This cabin is tucked away in a gated Golf Course community with the quiet and peacefullness that you are looking for in the mountains. We are on the peaceful side of the mountain with a short trip to Pigeon Forge & Gatlinburg for all the commercial activities (Dollywood) to include snow and snow skiing. Enjoy the hot tub on the deck under the stars or the jacuzzi in the great room. This cabin has a king size bed situated in the great room in front of the fireplace with a queen size hide abed for the little ones. Everyone enjoys the fireplace. Very cozy. About Lucy Barnes

We purchased this little cabin for our get away and a place to sit back and relax more upon retirement. Lex has been coming to Maryville & Townsend since he was a young boy. His Mother grew up in Maryville and he spent his summers with his Grandparents. My first trip to the Smokeys was when I was 16.

We have had it under management with a company in Townsend and have decided to personally takeover the management so we can have a hands on with our guest. We are always available for questions. As a realtor for 37 years I know how to work from my computer and phone at any given time. We take pride in our ownership and maintenance. Lex, upon retirement, got his Captain's License and now offers fishing charters in Crystal River along with scalloping trips. I am currently with Re/Max and have recently had my son, Nathan, rejoin me. We have 2 older boys John and Steven with 8 Grandchildren and 1 Great Granddaughter. We are very family oriented and understand the value of family time and vacations. We are both natives of Crystal River, Fl .

Lucy Barnes purchased this cabin in 1995

Why Lucy Barnes chose Townsend

We chose this property because of the quaintness, cozyness and privacy. The security of being in a gated community was a superb benefit as we are out of state owners. We enlarged the deck and added the hot tub and outside swing.

What makes this cabin unique

Quiet and relaxing..........We love bringing Grandchildren and everyone enjoying the fireplace and making memories. One set of Grandchildren love the Pigeon Forge area and the others love the outdoors of the creeks and tubing. Something for everyone.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Santa & I wanted to let you know that we absolutely loved the cabin. We got home to a whirlwind Easter weekend and the week was not much better. The week away in the mountains was exactly what we needed. The cabin was so quiet and peaceful, we hard;y wanted to leave to go

eat or sightseeing. We have decided that we don't need to tell too many people about Townsend or it will become the overcrowded tourist trap that Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge are. We did venture out , but were always glad to get back to the peace and quiet of the cabin.

Our favorite things about the cabin were the great kitchen and the beautiful rustic bed. We were also glad that it was cool enough for a fire a couple of nights. The Cades Cove display was beautiful and even more so when we discovered the light switch Another fascinating discovery was the red-tailed hawk's nest that we spotted in the tall pine tree between cabin 3 and cabin 4. We were able to watch the male hawk come and go taking care of mama hawk on the nest. The outdoor swing was also a favorite feature of ours.

So, to sum it up, the Magnolia Cabin gets two thumbs up from Santa & Mrs. Claus. Hopefully it will be available next year if we are blessed to make the get-away to the mountains. In the meantime, we will be sharing with our family and friends what a great place it is. Thank you for sharing it with us.

Cozy, Quiet, Perfect

  • 5 of 5

This cabin was wonderful! It was secluded and quiet. It’s a drive to Pigeon Forge/Gatlinburg but we personally enjoyed not having to deal with all the traffic & people. The owners have everything you need in the cabin, most places you have to bring your own toliet paper/garbage bags. We got there and the porch light was out but we had light bulbs available to change ourselves. The hot tubs was great, the bed was probably the most comfortable bed we’ve slept in other than our own. The jacuzzi tube was relaxing. They have wood also available for the fireplace. This cabin was perfect for our getaway wedding anniversary. We will be back!

Cozy, well kept, & nicely equipped cabin in a private yet secure setting

  • 5 of 5

My wife & I really enjoyed our stay at this wonderful cabin. It has the perfect balance of privacy and security. After a long day of shopping and sight seeing in the Smokies, it was nice to return to this peaceful and charming cabin. We also loved the town and people of Townsend...it definitely lives up to its name 'the quiet side of the Smokies'.

Relaxing, cozy cabin in the trees

  • 5 of 5

We loved our stay at The Magnolia cabin. We were fortunate enough to be there on the back deck to watch the total solar eclipse of August 21. While not all visitors will have such a celestial event grace their stay, the cabin offers many other benefits. We loved grilling and eating out on the back deck, and the hot tub was a definite bonus. Comfortable bed. The cabin is situated in Laurel Valley, a perfect jumping off point to explore the Great Smoky Mountains National Park and Cades Cove. We hope to be back!
