This 5 bedroom, 3 1/2 bath home is located on the intra-coastal waterway, in a quiet gated community, 20 minutes from Historic downtown Charleston. This house, surrounded by live oaks, offers a relaxing Southern atmosphere. The wrap-around porch offers a variety of natural views. This 3 story home has elevator access to each floor. The top floor has 3 bedrooms with queen beds and an open bonus room with a double bed. The main floor boasts a large family room, a kitchen, and a dining room overlooking the Stono river. Just off the family room is the master suite with a king bed and a private bath with an antique claw foot tub and separate walk in shower. There is also a double bed located off the kitchen with a connecting half bath. This river home sleeps 10 to 12 people comfortably and is ideal for connecting with nature and relaxing.

Dream of a lazy summer day on the Carolina coast, and soon a vision of the Stono River House may surface. It is the perfect place for a family gathering. And, with nine senior citizens in our group, having the elevator was a much appreciated bonus. Also, having three full baths and one half bath was a convenient feature.

The words that may best describe this property are "spacious and private." There is plenty of room outside and plenty of room inside. The property is at the end of quiet road that is gated at night. The outside space is expansive and attractive with a pond in back and a lawn sloping to river in front. Deer and turtles may be seen at the back pond. And, the pier in front ends at a gazebo, another bonus for fishing on sunny days. For being on the pier at night, one should have a flashlight. For us, being near the water was a special pleasure. But, if small children are in your party, close supervision will be required given the proximity of house to deep waters

Inside the living room is a great place to gather. And, there is room on the wrap-around porch for all to be together or to find private spaces. Plus, a part of the porch, the part connected by doors to main-floor master bedroom, is screened. The large kitchen has two sinks which makes it easy for several people to help with cooking at the same time. Bedrooms are of a generous size, and they provide calm spaces for personal retreats.

Although I had seen the photos, I did not know what the reality would be. But, I could not have wished for more. The furnishings were comfortable. Parking was ample. Every thing that was to be in house was there including the all-important washer, dryer, dishwasher and AC. All appliances functioned as they should. The house was clean. And, the security deposit was refunded in two weeks as provided.

Because we were cooking in the mornings and in the evenings for nine people, we anticipated refrigerator space would be limited. So, we brought two large coolers for cold drinks. I could get ice every morning at a nearby gas station. Keeping the drinks in coolers on porch and out of the frig worked well, leaving ample space in frig for food.

If you need a large, spacious, private, comfortable coastal property for a gathering, this is a perfect choice.

Great Location and Views

The entire family enjoyed their stay and enjoyed fishing and crabbing! Wish the weather could have been better (Alberto is to blame), but the house was clean, open and inviting. We would definitely stay here again!

Beautiful, comfortable, peaceful!

This is an amazing property available at a great nightly rate. Plenty of space in bedrooms & common areas. Lovely master suite. Well-stocked kitchen. The porch, yard and dock are “icing on the cake”! The owner was gracious and provided information and answers to questions as needed.

A great place to stay

We were in Charleston with family. The house is spacious, beautiful, comfortable and sparkling clean. We had everything we needed to stay, sleep and even cook! The water and docks nearby are an amazing addition. It is a 25-30 min drive to downtown Charleston. The host was very responsive and very nice. I will stay again at this location in a heartbeat.

The house was perfect for our needs. It was in a nice quiet area. The neighbors were very friendly. The house was clean and well kept. It was close to all of our planned activities. We would definitely stay there again if the opportunity presented itself. Thank you for making our stay so pleasant.
