About Roger Howell
My wife and I live in Clevedon, North Somerset. My wife originates from Bristol and I was born and grew up in South Wales before moving to the Bristol area in my late teens. I am a retired Civil Servant and my has recently sold her business and is now working locally part-time. We have travelled extensively.
Roger Howell purchased this Apartment in 2015
Why Roger Howell chose Prodromi
My wife and I met in 1992 and our first holiday together was to the Polis/Latching area of Cyprus. We immediately fell in love with the area which has changed relatively little since our first visit and we have returned there regularly ever since. In 2015 the opportunity arose to purchase our apartment in the village of PRODROMI which is conveniently positioned mid way between the beautiful harbour at Latching and the small town of Polis and we now visit Cyprus more frequently enjoying the company of the many friends that we have made in the area.
What makes this Apartment unique
Has to be the roof terrace with 360 degree views of the sea and mountains and of course the hot tub!
100% refund for cancellations more than 60 days before check-in date. 50% refund for cancellations more than 30 days before check-in date.
Property was wonderful everything you need for a short or long break. The roof terrace is a massive plus. Would like to book again
Hi Alasdair, thank you for this great review. Hope to see you again soon.
we stayed roger,s apartment between 6th and 16 th june.
we have stayed in polis/prodromi previously and have always enjoyed our holidays here, but this has without a doubt the best apt ever.
it was like a home from home, everything that you could possibly need.
the apt was immaculate and in a great location.
communication and all the instructions from roger were second to none.
my wife and myself would highly reccommend this apt.
we will be returning next year, absolutely.
Thank you John and Myra for this great review. It is satisfying for us to know that we are getting things right and that you had a wonderful holiday.
Roger and Jan.
Fantastic apartment with all of your home comforts and more how many of us have hot tub at home...our hosts were brilliant always on hand to give help if needed, i'm sure when people get to know about this little gem this place will become very popular. Great holiday thanks guys👍
Thank you Albert and .Angie Walker for this great review. It was our pleasure to provide you with your holiday destination and hope that we will see you again soon.
Everything you need for a great holiday
The apartment is extremely well equipped with balconies outside both bedroom and sitting room. But the best thing is the roof terrace with large table, chairs, sun loungers and a brilliant Hot Tub.
There is lots of information about where to go and what to see. The nearest beach is just 5mins in the car with great stretch of beach with lots of restaurants to choose from serving good food. Lots of good walking nearby on nature trails.
Highly recommend if you like fairly low key type of holiday.
Thank you for this great review Sue. It is satisfying to know that we are getting things right and that you had a great holiday in our apartment. Thanks again for booking with us and we hope to see you again soon. Kind regards Roger.
We have stayed at the apartment many times and once again we had a lovely stay. The contact prior to stay was, as always, quick and courteous. A warm welcome awaited on arrival and although we had no need to contact Denise and David, their discreet presence was reassuring. The apartment was spotless, and had every facility to make it a home from home stay, with facilities having been regularly updated over the years. The roof terrace and hot tub make it a very special place. Both Podromi and Polis have some lovely places to eat and drink. We very much hope to return for another stay soon.
Thank you for your great review Liz. It was a pleasure to welcome you to our apartment again and to hear that you had a relaxing stay. We hope to welcome you again in the future. Take care. Roger
Perfect home from home
This apartment was in the perfect location for us, near both Polis and Latchi. We have been going to Cyprus for the last 15 years and this definitely tops them all. We could tell as soon as we arrived that this was not just a holiday let but care had been taken to make it a home from home. Roger the owner was really helpful from start to finish. The instructions before and after arrival were really thorough which made the whole process easy. There are many lovely restaurants close at hand and a really good bakers about 5 minutes from the apartment. We hired a car and found lots of taverna's off the beaten track which were fantastic. The complex is small and there was no fighting for sunbeds even though it was August. The other residents were lovely and couldn't be more helpful. We definitely would like to return again in 2018.
Thank you for this fantastic review. It really is rewarding for us to know that we are getting it right and that guests enjoy their holidays in our apartment.
So glad you enjoyed your time there and exploring the area. For us it is the most beautiful part of Cyprus and our guests seem to agree.
Latchi - West of Polis.
There are a number of restaurants / bars/ tavernas along the harbour front in LATCHI where you can enjoy fresh fish and other Cypriot dishes.
