Photos and Description of this 4 bedroom holiday home in High Point

This is a two level home that has plenty of space to enjoy a game of pool, foosball, movies or other inside games. On the outside, you can fish off the dock, swim, sunbathe, dock your boat, or enjoy other water activities. If you wish to wander, it is near Bridgewater Plaza (by car or boat) where you can rent boats, play at the arcade, or enjoy a meal.

We have two large decks and a lovely screened in sunroom, with gorgeous views all around.

First Floor: Kitchen is equipped with dishes, pots/pans and utensils and access to the large, screened porch for easy outside dining with views, or you can also choose to dine in the kitchen or in the Great room. The Great Room has a large Digital flat screen TV for your enjoyment.

Also on the first floor is the Master Bedroom with its own bath and a King sized Sleep Number bed and flat screen TV. The second bedroom on this floor has two twin beds for smaller children. A washer and dryer is on this level for your convenience. Glass doors lead to the deck overlooking the lake where you can enjoy the view with a cup of java in the early morn. The deck has a gas grill for outside cooking.

Basement Floor: Third bedroom, full bathroom, and access to the deck or down to the dock. This floor is equipped with areas to view TV, play pool, or to play foosball. If the lake is your game then go out to the deck and down the stairs to the dock where there is a large stationary dock and one large floating dock. This dock has a hoist for a jet ski.

We are close to Bridgewater Plaza where you can rent boats, jet skis or tubes. Bridgewater Plaza has a number of stores, restaurants, and day or night entertainment. On the way to the Plaza you will pass a grocery store for your cooking needs.

About Jack Ginnett and Debbie Luke

We have always wanted to live on Smith Mountain Lake and take advantage of the water and the beauty . We looked for a long time and when we saw this property, even in an abused condition, we knew that it had the bones to work. At this point it is a very enjoyable home and spot on the lake. It took a lot of work to get it to this stage. We plan to keep improving it, though . We hope that others can also enjoy it as much as we do.

Jack Ginnett and Debbie Luke purchased this house in 2014

Wonderful Fall Getaway!

  • 5 of 5

We had such a great weekend in this beautiful home! It was very quiet and secluded, yet close to restaurants and shops. We enjoyed lunch in the screened porch, drinks on the dock, and several games of pool. Lots of windows and sky lights let us enjoy the outdoors while we sat inside enjoying our morning coffee (love the coffee pot!) or watching college football (flat-screen tvs plus Direct TV!!!).

We took walks near the house (that steep driveway is great exercise!) and also explored SML State Park. We enjoyed eating at several restaurants (breakfast at Old Oak Cafe, lunch/dinner at Jake's Place and Vinny's) checking out Bridgewater Plaza and ice cream at the Homestead Creamery (definitely worth the drive).

The owners were very easy to work with. The fresh flowers were a nice welcoming touch. We definitely recommend this property and hope to stay there again!

Owner's Response: Wonderful Fall Getaway! ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Thank you for you're wonderful comments! We can't take credit for the flowers though, a very nice couple got them and we left them because we thought they looked nice. Glad that you enjoyed them. We are so glad that you weathered the storm and were still able to enjoy your stay. We also like to be able to go out and about and still have the privacy to enjoy quiet moments, especially in the fall. Thank you again and glad you had a good time.

Fall Family Break

  • 5 of 5

This gorgeous home on SML was the perfect location between our childrens' colleges which made it a great meeting place for our rainy family fall break. The rainy weekend inhibited our use of the lake, Kayaks, and large dock that this home offers. Filling our weekend with pool & foos ball tournaments, card games, baking, college football games on the 2 flat screens, movies from their large collection, and listening to the rain on the screened porch made for a relaxing weekend get away for our family of five. This home's location is close to the only bridge making it easy to access either side of the lake. The nearby Food Lion was also very convenient since we prepared and enjoyed our meals at the lake-side home.

Owner's Response: So sorry about the weather, but it sounds like it didn't deter you at all. Thank you for the compliments about our house, we do enjoy it when we're there and we like it for the same reasons as you. If the weather is bad, there are other things to do and that screened porch does come in handy. Did you try the card table? Thank you a for you're very nice compliments. We hope that you return to enjoy those things, like the kayaks, that you weren't able to enjoy this time.

Clean, bright, comfortable, well-appointed, nicely decorated. Great lake view with good access.

