This little Mexican style bungalow was restored to honor the family that lived here and farmed in the Dell Valley. From a little rustic porch enter a handcrafted, fully stocked kitchen. It opens to the cozy living room with tv/dvd player. There is one bedroom joined to a very spacious bath/vanity/closet area. the outdoors is xeriscape ,cactus, desert willow and pomagranate. Sparse and simple. Welcome!
I grew up in this area on my family ranch. I left for many years and when I returned I saw more clearly the natural beauty of the area. In restoring all the old buildings I am able to buy, I have discovered a hobby I enjoy very much.
Laura Lynch purchased this cottage in 2011
Your proximity to the Guadalupe National Park, Carlsbad Caverns, Salt Basin Dunes, McKittrick Canyon and Dog Canyon makes this little town the best resting spot for serious hikers and sightseers.
This little bungalow represents the cultural heritage of our community. Our farms and ranches were built by the talent and hard work of the Mexican families. The style honors their beautiful contribution to the Valley. Welcome
My wife and I love to hike the National Parks and we were looking for a place near Guadalupe Mountains and Carlsbad Caverns. We contacted Laura Lynch who has a few VRBO located in Dell City, Tx. Dell City is a quiet farming community with a population of 413 according to their signs. There are two convenience stores and one restaurant which served us well. We enjoy cooking and hanging out after a long day of hiking so the small town atmosphere was good for us. There was some driving involved with Guadalupe Mountains being 43 miles away and Carlsbad 79 miles away but we were good with the drive. Laura was a perfect host meeting us when we arrived and making sure we had everything we needed for our stay. The La Cosa Rosa actually was not available when we arrived so Laura did upgrade us to the 1940 Vintage Adobe Church which was very nice full of upgrades. If your looking for this type of atmosphere then I highly recommend any of facilities Laura has in Dell City as she was a fine host.
We enjoyed our stay in Dell City at the Adobe Church across from La Casa Rosa. Dell City is a friendly, farming community, and the perfect home base for exploration of Guadalupe Mountains National Park, Carlsbad Caverns and the Salt Basin Dunes. It was a treat to come home to the Church, after hiking up Guadalupe Peak, and relaxing outside with a glass of wine and a perfect view of the mountain at sunset! The Church is perfectly appointed and oh so comfortable and spacious. In addition, it's convenient to have the Two T's, a small grocery store, nearby. If you want to cook or barbecue Laura has the kitchen well equipped and larger grocery stores can be found in Van Horn, Carlsbad or El Paso before you arrive into town. It's a beautiful and peaceful corner of west Texas and we hope to have the opportunity to return. Thank you, Laura!
Laura was a fabulous hostess and our 3-day stay was marvelous. By the time we left we felt like "locals" and we didn't want to leave! The house had everything we could ever want or need....plus a homey look and feel no tourist trap-type lodging could ever hope to match. Soooo glad we chose to stay here-we hope to return!
To say I was impressed is an understatement. I already miss the place. An updated adobe in a quaint, far west Texas town. The furniture and décor was spot on. The Spanish, Mexican, and Texan influences worked perfectly to create the vibe we were seeking. Being 13 miles or so from 60/180 was great. Zero traffic noise at night. If you like crowing roosters in the morning and cooing dove on the power lines in the evening, this place is for you. Our house shared an extremely nice, large courtyard with a couple of other houses Laura rents. The views of the Guadalupe Mountains to the east is very nice in the early evening. I can still hear the music drifting in from the fandango somewhere on the other side of town & taste the margarita salt. Oh yea, the people are nice as heck too. Finally, Laura was always available, helpful and pretty much awesome. I can't wait to get back and try the church next time. It seems Dell City should rebrand itself as a mecca for stressed out city slickers.
PS- We used the lovely house as base camp for Guadalupe Mountains NP, Carlsbad Caverns NP, and Hueco Tanks SP.
La Casa Rosa is 12 miles from the Salt Basin Dunes and about 35 miles from the trailhead to the Guadalupe National Park.
