Cabin Creek Hide-Away (Letchworth) 100 Acre Forest Property!

Bedrooms 1
Space 448 sq ft
Property type cabin
Minimum Stay 2 nights

About the property

Hidden Cabin on 100 Acre Forest Property 15 minutes from Letchworth Park

This 100 Acre Forest Property is just 15 minutes from Letchworth State Park, and features a very secluded, rustic cabin hidden deep in the woods. You can disappear here! No one will find you until you're ready to come out!

The space is 100 Acres of private forest! Guests can bring a tent, RV, or... stay in the cabin!

The off grid cabin is lit by old fashioned oil lamps for a soft, romantic glow, but also has convenient 12V solar powered lights. The LP gas fireplace is perfect for relaxing in the evening, getting cozy on the couch, or enjoying the view from the comfortable double bed! The beauty of the forest streams in with the sunlight through the large bank of windows! Morning coffee & evening toddies are accompanied by the sound of birds singing in the woods, and everything tastes even better on the large covered deck, which is also perfect for grilling as the sun goes down! Even during a passing summer shower, the soft patter of raindrops on the tin roof is so peaceful! We love coming here to be alone, and we know you will too!

LP gas powers the hot water, a cook stove, and 1/2 size refrigerator. The bathroom is complete with a natural composting toilet and hot shower. Bath, body wash & shampoo, percolating coffee pot, fully equipped kitchen, and a small library of outdoor & self-sufficiency books are provided. We have an outdoor fire ring w/firewood available for purchase for your outdoor camp fires. You can also get your own firewood from dead & down tops nearby.

Note: December 1 - April 10 is our Winter Wilderness Drop Camp Season. Depending on snow conditions, we cannot guarantee that you will be able to drive your vehicle closer than 1/2 mile to the cabin site due to snow depths & terrain. If the snow is too deep, we can take your luggage & supplies in and out for you with our machines, so you don't have to pack everything in!. The breathtaking scenery of the winter snow on the high elevation hemlocks surrounding the cabin make the inconvenience of reaching this remote location well worth it! Come and discover just how much fun it is being snowed in with the one you love! There's no place like it in the entire Northeast!

Note: During our Winter Wilderness Drop Camp Season (December 1 - April 10), the cabin is dry, meaning that there is no running water in the cabin. Water is hauled in for you, with dispensers placed in the kitchen & bathroom. A 12-volt powered camp shower is provided in the bathroom, and water is heated on the stove. Our composting toilet is unaffected by winter weather.

Guests need to bring their own bedding.

(Note: 12V system will not power appliances such as hair dryers, TV's, or electric coffee makers).

Guests can drive in/drive out to enjoy the hidden cabin, large covered deck, outside camp fires with wood provided, cascading creek & waterfalls, hiking trails, and abundant wildlife. Adventurers will enjoy going down the 100' climbing rope to view the hidden water falls... the only way to find them! The Hide-Away itself is situated on 20 acres of high elevation plateau along the North rim of the Cabin Creek ravine. Relax & enjoy it all to yourself!

Upon arrival, guests will be greeted for an orientation to the cabin, the property, and attractions in the surrounding area, which include Letchworth State Park (The Grand Canyon of the East). Housekeeping service comes once a day at a mutually convenient time. Just a half mile away, we are always available to respond to the needs of guests. Only one guest party is allowed at the property at any time, so it's yours to enjoy exclusively!

The very best thing about the neighborhood is that there are no neighbors! The cabin is situated off a seasonal use road, at high elevation on top of a ridge. Aside from the occasional vehicle traveling the road, you won't have contact with anyone who is not in your party! We deliver a wonderful experience in a rugged area that is sparsely populated and seldom traveled. We have two ways to access the property, but you will travel on a gravel road either way.

We like to joke that the Cabin Creek night-life is dominated by the wildlife... but that's no joke! In addition to the ever-present squirrels, chip monks & racoon, it is very common to see deer and wild turkey in our forest. The yipping-howls of coyotes are commonly heard after dark while guests sit around the campfire, and seldom-seen bobcats can be heard calling in the night several times a year. Very rare pine martin have been spotted on the property, along with bald eagles & great horned owls. Bears do frequent our area, coming from the 7,700 acre wildlife management area across the valley. Believe us or not, during the 2015 deer season, an Eastern Timber Wolf was observed as it passed by 2 different tree stands, judging by its extreme size and near-black color (later one January night, long, low howls were heard along the base of the ridge. Definitely not coyotes!). So if you're looking for an experience in a wild area... this is as wild as it gets in the entire Northeast!

100 foot climbing rope descending to hidden water falls (On your own).

.22 caliber handgun & rifle instruction & target shooting by appointment.

Canoe rentals & river float trips by appointment.

Guided hikes/mountain biking to beaver ponds & hanging bog by appointment.

Hot Air Ballooning over Letchworth Park (Outside Vendor)

White Water Rafting in Letchworth Park (Outside Vendor)

Fishing at Nearby Wildlife Management Area (On your own).

