Property type cabin

About the property

private, secluded cabins located near some of Alaskas most beautiful places!

We are a small family owned Cabin and Vacation Rental property in the heart of the Matanuska Valley Moose Range, just outside the town of Palmer Alaska. Our central location in the Matanuska Valley is the perfect location to use as a jumping off point for all your adventures in South Central Alaska. Located just a few miles outside of Palmer, you will find our 35 acre property nestled in the woods at the base of the Arkose ridge in the Talkeetna Range.

Our Cabins, recently featured on HGTV's Living Alaska, are decorated with various Alaska themes, each with its own cozy charm. All cabins have a full kitchen with everything you'll need for meals, full bath (indoor even!) TV, DVD, Phone, extra linens, pillows, blankets and access to onsite laundry facilities and much more. With miles of trails to enjoy and Moose Creek nearby there is plenty to explore right from your porch. A short hike from your cabin steps will bring you to the Arkose Ridge which nears 5000ft in elevation. Moose and their calves frequent the yards of each cabin so keep your cameras ready. You may also have the opportunity to see other neighborhood residents such as Bald Eagles, Fox, Ptarmigan, Grouse, Magpies, Hummingbirds to name just a few.

Our goal will be to provide each of our newest friends with the best and most personalized service Alaska can provide. We provide our guests the option of ordering your favorite drinks, food, snacks, ahead of your arrival and we will have those specific items pre-stocked in your cabin the day of arrival. We don’t want you to spend your valuable time in Alaska shopping or searching for your favorite goodies, so let us do the shopping for you. This service has A small additional fee and the cost of the groceries.

Please do keep us in mind when dreaming about your perfect Alaska Vacation and we look forward to making new friends and your stay at Moose Wallow Cabins as pleasant and comfortable as possible. Very nice and quiet. Secluded just right.

The cabin was very nice. I would highly recommend renting from Lisa and Dave with Wallow Cabins. The cabin was nicely kept when we arrived. Lisa spoke to my wife several times (my wife initiated). Good communication throughout the entire process from the time we rented until we left. Saw several moose tracks and also heard the moose but did not see any around the cabin. Lisa and Dave get 2 thumbs up and 5 stars. I am glad I choose this over a hotel.

Wonderful getaway close to Anchorage and right in nature!

  • 5 of 5

The cabin was cozy, the location was convenient yet secluded, snowshoeing in the state park was fabulous, and a grill and a hot shower were lovely perks. We would come back in a heartbeat.

Great option for a nearby ski vacation getaway

  • 4 of 5

The cabin was immaculate, well stocked and quite lovely. Our family of four (and two dogs) really enjoyed the quiet time away after Christmas to ski and share time together. The location was easy to find and just minutes from grocery and other options throughout our stay.

Great cabin with privacy nestled in the woods!

  • 3 of 5

Cabin was very clean and secluded back in the woods. Host was very kind and helpful. Would recommend for those looking for an Alaskan style stay. Very large loft upstairs was a fun area for my daughter to play in.

Quaint Mountainside Cabin

  • 4 of 5

My husband and I enjoyed our two nights at this cozy cabin. The owner was very helpful and gave us suggestions for places to see wildlife near the cabin, including a hike through the back of the property to a mountain meadow. The deck had a small table so we grilled and ate dinner outside on our first night with a beautiful view. Since it was just the two of us, we didn't need the loft space, but it would be great for kids (wouldn't want to navigate the ladder in the dark though!).

Wanted to stay longer!

  • 5 of 5

We only had one night in this gem, but wished we could have stayed longer. We had a much longer ride from Fairbanks than anticipated (two construction stops totaling 1 hour and a side stop in Talkeetna for a re-scheduled flightseeing ride kept us from arriving until almost 11pm.

The cabin was absolutely beautiful. My wife, 10 year old daughter and myself all commented on the interior decorations for the property. You have good and fun taste. The cabin truly "felt Alaskan", if that makes sense. We really enjoyed it. My daughter loved the little shelf above the bed in the loft - that that was "cool". :-)

We only wish we had more time. If/when we get back to Alaska, this would definitely be a property we'd want to return to.

Owner's Response: Man that ride from Fairbanks can be rough in the summer with construction but I am so happy you enjoyed your time with us. Please do come back, the loft is usually a pretty big hit with the kids, both young and old! Haha
