Walk from your unit direcly into the ocean and start snorkeling!

New stove as of June 1st 2018! - 2 Bed - 2 full Baths - Highly Upgraded - Central AC - Sleeps up to 6.

Swim, snorkel, surf, kayak right in front of our property! This is a Direct Ocean Front property which faces the islands of Lanai and Molokai. Plus you can walk from our property On the beach or on beach paths for 3 miles all the way down to Kaanapali.

Maui Sands 1J is a oversized (1000+ sq ft), highly upgraded (granite, travertine floors), 2 bedroom, 2 full bath unit with CENTRAL AC located on a direct ocean front property in north Kaanapali (Honokowai). We are the ONLY unit in this entire complex with central AC! All other Maui Sands units only have 1 window AC unit located in the living rooms only. No AC units allowed in back bedrooms! Not us though! Central, entire unit! Our unit is located on the 2nd floor (top floor) and overlooks the pool and garden area of the property. Maui Sands has 7, two story buildings with no elevators so you'll have to walk up about 10 stairs to the 2nd floor.

Family Friendly Unit:

If you have kids, this is is a wonderful family friendly unit as it has bunk beds in the 2nd bedroom and the master bedroom has it's own private full bath for complete privacy. Kids and other guests can use the 2nd full bathroom in the hallway!

Maui Sands Location:

We are just a short 5 minutes from Kaanapali Resort area and 10 minutes from Lahaina. Maui Sands (between Papakea and Paki Maui) has 78 condos in 7 different buildings with lots of grass areas for kids to play. This particular unit is on the 2nd floor (top) and overlooks the pool and tropical garden of the property. Although the property is on the ocean, this unit does not have a nice ocean view. More like a "peek - a - boo" small ocean view between the palm trees. However, you can still hear the ocean waves during a swell and It's only a one minute walk past the pool to our ocean area.


This unit has a very very tiny tiny view of the ocean between the palm trees. Seriously, it's very small! Please see the video! The ocean view can increase or decrease depending on the gardeners and when they trim the trees. Honestly, if you must have an ocean view, this isn't going to satisfy you! We rent 6 other units on this property and if you have to have a clear ocean view, we have others but, in all honesty, our other units are not a upgraded as this one; They won't have 2 full bathrooms (just 1) and they don't have central air conditioning. From this unit, it's only about a 1 minute walk down the middle of the property to the ocean.


- No need to pack up and drive to go snorkel!

- Walk down to Kaanapali....ON THE BEACH for 3 miles.

Long Beach Walks starting next door:

Walk for miles ON THE BEACH all the way down to black rock in Kaanapli starting from the next door property Papakea.

Keep in mind, no property north of us, Kahana, Napili or Kapalua areas can say that you can actually walk on the beach for 3 miles! Those properties may say they have a beach but watch out...most likely it's small cove beach that you CAN'T walk on for more than 5 minutes! You'll see all those guests walking on the street down to our property or Papakea's then walking on the beach. Depending on the tide, you may have to step in the ocean and walk to the next property, Papakea to start you beach walk. But, if you don't want to get wet, just use the walking beach path which starts at Kaanapali Shores. Two properties down.

TV's in every room, dvd Player, kitchen appliances, radio/CD Player, travertine floors & two highly upgraded FULL bathrooms with showers.


The master bedroom suite has ceiling fan, queen sized bed, tv and a lock off door to provide privacy for it's own private bathroom.


2nd bedroom has a ceiling fan, tv, dvd player and a bunk bed(singe mattress on top with a twin sized mattress on the bottom). Under the bed you'll find an additional full size mattress.

A pull out sofa sleeper, large tv and love seat.


The unit's full kitchen is fully stocked with all cooking utensils, refrigerator (ice machine not connected, but industrial ice machine below you at the pool), oven/microwave and a 4 burner stove.


The lanai is where you'll spend most of your time! With seating for 6, it's very comfortable and you'll be able to watch your other guests or your kids play at the pool below. Enjoy bbq'ing right at the pool and bring your food up to your unit for a romantic steak or sea food dinner!


