Pelican View is absolutely the best of the best! Oh, my goodness! Having your first cup of coffee in the mornings on the balcony of the master suite was amazing! And so easy since we had the lovely "coffee station" right in the suite.....very thoughtful!
This was our 5th trip to the Cape and we honestly didn't even consider booking with anyone else. We've really come to appreciate all the extras that you include, the way you have simplified the check-in and check-out procedures, the beautiful, immaculate condos and, of course, the gorgeous, uncrowded beach!
Maisie, our little Westie, had a great time! She loves the beach (and just looks so adorable because she is the exact color of the white sand!) Our friends (many of whom are more familiar with Panama City and Destin) simply cannot believe that we put our "beach stuff" out on Saturday when we arrive and don't bring ti in until we have to leave for home. It just doesn't get much better than that....
Our 2 sons and their lovely wives were able to join us this year. Although we all live within 30 minutes of each other, we seldom have time to just relax and be together. One evening we bought some fresh shrimp and prepared a wonderful scampi with angel hair pasta. We all ate together out on the deck as the sun was setting. There was a nice breeze and we had such a good time laughing and talking over one another. That is a memory I will always cherish...
Every year we think we've had the best vacation ever and this year was certainly no exception. We can't wait to get back to the Cape!
Thank you for everthing you continue to do to make our experience enjoyable and stress-free. We'll be in touch as soon as we know how our schedule looks for next time.
Again, many, many thanks!
Arrived back home safe and sound and refreshed. The relaxation afforded from the Evans unit (Pelican View #12) and surroundings (gulf front ocean view from bedroom, living room, and deck) is phenomenal. It is a true “home away from home” feeling one gets when staying here. The seclusion and privacy this location offers is hard to come by these days. For me, Fall is the best time to visit. You can walk on the beach with your dog for miles and not see anyone! It’s as if you have the whole place to yourself and whomever you would like to share that experience with.
I went down with the intention of sharing this special place with a shelter dog I have adopted. Lexie is a very sweet shy young girl (hound mix)…seeing her wide eyed reaction to the sand and ocean for the first time was priceless!!! We did 7-mile bike rides down to the trading post store and back every morning. She runs by my side, on a leash, as I ride. We then relaxed on the deck to perfect weather. The afternoon and evening temps on average 72/52F respectively with wind and ocean calm. She improved her swimming skills and played with other well-mannered dogs.
Prior to arriving at the Cape Friday afternoon, we of course stocked up on a week’s worth of groceries at the piggly wiggly and also made a pit stop at Port St Joe’s Shrimp Co for some tuna steaks and shrimp. Thanks for your hospitality Wendy, have a great Thanksgiving
Be back soon,
We had a wonderful time at Cape San Blas. The condo was absolutely perfect! This is our 3rd time visiting the Cape and staying at Barrier Dunes Pelican View (12). We love it. Condo was well stocked. We built bonfires on the beach at night and met lots of new friends. We also went horseback riding on the beach at sunset which was wonderful! I'm sending you some pictures of our fun times. As you can see our dogs had just as much fun as we did!!
Thanks again for everything. We will be back next year!
Be gone, Panama City, Destin, Ft, Walton Beach, and Seaside! We've finally found our perfect three-night Panhandle destination! Cape San Blas is somewhere we can see spending long weekends over and over again. Barrier Dunes is clearly the place to stay, and Pelican View is the "pick of the litter" for the oceanfront townhomes available for rent. I ditto everything "Buffy" said in the previous review. We're making plans to stay at Pelican View again next April...shhh, don't tell! We want to keep this FABULOUS townhouse to ourselves!!
We've been to The Cape many times but this is our first time staying in Barrier Dunes. Pelican View was in excellent condition and by far, the best "stocked" home we've ever stayed in. Usually, we have to buy the basics--salt, pepper, olive oil, cooking spray, foil, trash and sandwich bags, etc etc. However, we were pleasantly surprised to find it all there. Unlike many others places we've stayed in at The Cape, the unit was also exceptionally clean--another nice surprise. The AC worked BEAUTIFULLY and the extra unit in the 3rd Floor Master was much appreciated. This unit is right on and looks straight at the water--the VERY BEST views of The Gulf. Also, our deck was VERY private. Captains chairs were a nice touch for dolphin and turtle watching.. Nicely decorated and very well taken care of. The community pool was also a huge hit with our kids...Big kudos to the owners as well as the Mgmt Company. We will definitely be back. :-)
We had a wonderful time. The condo was immaculate and all the amenities provided made it easy. I particularly like the clean and beautiful beach and I love going "next door" to explore the gorgeous State Park. We'll definitely be back!
First, let me start by saying that the description of the unit was underrated. It is so much more than described! We realized just how close to the water we were as we pulled into the covered parking area. Immediate view of the gulf! The amenities in the beach closet were great - not all are listed, as there is an umbrella, plenty of beach chairs, nets, coolers, etc. The layout of the unit worked very well for us. Lots of stairs, but that was okay. Very well kept unit that was clean, inviting, and relaxing. Loved the open living/dining/kitchen area. Great for spending time with family. The kitchen was very well stocked with dishes and spices. The second floor had two rooms - a queen and a 2-twin. The twins were comfortable, but maybe not long enough for 6'+ growing teenagers (ha!). Both rooms were clean and well appointed. The third floor suite is the crowning jewel. Very roomy with an amazing king sized bed that I wish I could have fit in the suitcase to bring back home! Some notes... If you plan on making a cake, you may want a mixer. Blender and everything else worked wonderfully. Do note that you cannot use the microwave, the toaster, and the coffee pot at the same time. You will flip a breaker. Easy fix, though! One of the beds in the twin room covers the air vent - we just pulled it away from the wall and all was good. We had a few maintenance notes to leave, but nothing at all that detracted from our trip. I would return here again and again and again. I traveled with my mother, father, husband, son, daughter, and nephew. Plenty of room for us. We visited the state park and swam in the bay - BE SURE TO WEAR SHOES! There are plenty of sea urchins - from experience, picking spines out of a foot is not fun. We highly recommend you go to Coneheads, visit the Trading Post, have supper at Dockside's, get morning donuts (go early, though - he sells out quickly!). One note that I wish people would pay attention to - DON'T LEAVE YOUR ITEMS ON THE BEACH OVERNIGHT! There is a beach ordinance and it is because of the sea turtles - it can affect their nesting. Not to mention it looked like a tent city when people left all their items out. We did trash clean up every morning on the beach. Finally, CUSTOMER SERVICE!!! Wendy was by far the most friendly, competent person I have ever had the pleasure of working with. She was always prompt on answering my million questions, was easy to talk to and easy to work with. I think many could take lessons from her!!!
