About Stratos and Martha Christianakis

This is an 18th century stone house that I was fortunate to inherit and fully renovated several years back. We kept the traditional 1700s appearance introducing the needed luxury and necessities of the daily interactions. We are fortunate to have a guest book filled with positive customer experiences. We love to have our guests stay at our property. Enjoy themselves and share their reflections to our future guests.

Why Stratos and Martha Christianakis chose Chania area

Has been part of our family for centuries. Built in the late 1700s, next to a unique lake ecosystem, this renovated Venetian architecture villa, is an ideal holiday retreat to all guests. Assets are its private pool, proximity to the lake, views of mountains, nature & the golden sand beaches. We are pleased to host our guest and show them the renown Greek hospitality. Not far from the property, approximately 3 km away, lies the town of Georgioupolis. A seaside town which has evolved into a modern touristic resort. Eucalyptus trees all around the towns central square – providing a beautiful scene. In summer, restaurant and café owners at the centre of the village often lay tables and chairs outside their premises to attract customers for a cool drink in the shade of trees. A walk through the narrow roads of the town you will encounter shops with souvenir, clothes, jewelry and other popular items, as well as taverns. A few minutes walk from the town square to the seafront with traditional fishing boats and transportation to beachfront areas along the coast. Streaming down from the White Mountains, the Almyros stream discharges onto the beach of Georgioupolis which is the longest on the island. To the seafront stretch the beach of Georgioupolis where traditional taverns and coffee-bars can be found. These establishments offer alternative entertainment for all age groups.

The most popular landmark is the picturesque chapel of Saint Nikolas which is built on rocks that have been placed a little off the shore to act as breakwater.

Other nearby villages to visit would be Vrisses and Argiroupolis.

Vrisses is a charming village known for the cafés beneath the plane trees at the center of town as well its delicious local sheep’s yogurt. It is located 7 km due west of Georgioupolis. At Vrisses you will find mini markets, local stores, a bakery, and popular river side shaded tavernas. Vrisses is the gateway to the southern coast of Chania.

Stayed August 2014

We are very satisfied with living in this property. The house is big , full of air and very nice. Being traditional Greek home (18-th century!)it has stone walls, high ceiling,a lot of space and cool air. All the windows are equipped with mosquito nets. Two bathrooms, good kitchen and cozy bedrooms allow to have all the necessary comfort. The house is situated in the village, in 200 meters from a big lake,in a very quit environment. At the same time there are only 4 km to the sea beach! Stratos was great, all our needs he arranged immediately and he took care of the pool. He was always nearby but not bothering us. We will definitely recommend this property to our friends!