- Direct Ocean Front Property facing the islands of Lanai and Molokai.

- Just 5 minutes from Kaanapali and 10 ot Lahaina town

- Very end of North Kaanapali Beach in between Papakea resort and Paki Maui.

- Walk to Kaanapali, black rock or Dukes Restaurant ON THE BEACH.

- Very quiet and peaceful.

- Large grass areas, large pool (non heated, but no need!) and 2 bbq areas


Swimming, swimming and swimming! Baby beach area during low tide! Its great for kids to walk around and catch fish in nets because the water warms up (reefs block the waves during low tide) and it's only about a foot deep. If you want to snorkel, just swim over or around the reef! The reefs are where the fish are anyway! You can snorkel, surf, stand up paddle board, kite surf, kayak or just collect shells right from this our property! See the video I put together of guests enjoying the ocean. No need to get ready, jump in a car and drive to a beac to snorkel. Simply, walk from your unit with just your snorkel and mask and jump in the ocean. Right in front of you are two giant reefs and I guarantee you'll see a fish within 5 seconds! I lived on this property for 5 years and I've seen turtles, octopus, monk seals, lobster, puffer fish and all kinds of marine animals.


Since we are at the very very end of a super long beach, the sand moves up and down the beach a lot. It comes and goes depending on storms, tides and the currents but tpically during the summer months we have more sand out front. However, if you have to lay out, the ocean front park just on the other side of Paki Maui has a large beach area with sand all year around. And no, we cannot predict when we will have a large sand area in from of Maui Sands. The sand moves up and down the coast a lot!


20-30 minute WALK DOWN THE BEACH and your at the the world famous Dukes Restaurant, North Kaanapali Beach & Black Rock. If you can't walk from our property on the beach during during high tide or if there is low sand, start from next door, Papakea and walk the ocean front pathway. We used to do this every sunset. We'd walk for hours passing and checking out all the other large resorts like Honua Kai, The Westin Resort and Villas and Kaanapali Beach Club.

Joe and Jackie Johnson. We are a family of 6 and bought this condo for our family vacations. We installed bunk beds for our kids in our 2nd bedroom and have an extra mattress under the beds for additional sleeping arrangements. We remodeled this unit 5 years ago and added central air conditioning and a 2nd bathroom! We are the only unit in all of Maui Sands that has two bathrooms! We stayed here on vacation 10 years ago and fell in love with the neighbors and how quiet the property was directly on the ocean. Every night we go down to the ocean deck and meet other owner and renters and sip on our cocktail. It's old school Hawaii where the plants on the property are now trees! You'll love the interior of this property! Very spread out and spacious units. Like how it used to be in Hawaii

What makes this condo unique

Snorkeling right in front of our property! Many days we don't even leave the property. My husbands snorkels for a few hours and ill read and watch. Then I'll lounge at the pool while he chit chats with everyone around the pool area. We also love the central location. If we want to go to dinner in Lahaina and walk around, it's only 5-10 minutes away. If we want to enjoy the best beach in the entire world...we drive 2 minutes to Kaanapali Beach. If we want to swim with dolphins we head up 5 minutes north to Kapalua Bay.

Beautiful but somethings could have been better

There were ants in the kitchen and bathrooms and some cockroaches in the kitchen, there was a threat of a hurricane and no flash lights and the tea light candles were almost gone. Other than that we had a good time.

Spacious Condo in a Great Location

My family (two adults and two teenagers) stayed in Maui Sands 1J for 5 nights in July 2018. The condo is clean, spacious and comfortable. It's really nice having a place to spread out versus being on top of each other in a hotel room. We enjoyed being able to cook for ourselves as well. The kitchen has a basic set of tools, pots and pans, and spices, but lacks items you can put in the oven (large cookie sheet, casserole dishes). The lanai was a great place to sit in the evenings to relax. We all found the beds to be comfortable. The Central AC was great, though a little loud.

