Had a really fab hen weekend here recently. Booked for 13 of us, although only 11 went in the end. Absolutely stunning cottage although it would've been a bit of a squash upstairs with 13. I think 11 or 12 adults is the perfect number for this cottage really.
Very well equipped place, clean, beautiful bathroom, gardens and hot tub was a definite hit. We had lovely weather so were sunbathing in the garden which was so peaceful and relaxing. Can't recommend this place highly enough and a very good price compared to others out there. Difficult to find though - could do with better signage!! Thank you
I organised a hen weekend here recently for 12 professional women who wanted a different kind of hen weekend, that involved mostly relaxing and eating but also some walking and running. This cottage is beautiful, feels luxurious, is very well maintained and so is the perfect place to relax.
The kitchen is well equiped, hot tub a real treat, beds comfy with good quality linen. Log burning fire and beautiful bathroom were also a hit. The large dining room was perfect for long slow breakfasts and evening meals for everyone.
On organising the weekend Pat was very helpful answering my endless questions patiently and clearly.
A beautiful part of the Peak District. I would recommend this idyllic, secluded cottage to anyone. Many of the 'hens' asked how I found it and were very impressed. The cottage was pivotal in making the weekend a success and by Monday is was quite missed by all!
First sight of the cottage was stunning - beautiful stonework and stone mullioned windows in a landscaped garden - and the sun was shining! The description of the cottage, facilities and grounds in the listing is accurate and it provided a very comfortable week for 8 retired gents who were reliving some of their youth on a cycling holiday. The property and grounds were in good condition throughout and are being well maintained. The cottage was also very clean on our arrival. Beds were comfortable (be careful not to sit up too quickly if you get a bed under the eaves!), facilities generally first class with plenty of crockery and other equipment for a houseful. To be honest, we didn't put too much strain on the kitchen, eating most of our meals out. The owners visited on arrival and gave a good intro to the property, its facilities and the surrounding area. They also explained how to manage the hot tub, which provided welcome relaxation after our busy days. Very good customer service! We would all like to visit this cottage again and warmly recommend it. The immediate locale is also welcoming, with pleasant company and tasty meals in The Black Horse Inn and the Nags Head (walking distance), the Red Lion (Hognaston), the Cross Keys (towards Belper) and the Knockerdown Inn (how could we resist it?). The only place we didn't feel welcome was the Tiger Inn towards Belper - very busy and understaffed when we visited.
We hired the cottage for a hen weekend, there were 10 of us in total. The cottage is breathtaking and had plenty of room for us all to cook and dine together. We were impressed with the fully equipped kitchen and use of a dishwasher helped enourmously. The outdoor space was great too, we sunbathed in the garden, had a BBQ, dined and used the hot tub which was a real treat. The owners were really helpful and quick to respond to any questions I had in the lead up to the booking. I would highly recommend.
