty steep. Our dogs had the best time romping around in the snow and warming up by the fireplace. Such a change of pace from our busy lifestyle, it was truly breathtaking to go outside and hear NOTHING! Just nature, the wind blowing through the trees, birds chirping. We went skiing at Beech Mountain during the day, which is very close and Food Lion supermarket has everything you'll need. We absolutely loved staying here and would again in a heartbeat! Thank you for making it such a memorable vacation for our family of 4 and my parents.