Location! Location! The cabin is within an easy twenty minute drive to so many attractions: Letchworth State Park (Grand Canyon of the East), Stony Brook State Park, Swain Mountain Ski Resort, The Mount Morris Dam, and 7,000 acres of State Wildlife Management Area. Wine country tours start within an easy 40 minute drive, and Niagara Falls is a little over an hour and a half away!

Cabin Creek is in a rural area. Guests will need their own vehicle to get from the cabin to state route 70, from which all area attractions are easily accessed.

About Terry Peck

My husband and I are professionals who both love the great outdoors! We have come to love everything that Cabin Creek has to offer with its beautiful forest, cascading stream, 3 waterfalls, abundant wildlife, and rugged terrain. Whether we're hiking, riding our horses, or 4 wheeling on the trails, we absolutely love it here! As much as we enjoy the beauty of God's creation that He blessed us with, we didn't feel right about keeping it all to ourselves. So, we invite you to come and enjoy it with us!

Terry Peck purchased this cabin in 2011

Why Terry Peck chose Dalton

It's so close to home, and there really is no place quite like it! Our "Hide-Away" is so secluded amongst the hemlock trees, and it's nice being there all alone together. The deep woods are so peaceful, the sound of the stream cascading over the rocks is relaxing, and the waterfalls are simply beautiful! Then, as we go hiking, there's always the excitement of seeing deer, wild turkey, bald eagles, owls, pine martin, raccoons, and those ever-present squirrels! At night, we can hear the calls of coyotes, and even a bobcat once in a while!

What makes this cabin unique

Cabin Creek Hide-Away provides you with PEACE, PRIVACY and FREEDOM... 3 things that have to be enjoyed together, and are seldom found anywhere but the deep forest! Out here, our night-life is dominated by the wildlife!

Can hardly wait to go back someday!

  • 5 of 5

Our stay at Cabin Creek was absolutely amazing! From the greeting from their adorable new pup, to the hospitality of Mr. Peck himself, we loved our trip! My husband couldn't hide his excitement the minute we hit dirt roads on our way up to the cabin. lol! The cabin was incredibly clean, well maintained and comfortable. Mr. Peck was so much fun to visit with, and he did an amazing job of introducing us to how everything works in the cabin and where we could find everything. We loved every bit of our stay, even including the composting toilets! lol! We even laughed at how much we missed how well they disguised the horrible bathroom smell once we got home to our modern plumbing. The peace and quiet at the cabin was amazing, as was the privacy. We spent an entire day visiting the Letchworth State Park during our visit, and were blown away by the gorgeous views! We rated this trip our favorite overall trip since getting married (out ranking even our honeymoon in our opinion!). It was truly an amazing way to celebrate our Anniversary. We truly appreciate the Pecks and their hospitality and care. It made our trip absolutely memorable. God Bless!

Perfect little hide away

  • 5 of 5

This was our second visit back to the cabin, and it was just as perfect as our first trip. Dave & Terry are SO friendly and accommodating, it's always a joy chatting with them wheather it be about getting around to the local spots or the animals we hear/see during our visit. Such awesome people. Letchworth state park is just a 10 minute drive and is breath taking! If you're looking for a quiet, peaceful cabin to bring you back to your senses & ground you- this is the one. We cannot wait to come back for our third visit!

Owner's Response: It was fun to see Nick & Brittany on their second trip to Cabin Creek, and always a pleasure to visit with them! The last time they came, it was winter, so now that they've been here for spring, they've got just 2 more seasons to experience here. The cabin, hidden deep in our 100 Acre Private Forest, really offers a different experience with each beautiful season! Our wildlife are always in a different stage of activity too, and this time, Brittany got to hear an Eastern Timber Wolf howl... just once, but you never forget it! Whenever you are ready to come back, we'll have the cabin all ready for you guys! David & Terry

Owner's Response: We're glad Becca enjoyed our Hide-Away cabin so much! Our family & friends worked hard to build it at this remote site, with the idea of using the large windows and knotty pine to bring the beauty of the forest right inside with you. Whenever you want to return Becca, we'll make sure the cabin is clean, warm, & ready for you! Dave & Terry

Fantastic hideaway

  • 5 of 5

I had a lovely stay at the cabin! It was great to be tucked away in the woods, entirely off the grid, but completely comfortable. I especially enjoyed the big windows and being able to look out them from bed. And I found two big bear footprints in the snow just up the road from the cabin. Great spot, great hosts!

Owner's Response: We're so glad Rebecca enjoyed her stay with us here at Cabin Creek! When we built our Hide-Away Cabin, our intent for the huge windows was to bring the beauty of the forest right inside the cabin. Sounds like Rebecca appreciated the effect! One of the other things that makes our forest-home so special is that it is right in the middle of where so much wildlife also makes their home. Very common for our guests to see/hear Deer, Wild Turkey, Raccoons, Fisher, Pine Martin, Coyotes, Bobcats, Bald Eagles, and yes... Black Bears! We work hard to remove all garbage immediately though, so the bears have never become a nuisance. We actually maintain a remote area during the Summer where our guests can go to observe Black Bears and take pictures if they would like. Come again any time Rebecca! We would enjoy seeing you again!
