This lovely apartment is situated in Castlefields, one of Shrewsbury’s many conservation areas. There are two local pubs within a five minute walk and a local convenience shop (eight till late) two minutes’ walk away. Behind the apartment, one minute walk, is a playing field-lovely in summer for a walk, picnic or game of football ! The weir on the river Severn is also a two minute walk from the apartment. A ten minute stroll along the river bank brings you into Shrewsbury town centre, or a twenty minute walk, including crossing the Dana bridge and walk, bringing you out opposite Shrewsbury Library.

Excellent property and location!
I had a great stay here. The location is great, the property was lovely and clean and cosy. Helen was very helpful and friendly, was so kind to leave bacon, eggs, bread and milk out for us to have for breakfast.
Will be staying again for sure!
Good value and great location
The flat is very spacious and clean. With just a few extra touches it could be great. Kitchen and sitting room are nice. Bathroom looks recently decorated. Bedroom is large but very dark. Some new paint and nicer bedding, pillows, towels etc would really elevate this property. The kitchen was missing a few essentials like an oven mitt, clean dishcloth and salt & pepper. Location is great for central Shrewsbury and rail station. It’s also a two minute walk to the Severn River, which is stunning. I appreciated the owner leaving bacon & eggs (though I don’t eat them) and she communicated well. However, I was disappointed not to have met her. I’m from out of country and I would have appreciated a little advice about the area. I loved Shrewsbury, especially the walks along the river.
Dear Vanda,
I am sorry that I missed you, too. I had made a holiday arrangement that took me away soon after you arrived! My sister and I had made several attempts to meet you after your arrival, but we didn't manage to catch you in. My sister, who was just next door was always ready to give help.
We do take pride in the quality and cleanliness of our linen and towels. White, 100% cotton towels being the classic standard.
We will get an oven glove. Thanks for the info.
All sorts of condiments, including salt and pepper are to hand in the kitchen cupboards. I'm sad that you missed them and didn't call next door.
There are new disposable dish cloths and a pack of pan pads kept in the undersink cupboard for guests to use. The dishwasher usually does the hard work!
We redecorate the flat once a year..next job scheduled for mid November.
I will replace the central bulb in the bedroom with a brighter one, but keep the lamps as they are.
I am glad that you enjoyed Shrewsbury, tho. It is quite a lively as well as historic town.
Safe onward and homeward journey,
Best Regards
Helena

Convenient City Center / Riverside Apartment
Well appointment generously sized 1-bed apartment located on the ground floor of a mid-terrace town house. Owner (lives next door) responded quickly (to our complete satisfaction) to a minor problem with cookware. On street parking is on a first come first served basis and the Owner indicated that they would be willing to move there own vehicle from outside their property to allow a guest to park closer if necessary.
A couple of recommendations (NOT COMPLAINTS) that would add a little extra convenience - a towel ring / bar on the wall adjacent to the bathroom sink would be a little more convenient than the one closer to the door. Perhaps a cheap chrome toilet paper holder fixed to the wall by the toilet would be a little more convenient than using the toilet brush for this purpose.
In the kitchen, my wife who prefers to cook more than eat out, commented on the lack of a potato peeler, the lack of any cloth pan holders (or whatever they are called in the UK) for taking hot dishes out of the oven etc., a set of kitchen "tongs" for lifting pasta or vegetables from a pan would have been useful. A dish washing sponge with a rough side or one of those with a handle that fills with dish soap would have been useful. An extra bath mat for in front of the bathroom sink would be a good addition to the one in front of the bath.
As coffee drinkers and US residents we were once spoiled by a VRBO owner who supplied a Nespresso coffee machine so that guests could buy their pods of choice from the supermarket. Of course I appreciate that as an investment, one can only invest so much in fixtures and fittings.
Again I would stress that none of these minor points impacted our stay, I am simply pointing out some of the things that one has in one's own home are missed when they are not there in a rental unit.
I would be perfectly happy to return to this Queen Street property on any future visit to the Shrewsbury area.
Lovely flat in a quiet street
Lovely flat, all clean and tidy and well-equipped. Really felt a huge effort had been made to make me feel welcome, including eggs, milk and bacon in the fridge; bread, butter, jam and marmalade arranged attractively on the counter; tea and coffee also provided. This was extra appreciated as I was by myself and arrived late. Little garden was nice to wander about in with my morning coffee and would have been great to spend longer in if weather had been kinder!
No guaranteed parking right outside but this wasn't a problem - it's a very quiet street and I pavement-parked for 2 mins while I quickly took my bags in, then found a space a couple of mins walk away. At the top of the road, turn left onto Burton Street and there were spaces round the corner - worth it for a look at the river and the weir.
