Melt away your stress vacationing on this beautiful property right on sparkling Taylor Pond. With almost 200' of shoreline, you can swim, fish, canoe or just relax in the hammock. Situated on the sandy bottomed side of Taylor Pond, which spans approximately two miles by one mile, this property gets the sun for most of the day. Swim, kayak or fish until sunset (or after) in the sparkling waters. A window and screen wrap around porch in the front greets the pond with plenty of sitting space. The side deck is perfect for grilling out and serving your meals in the spacious yard, canopied by pines. Kayaks, canoes, tubes and fishing gear lie below in the basement that also opens to the pond. Private dock allows for easy put-ins of these watercraft, swimming, fishing or just enjoying the scenery. Very close to BATES College. All sorts of dining and shopping is close-by. One and one half baths and a full laundry room compliment the convenience of the house. Three bedrooms, including a master on the pond, allow for plenty of sleeping room when the loons sing you to sleep after a long, joyous day on the Pond.
We are a married couple with three young children and we use the house every chance we get. It is a special place for us and we hope you enjoy it as much as we do.
Jim and Catherine Murphy purchased this house in 2011
This cottage has been in our family for over thirty years. Our family has enjoyed gathering here for family cookouts for a long time, and once the property became available to us, we jumped at the chance. Since 2008 we have owned the property and we have been taking our three children ever since. It is a serene place where the children love to swim and fish and we love to watch the sunsets together on our screened in porch.
The beauty of the cottage is in its location on the lake. We get the most spectacular sunsets! You can see them while you are cooking your dinner, or lying in the hammock in the yard. The lake is peaceful and provides a place to recharge and to be with family or to be alone and enjoy the quiet.
If you like the water this is the place to stay. We enjoyed kayaking on the lake, swimming & fishing. We made smores on the campfire in the evenings.
It was nice to have Walmart, grocery stores, shopping and restaurants nearby. We visited Portland, Freeport and Boothbay which were not too far away.
We enjoyed a 3 day weekend on Taylor Pond and would definitely stay again. The location was convenient, only 10 minutes from Lewiston. The hosts were accommodating and everything was as expected based on the pictures and description. Our only regret was it was a little too chilly for a spin in the kayaks.
A perfect end of summer vacation, close to Auburn/Lewiston and many restaurants yet so secluded! In my opinion the house would be a bit small for two families, but oh that porch! I could sit on that all day and all night long. Super comfortable porch furniture and amazing lake view! And the owner was friendly and responsive. Hope to visit again!!!
We had a perfect stay for 3 days in September. There were 2 families that shared the house for the weekend and there was plenty of room. The house is incredibly well stocked from all the kitchen appliances you may need to any activity (ranging from indoor board games/movies to outdoor paddleboards/kayaks and canoeing). The house is clearly loved by all those who have stayed there.
The house is right on the lake and has amazing views. There's lots of outdoor space to sit around the firepit and roast marshmallows, sit in the adirondak chairs and watch the sunset or to swim from the dock. There are a few houses close by, mostly old lakeside cottages but it does not feel closed in.
We stayed in at the property for three days while attending my sons graduation from Bates College. It was absolutely lovely - much better than expected and so much better than staying at a hotel! The setting is so picturesque and tranquil. The house is spacious and well equipped (we particularly enjoyed the screened in porch). The owners were accessible and friendly. We only wish we had had more time to enjoy the lake - we will definitely be back!
Half hour from Freeport. 35 minutes from downtown Portland.
