Overview

About the property

1 Bedroom, 1 Bathroom Downstairs, 6 Sleeps Upstairs

Stay in a charming, authentic RR Dispatcher's Home from circa 1882. 2+ bedroom/1 bath (with tub). Sleeps 6 upstairs. One king, One double and one full futon. Note: Bathroom is downstairs. Outside seating with grill. Wonderful downtown location within walking distance of restaurants, shops, museum, grocery, laundromat, and town activities. Rentals for bikes, ATV's, jeeps, snowmobiles, etc. Some of the best river activities (rafting, kayaking, etc) in the country. Close to Monarch Mountain, Ski Cooper, Copper Mountain (and not that far from Breckenridge). Close to many ghost towns. Laundromat in back yard. Sleep well, eat great, and have such a good time all year 'round! Note that while this is a "downtown" location, it is unique in that it is relatively quiet--the two neighbors are out-of-state retired people--and the abandoned railroad tracks are directly across the street (which means it is wide open). Here in Buena Vista we boast 300 days of sunshine per year. Come join us!

About Owner/Manager

The owners have lived in Buena Vista for 24 years, raising 5 children and operating several businesses (including plumbing & heating, a laundromat, and several property rentals). They moved here from the San Francisco Bay area, where Doug is from. Sharon is from the Cincinnati area originally. Currently two of their grown children also reside in Buena Vista, one in Colorado Springs and one in North Carolina. The Pikuls have 5 grandchildren.

Owner/Manager purchased this cottage in 1995

Why Owner/Manager chose South Central Colorado

The Pikuls originally purchased this home (it then was a fireplace store) for their plumbing office. After their daughter married, she and her husband lived in the home for 5 years. They decided to have a vacation rental in 2015.

What makes this cottage unique

We love this little Victorian home and have considered it for our own home, but we have just too many active pets and currently operate our business out of our home. The quaint front porch swing is a favorite, and sitting out on the patio in the evenings grilling steaks is a great soothing activity. If you like walking, this house is in a perfect location--close to everything! When we made this a vacation home, we had to add an egress window upstairs. When we cut the hole, we found interesting antique artifacts which we hope to display soon in a shadow box in the house.

Block away from main strip was great traveling with a toddler. The house had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. Really enjoyed the front porch swing!

Lovely historic home: cute, clean, comfy.

  • 5 of 5

The house was clean, all amenities were easy to find. Stocked pantry items were very useful. The evaporative cooler kept the upstairs comfy throughout the day. Great place for our honeymoon!

great location, cozy and fully equipped.

  • 5 of 5

We stayed for the entire month of August. The house is in a prime location to walk anywhere in town. The house has all of the comforts of home with a fully equipped kitchen, dining room, living room and 2+ sleeping areas. The wifi worked great which is important to those who work remotely. The owner Sharon is delightful and easy to work with.

Great stay in Buena Vista on Tabor!

  • 5 of 5

My sisters and I felt really comfortable here. The house was super cute, clean, and stocked well. Great location near all things cool in downtown, as well as local trails to the east. Sharon is very friendly and responsive. We would go there again in a heartbeat!

Loved our stay

  • 5 of 5

Our hostess greeted us at chech in, had yummy cookies waiting for us, and left us with a fully appointed home. Even the local guide book was amazing!

We were right at downtown, which was so convenient.
