About Vacasa, VT - Lake Champlain Islands Office

Thanks for considering a Vacasa home! We provide full-service management for privately owned vacation homes, and like to think that we offer our guests the best of both worlds: the unique experience of staying in a one-of-a-kind vacation home, with the peace of mind that comes from knowing that the home you book for your special vacation is cared for by professional housekeepers and property managers.

Vacasa began in 2009, simply because our founder and CEO Eric wanted to find a better way to share his wife’s family’s summer home in Long Beach, Washington with guests as a vacation rental. Eric and his early team worked to build Vacasa on the premise that local employees can do what they love most (taking care of guests, homeowners, and properties), while the hands-off tasks of vacation rental management—things like marketing, filing taxes, and maintaining a website—could be handled by a specialized central support team.

Our passion is connecting travelers with the unique experience of staying in a vacation home, and we would be honored to be your host. Please contact us with any questions about this home—our team is standing by!

Nice location, house not great

  • 2 of 5

The house is in a great location with a beautiful view from the patio. We were able to do some swimming from the dock area as well which was nice. We had some friends boat to the house and anchor a ways out as they couldn't anchor at the dock itself for various reasons but that was nice. But, there are definitely some things to keep in mind about the house, especially given the cost. The downstairs is very musty since the damp basement is open to the first floor. The first floor bedroom really smells like mold. The house is very outdated, in some ways quite charming in the common areas, but the beds and linens were incredibly uncomfortable. The bathrooms don't lock for privacy and they both smelled bad. The second floor shower doesn't work except for kids as the ceiling is so low. The management company who takes care of the property was definitely lacking. Even before our trip, we called with a question about the property and they never even called us back. The kitchen pans were disgustingly dirty as were a lot of the kitchen knives. Various light bulbs were out. At least one of the patio chairs was about to collapse. There were no bath mats for the shower. While I knew there wouldn't be a fully stocked kitchen, we were surprised that there wasn't even any cooking oil or butter to make the most basic of food. It just wasn't very welcoming in that regard. They also requested that we run the dishwasher before we left but they only left us 4 washer tablets in the "gift" bag which didn't even last us the full weekend. Given that both of our families rent our own propertieswe were shocked at the shortcomings of this property. We would never have left our homes like this for guests. We have also rented a lot of places and never had a negative experience like this. But, the location made up for a lot of this and we made the best of it and had a nice time overall.

Country Lake House on Lake Champlain-Beautiful!

  • 5 of 5

We had a great family reunion here for 4 days and really enjoyed our stay. The home is cozy and quaint, yet large enough for 12 people to stay. The grassy property is great for lawn games or gazing out at the lake. The area is very quiet and you do need to be aware of the neighbors (don't park across from their yard-they are very protective of that, and don't be noisy after 9pm). We had a great time in this beautiful location with 3 generations of family!

Great family vacation

  • 5 of 5

Great for a family vacation. The kids had so much fun in the lake. Wouldn't recommend for persons with allergies or breathing issues.

Great Multiple Family Vacation

  • 5 of 5

We went on a family vacation with our daughter and three other families. This house was great! The bedrooms upstairs were all big enough for parents and kids to share, the first floor bedroom was a little tight for that but we managed. The kitchen was big enough to handle meals for our large group and there were two big tables. The living area is a lot bigger than it looks and was fine for all the grown ups and kids. The deck was GREAT! And the stairs down to the dock were not nearly as steep as they look in the pics - definitely OK for kids to navigate. We had a BLAST and the sunsets were AMAZING!!!!

Great outside not inside

  • 1 of 5

Outside of this place is great, nice porch/steps out back door, the deck is nice and the dock/deck as well, this area is a little dangerous for small children, keep an eye on them. My kids and grand kids had a great time outside using these areas & the side lawn. Inside of the house is run down, the pictures are a little deceiving, 2nd floor and basement access are a small spiral stair case not fun, the basement where the washer is, a wreck and not clean, the kitchen is useable but items in the cabinets an unorganized mess, the fridge kept freezing food, no AC, 1st floor bed-hot, bathrooms need reno, nice TV system.?

Lights Out!

  • 3 of 5

Property was beautiful (inside and out) and well maintained.

The listing bills itself as a secluded getaway on a remote corner of the island, however, it fails to mention that it is closely sandwiched by two residential properties and that the neighbors strictly enforce a no noise after 9pm/lights out by 10pm policy - either by calling the police or complaining to the property manager.

If the property owners/managers only want to rent to people on family vacations with children - they should say so. I'm sure both the angry neighbors and the people who like to sit on the back patio enjoying the fire and a few beers after 9pm would greatly appreciate the upfront honesty about what they're signing up for.