From the harbour you can take boat trips along the AKAMAS coastline , even down to Paphos. See the many kiosks on the harbour side for timetables.
Or why not hire a boat for yourself and take a picnic. AND DONT FORGET THE SUN CREAM AND A HAT.!
Baths of Aphrodite
Follow road out of LATCHI towards NEO CHORIO but turn right just before going up to the village. Here you will find several beaches and tavernas ending at the APHRODITE BEACH TAVERNA and the BATHS OF APHRODITE themselves. On the way back why not call in to the exclusive ANASSIS hotel for a drink on the hotel terrace.
Pedestrian town centre and square. Wander around the streets and browse through the various shops or stop off in one of the many restaurants and tavernas in stone built traditional houses. There are too many to name them all but we can recommend ARISNOES, MOUSTAKALIS, FINIKAS, ARCHONTARIKI and THE OLD TOWN Restaurant..
If you fancy a very traditional Cypriot meze try MOSFILOS TAVERNA, just a little way along the road out of Polis towards Paphos, on the corner opposite a petrol station. Very traditional and very good value.
AGIOS ANDRONIKOS is a small 16th century church in the heart of Polis square. Well worth a look inside for its recently restored frescoes.
MARION-ARISNOE MUSEUM is located off the square in Makarios Avenue opposite the bank of Cyprus.
If it's something more lively that you are looking for there is the INSOMNIA cafe bar. Which serves great cockTailsand holds regular music nights.
Pomos - East of Polis
If you want a drive out one day take the coast road east out of Polis on the Argaka Road to POMOS. takes about 20 minutes provided you don't keep stopping along the way to admire the scenery.
KALINI restaurant is a good place to stop for lunch above the lovely little harbour. And the pebble beach beyond the harbour is a great place to relax and swim .
Just 2km further on from Pomos.
AGIOS RAFAEL CHURCH is well worth a visit for its stunning murals and its location.
This is the last Greek Cypriot village before you get to the Turkish border. However in order to get to it you have to drive through some spectacular mountain scenery to go around the isolate Turkish enclave at KOKKINA.
...and on your way back...
On your return journey back along the coast road to Polis in the village of ARGAKA. you will find SANTA BARBARA beach bar and restaurant, the FLY AGAIN pub ( both great places to watch the sunset over the sea and AKAMAS PENINSULA beyond.
We can also recommend the Turtle Tavern for great homemade English food and a warm welcome.
South of Polis
Follow the signs for KATHIKAS ( go right to get out of the development to get onto the road)
2-3km on the left hand side is a goat farm. If you pull over in the lay-by just by the goat farm you may be able to experience the rare phenomena. Stop you car and switch off the engine . Leave the hand break off . There is apparently a magnetic field around this area which will pull your car back even though you are facing down hill.!!
You can either continue direct to KATHIKAS or take the loop road signposted right through the typically Cypriot villages of DROUSHIA, INEIA, and ARODES. Stop for a coffee in one of the coffee shops in DROUSHIA or visit the weaving museum.
A traditional Cypriot village with central church and visitor centre. Visit the STERNA WINERY for some of the best wines produced from this area. Also worth a drive out for lunch or dinner at one of the excellent tavernas, THE FARMYARD, PETRADAKI, IMOGENS or AROUSOS.
Follow the road south from KATHIKAS towards the village of PEYIA and the CORAL BAY coast road. On the way just out of KATHIKAS call in at the VASILIKON winery that has a great reputation for wine , food and location.
After passing Peyia you will reach the coast road . Turn right and follow the signs for Agios Georgios ( you won't miss it as the road only leads there and then on to the AKAMAS. )
MANDOULLI BEACH at Agios Georgios is a great place to stop and have a coffee , sunbathe and swim.
Follow the signs from here onto the AKAMAS, preferably in a 4 wheel drive vehicle!
These are unmade roads which stretch up the west coast of the peninsula . Beautiful scenery , wild and untamed natural beauty.
Look for the stone directing you right to THE LAST CASTLE restaurant. Only open from May to October for lunches but well worth a visit for unbelievable views and setting. Stone tables and seats. Rustic . No menu but unbelievable Souvlaki of pork and chicken with salad bread and jacket potatoes. Best to book in advance for lunch (9948900) or 26991088.
This is just a "taster" of things to do and places to go a full Holiday guide will be provided with each booking.