  • 4 of 5

The driveway to the property was very close to the neighbor's driveway and trailer. We found parking limited. Once inside the house, we could not have felt more at home. Everything was clean and neat with lots of natural light provided by the many windows and french doors. The two decks provided wonderful places to relax and having breakfast on the screened porch was a treat. The well-chosen furniture and decor added color and style to the spacious rooms and we found everything we needed both in the kitchen and elsewhere to make our stay comfortable. All the white appliances were new and in perfect working order. We especially liked the coffee maker and plan to buy one like it! I would highly recommend this property to anyone wishing to have a relaxing vacation at Smith Mountain Lake. A special "thank you" to the owners for listing this property.

Owner's Response: Hi, glad that you enjoyed your stay and enjoyed you coffee in the morning overlooking the cove. We also find it relaxing, open, and spacious when we can find the time to stay there. The driveway is close to the neighbors, but we couldn't ask for better people, on both sides. Because we are used to it, we get 4 vehicles down by the house and another up next to the boat trailer, which is pretty good for a 3 bedroom house. You would have no way of knowing this, but we also own a lot of the gravel area in front of the boat trailer which also serves as parking and of course there is the length of the driveway. The steepness of the driveway can be intimidating so I understand your concern. The fun though is lake and the house and we are so glad that you were able to relax and enjoy.

What a wonderful getaway!

  • 5 of 5

We really enjoyed out stay. We had the perfect weather and the perfect house to enjoy our vacation. The kitchen was well stocked with every gadget we needed. The master bedroom was incredible. We really spent almost all our time on the dock. Plenty of room to spread out. We enjoyed Kayaking around the coves and floating on our rafts. We really look forward to coming back again soon! Thanks Jack & Debbie!

Best rental house ever!

  • 5 of 5

This is a beautiful house and location! We had a wonderful week. The house is at the end of a cove, very close by boat to a marina and restaurant, with a beautiful view off of the deck. The kids jumped off of the dock and swam every day and in the evenings they played pool. The house is very spacious, comfortable, and extremely well stocked with everything you might need. The kayaks were an added bonus! Jack, the owner, was great to work with and very helpful.

Owner's Response: Hello, Thank you so much for your support and kind words. We have been improving the lake house every year since we bought it, the kayaks were another addition that people seem to enjoy (we do to). Besides the usual dishware and utensils, we do try to anticipate those things that quests may have overlooked during the packing process. Its so hard to bring everything, such as life vests. We are also blessed with two wineries near by for those getaways away from the lake. Thank you again and we are glad that you all had a great time! Jack and Deb

Another Great Week at SML

  • 4 of 5

This is our second year renting from Jack and Debbie. They are easy to work with and the house is all that is promised. Upon arrival, everything is ready to go and clean. The kitchen has all the basic supplies. A nice touch and one you don't always see in rentals, is DirectTV. There will almost always be some time when you want to just sit and watch a little TV. There are a great variety of channel choices and the reception was great. The kayaks were a nice extra. The kids had a good time paddling around the cove when we weren't out wakeboarding or tubing. The dock area is great for getting some sun, enjoying a quick snack, lazing around on floats or just sitting quietly and enjoying nature.

The house is convenient to all the areas of SML that we enjoy visiting when we are up there. Wallers is just almost within swimming distance. Crystal Shores Marina is right there; no need to drive around looking for gas. The shops and restaurants of Bridgewater are just a few minutes away by boat. Even The Landings restaurant in Bernards Landing was a reasonable boat ride away.

The only annoying thing about our stay were the yellowjackets. They were everywhere. There were so many there had to be a hive or nest or whatever it's called nearby but we never could find it. Even a glass of water would have three or four around it after a couple of seconds. Inevitably, some made it inside. No real harm was done but they were definitely annoying.

This place will be high on our list of possible places to stay next year.

We give it 12 Thumbs Up.

Owner's Response: First of all, let me tell you how sorry we are that you had to deal with yellowjackets on your vacation. I take them seriously, I don't like yellow jackets and I don't think people should have to deal with them on their vacation. I am concerned so I emailed the folks who are in the house now and they said, "Yes, there have been a few, but not so many where we've had great concern." I also emailed last weeks guests and they said, "No, we did not experience any yellow jackets. Anyway, I'm sorry but I can't help you there." So, mixed results. I know that every week I either mow or weed wack around the property and according to google, they should have appeared (the noise and movement attracts them), they didn't. I haven't seen them there, but that doesn't mean they aren't. They can come from several hundred feet and like sweets and trash areas. This is not a comment on you folks because I know you left the house in a good, clean condition, thank you. Its just that if something like watermelons or such was left out for even just a little bit, it may have attracted them? I wish that you had let me know while you were there so that I could have looked for the nest or had professionals take care of them. In any case I will continue to communicate with the people in the house and see what they experience. Again, sorry for the bother on your vacation. I hate that this happened to you and I am going to take care of it.
