Mike & I love to travel in the US and abroad. We have 4 grown children and a dog. We enjoy rides on our Harley & fishing or tubing from our bass boat - though not as often as we'd like. Erika has been to all 50 states and we're both working on visiting new countries. We enjoy staying at all types of properties, from private (like vrbo) to boutique hotels to chain properties. We welcome suggestions on how we can make our home more "guest-friendly"
Erika Dockery purchased this chalet in 2015
Erika's heritage is 100% German and her father built this property and the beautiful stone fireplace in 1997. The woodwork was provided by the Amish in Ohio. Just across the lawn, our sister property "Timberwolf Cabin" was built in 1953 by Erika's family the Wolf's.
If you "like" our social media page (Timberwolf, Waterloo IL) you will see links to area attractions. Small town, country living while near the city provides the best of both worlds.
We could not have been happier with our stay!
This Chalet was beautiful, clean, well-stocked and comfortable. It was a halfway point for get-together to celebrate my sister's birthday. We loved the little town of Waterloo with quaint shops and wonderful restaurants. We hope to be able to stay there again!
This is a beautiful little cabin. It was very clean and well stocked. Sweet little touches like, stuffed animals and coloring books. Yes, we were all grown women but we used them and enjoyed them. Lots of restaurants and stores close by. The small historical buildings across the street were a great surprise. I would definitely stay here again!
Timberwolf Chalet made the perfect location for our family to gather from out of town in preparation for our oldest daughter's wedding. We had a quiet place to prepare for the wedding and relax after the event. One of our daughters, a chef, actually made the wedding cake at Timberwolf!
Owner Rika and property manager Brian were accommodating, flexible, and helpful.
In short, I'd recommend this delightful home for a quiet getaway that's close to St. Louis.
We stayed with 5 kids from Ireland & timberwolf was just like home from home a fabulous comfortable home that had everything we needed if we return to St. Louis we will definitely stay here
We enjoyed the use of this house while we did volunteer work in the area. The location allowed us to mix in personal entertainment by being close to so many regional interests and just a short drive across the river to St Louis. The caretaker, Brian was very responsive to any questions we had. One evening the Internet service malfunctioned. Brian quickly contacted the service providers who had to send in repair persons the next day while we were out. Brian met them so our day was not interrupted at all. All five in our group were thankful. The home was well stocked with everything we needed. If we return to the area we hope this chalet is available.
We enjoyed our stay in Waterloo, IL )June 20 - 24, 2016) Not having been to the area, other than to drive by, we did not know what to expect. We loved the Chalet and also Waterloo. The original plan was to spend most of our time on St. Louis, and we ended up spending only one day there. We toured historical sites around the area and enjoyed Waterloo. The Porta Westfalica Festival was going on while we were in town, and people were very friendly and welcoming. A part of our vacations is to try out local, non-chain restaurants and we were amazed at the good food to be found in Waterloo. Gallager's was fantastic! Our first night we ate at JV's and it was very good. I am not typically a beer drinker, but the bartender recommended a beer and gave me a sample - it was great! Again, everyone was very friendly and we did not feel at all like we were "out of towners."
Brian (manager) was very helpful and responded quickly to any questions or problems. We would definitely come back. The notebook provided by the owners contained local sites, restaurants (including menus), etc. and was very helpful and interesting. It loved reading the history of the Chalet. This would be a great place to come back to with family and friends.
We saw the Cathedrals in St. Louis as well as taking a walking tour of some of the older building. Both of us love history. We went to Ft. de Chartres, Kimmswick, Pierre Menard House, Ft. Kaskaskia and took the Kaskaskia Road to get to St. Genevieve. We plan to come back to finish our tour of St. Genevieve as we ran out of time!
We highly recommend the area and the Chalet. The owners and manager couldn't have been nicer or more helpful. Even our two dogs felt at home.
Annbriar and two other golf courses are minutes from house. We provide a guest binder with brochures for area activities + menus for local restaurants.