The location is fantastic! Just across the street there's a strip mall with several delicious restaurants. You're within walking distance to a grocery store and a place to rent snorkel and beach equipment. While there wasn't any beach right in front of the property (you'd step directly into the ocean), you are minutes away from Napili Beach, Kapaula Beach and Kahekili Beach. The wooden deck area pictured on VBRO was closed off during our stay.

The only downside is that the bedrooms are on the side of the building close to the road. The first night we heard a lot of road noise, which quieted down by 8:00 or 9:00 pm, but sometimes I'd hear loud pedestrians or people shrieking by on scooters. Honestly after the second night, I slept through it all. White noise machines are provided in the bedrooms, but we didn't end up using them.

We would definitely stay in this condo again. The location, price, and comfort were outstanding!

Fantastic find

The Maui Sands condo was perfect for our family vacation. Loved the easy access to stores and restaurants, and the beach with double reef was great for snorkeling. Saw lots of colorful fish, and even a very friendly turtle! The condo was clean and spacious, and the a/c was a big plus. Thanks for providing a great base for our stay.

Great condo near the beach

We are a family of 5, 3 kids between 11 and 15. This was a great place to stay. Beach, rental shops, restaurants, ABC store and more are all within walking distance.

The condo is clean and recently updated. It was great having our own kitchen so we could cook meals and not have to eat out every time. The lanai was great: lot's of comfortable chairs and assorted outdoor furniture with a view that overlooks the pool and commons area. When we weren't at the beach we spent a lot of time sitting on the lanai.

We would definitely stay at this property again.

Comfortable, convienent, perfect for a family.

We stayed in Maui Sands 1J May 13-32, 2018. There were 5 in our family, two being teenage girls.What a great unit. Nicely remodeled, comfortable beds, clean linens, great A/C. The bunk bed was perfect for the kids, and the 2 bathrooms were a must. The IJ unit is located on the road and at times the road noise, especially from passing motorcycles, is very loud. But the owners have provided a noise machine which does help. The kitchen is well equipped but could use some more bowls.The Maui Sands property is one of the oldest properties in Maui but it is very well maintained. The pool and pool area and grills were very clean and in good working order. The grounds were well manicured. We were disappointed to get there and see that the deck overlooking the ocean and the stairs to the water were blocked off, we talked to Jerry, the resident manager and he let us know there is a serious problem with beach erosion, a problem plaguing all the beaches in the area. He then pointed out that we could still acsess the beach around building 4. Maui Sands is also located perfectly. You can walk to Bad Ass Coffee (I highly recommend) the farmers market and the strip mall across the street has Ohana Tacos, The Fish Market and a deli as well. I also recommend the Latino Market for tacos(authentic) it is next door to the farmers market. There is also a public park across the street from the farmers market which is good for little children and is right on the beach. The best public beach Access is a 8-10 min walk starting from the condo, from there you can get on the Kaanapali boardwalk, which goes on and on. Lahaina is about a 10-15 min drive and Kapalua Bay and Napili are about the same.

All in all I would recommend this unit and property. It’s perfect for families or travelers on a budget, people who want a convienent, clean, home away from home experience. But if you’re looking for the fancy resort type experience where you just lay by the pool drinking Mai tais this is not the right fit for you. If you need a comfortable place to lay your head and rest up from your day of swimming, snorkeling, hiking, surfing and running around the island, this is it.

Very clean, and nicely decorated. Lanai gets a great breeze while overlooking the pool.

This was our first visit to Maui, or any Hawaiian island, and it will definently not be our last. Only wish there was more beach during our stay, but speaking with the locals it just depends on the tide. We still enjoyed the shallow water when the tide was low, and got some great pictures of sea anemone's and sea cucumbers, saw some crabs crawling on the rocks, and a whole filled with hermit crabs! But the best thing was our visit from a monk seal. He decided to invade the beach for a day - but it was fun to sea so close! Then a few sea turtles floated by as well.
