Barbados: One of the most enchanting Caribbean islands, the most eastern island in the Caribbean, Barbados has been called 'England in the tropics' because of its intriguing mix of British and African culture. Cricket and polo are the main sports and afternoon tea is still a pleasant ritual kept here, something one might expect in a country that has been under British rule from its settlement in 1627 until its independence in 1966.
Barbados is one of the best places in the world for windsurfing. The surfing is good here especially on the South and East coast, which is buffeted by the Atlantic waters.
Barbados rum is world famous, and visitors can learn more about how it is made at the Mount Gay Rum Visitors Centre. Or even closer to the villa is the smaller lesser known distillery of Four Squares rum which has a lovely visitor centre and tasting options.
Another popular attraction is Harrison's Cave, a limestone cavern with a waterfall stalactites, and stalagmites. Barbados is a perfect place to relax and enjoy the friendliness of its people and beauty of its beaches and natural wonders.
Bottom Bay beach is the perfect setting for a Caribbean wedding.
Please note that we do not allow large social gatherings (inc weddings, parties, family reunions, etc) at the villa unless previously arranged and agreed directly with the owners.
Prices may be higher for the Christmas/New Year period - please enquire for price confirmation.

Carol purchased this villa in 2006
Our stay at HideAway was amazing. It truly felt like a home away from home. Was clean and very comfortable. The pool was great to have and the house had all the amenities to make for a relaxing and enjoyable stay. Carol has provided a booklet full of information on Barbados and places to see which we found to be very helpful. Jon and Jan looked after us and were great! We can't wait to go back next year:)

Thank you Carol, my family and I had a wonderful time at your villa. Location was perfect for us, far from the busy tourist areas but still easy with rental car to get to grocery store and beautiful Crane Resort! We enjoyed having Bottom Bay to ourselves and met many friendly locals on our walks. The only complaint would be from my kids not being able to get a strong enough signal to get internet- fine with me though! Could you please thank your house cleaner for me, on the day of our arrival my son was very excited about the coconut tree in your yard and she showed him how to get one and cut it to drink the water from it. She was gone when we got back from the beach and she had left some coconuts for him... I never got a chance to thank her! If we ever get the chance to visit Barbados again we will definately rent your villa.
Our family of 5 enjoyed a very relaxing week at Bottom bay. The property is on a good site, with wonderful bays and just as important benefits from the cooling breezes straight from the ocean. Just fill up your glass and relax on the sand.
Jon and Jan made us extremely welcome and are a font of information, always available on the phone if needed, but not intrusive. The whole booking process was very easy.
This part of the island is great if you prefer to be away from the hustle and bustle of the west part. There is a big supermarket at 6 roads, 10 minutes driving. We enjoyed Caribbean Taste at Bathsheba and homecooking. The upside of all this is that there are no queues, no traffic and often we were the only people on the beach. Bottom Bay and Harrismith Bay are as good as it sounds, and just walk around the headland and you are in a superb, exclusive beach. Don't forget that the waves are very strong and there are many under-currents. Other great beaches are on the west coast if you prefer to enjoy quiet water but busy beaches - up to you! We drove round most of the island but found the best beaches on the doorstep.
Plenty to do on the island. St Nikolas Abbey, many gullies, and flower forests, old buildings and museum...
Any downsides? Not really. Come prepared for mosquitoes (maybe the time of year), driving on the left side of the road, and speaking english (pas toujours facile pour les français !!!). But beyond that you will have a great time.
Lovely island, friendly people and superb hosts.
All in all, a great place to spend a holiday.
Emerald City SHOPPING village at Six Roads is less than 10 minutes away with supermarkets, banks, petrol station, Dr, post office and restaurant with children's play area. The large, well-stocked (with local and international brands) supermarket is open every day from 8am to 10pm except on Sundays when it closes at 3pm. This is one of the best supermarkets on the island.
Polo, horse riding, biking, Segway, Zip Wire and hiking are all available at various locations on the island.
hideAway is located on the beautiful south-east coast of Barbados in the parish of St Philip. There are a number of breathtaking bays and beaches nearby including Foul Bay, The Crane*, Palmetto (Merricks), Harrismith and Sam Lords - to name just a few. There is also excellent surfing within 25 mins drive at Silver Point (South coast) and the world famous Soup Bowl at Bathsheba (East coast).
*Named “One of the Top 10 Beaches in the World” by the Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous and the BBC’s Holiday program says that Crane Beach is one of the “Top 100 places to see before you die.”
