|Minimum Stay||2 nights|
Quaint renovated bungalow located just one and a half blocks from the campus of Missouri State University. Only minutes from JQH arena, Springfield Cardinals Baseball and downtown Springfield, which features a variety of restaurants and entertainment. Within two miles of Mercy Hospital and three miles from Bass Pro.
Originally built in 1915, it has two bedrooms, one bath with a comfortable living area. Larger dining area with seating for six. Claw foot tub with shower, Queen Bed in Master, trundled twin beds in second bedroom.
All old homes are quirky, and remind us that life was much different 100 years ago. Bedrooms are small and living is close. Doors creek and don't always shut; everything has been painted four or five times. But that's what gives these homes their charm. Although the walls are old, everything else is nearly new. Sleeps 4 in beds. There is a couch in the living area, but it does not fold out, (if needed, someone could sleep on it). New stove and refrigerator with breakfast nook for two. Large fenced backyard with plenty of space to play and a deck with a fire pit for nice evenings outside. We have a couple of bikes available for use. Hi-speed Internet (3mb^/3mb). 42 inch smart TV over gas fireplace offers access to Netflix and the internet.
Hardware floors throughout, lots of natural lighting. A very comfortable place to relax and unwind, or enjoy watching cars pass by while on the front porch swing.
This is an ideal place for a small young family of four. If you need space for more than five, please search VRBO for something larger. It costs a bit more than other rentals because we use the space as our own get-away, and we are looking for renters who are more interested in quality than the lowest price. At this time the only discount we offer is reflected in the weekly rate. We also have a strict no pet policy and a strict no smoking policy (no smoking in the house or outside--if you are or someone in your party smokes, we kindly ask you to make other arrangements for lodging. If you have a service animal, please contact us to see if our home is suitable for your needs).
We purchased this home for our personal use when we stay in Springfield, but realized that we didn't use it as much as we thought we would. We have several rentals, but this is our first try at Vacation Home renting. Over the last 10 years, we have used VRBO for our personal vacations, and enjoy staying in a nice home rather than a carbon-copied hotel room. We wanted to see if being a VRBO owner would be as nice as being a VRBO user.
Thomas & Sarah Jones purchased this bungalow in 2015
The downtown-MSU corridor is the nicest part of Springfield--with its older homes, large trees and vibrant atmosphere, its close proximity to downtown and arts, there is a real sense of community in this area. That's why most of the VRBO rentals in Springfield are located so close to one another.
A nice blend of old charm and modern accessories.
This was a perfect spot for MSU parent weekend. We were 1/2 mile from our daughter's sorority house. It was clean, had a porch with a swing and a nice TV to watch our Cubbies play. The only suggestion that I have is to have screens on the windows so you could open them and let in the cool night air. We call dibs for next year's parent weekend!
This is the second time I have stayed at this property. The house is well-appointed and decorated tastefully. I find the rooms to be very comfortable. There are extra linens and plenty of closet space.
The owners were very responsive to a request we had.
I find the location very convenient. I can get to anyplace in Springfield within minutes.
It was a great weekend with wonderful accommodations. The house is perfect with tons of charm. The owners go the extra mile to make sure everything is there to make it a home away from home. Thanks!
Was in Springfield for Pilates training and the setting was prefect to come back to and relax. Owners were great to work with and really no complaints.
We had never been to Springfield before so we relied highly on the information provided for this property. The bungalow was exactly as described. It is right on one of the main streets that lead right up to Missouri State University and were I to have a student at this school, this is the property that I would choose! The bungalow is easily accessed off the street with convenient parking to the side of the home. Thomas and Sarah provided great information for the home and it was available for us both a bit before check-in time and then the day of departure as well. Unfortunately for us, we were on quite a time schedule and were not able to stay longer but we would have! The house is really well equipped and very organized. The kitchen had everything we needed and our hosts even had a basket of snacks and water bottles for us upon our arrival. It was also nice that there was coffee and some condiments in the kitchen. I can attest to the comfort of the queen bed in the main bedroom and my daughter, who slept in the smaller bedroom at the back of the home in the trundle bed, said she slept soundly as well. The home also had plenty of brochures regarding things to do in the area as well as board games. Luckily for us, the TV worked well as we wanted to watch the Olympics during the time that we were able to be in the home. We did use the kitchen quite a bit as we shopped for groceries and ate breakfasts and dinners in the home. This is why we choose properties with a kitchen and hence I can't really provide any info regarding restaurants in the area. But I can tell you, that there is a Dominoes Pizza, a Panera, and a Bakery/Patisserie all within walking distance to the Bungalow. It's also an excellent property to walk out your front door for a good long walk or run. The backyard provides ample space to spread out. If traveling with small kids (or even large ones), it's a good place to relax, throw a ball around, or just stretch your legs. The bungalow is one we'll remember. So, in terms of any recommendations? Really, the only thing I would recommend to Sarah and Thomas is to maybe add a couple of slip proof stickers in the tub. It's not a big deal and the free-standing tub and the bathroom are so cute. All in all, this property exceeded our expectations because of the simple touches (the scented hand-wash in the bathroom, the extra water bottles, the snacks) and the home was just "comfortable". Thank you Sarah and Thomas!
Our family of four enjoyed three nights in this comfortable bungalow. The kids especially enjoyed the snacks and games provided. The fenced backyard was a perfect gathering place for happy hour. We also enjoyed the porch swing out front. The house was close to campus, with many dining options within walking distance. We would happily book these accommodations again.
