About Pam Smith
Pam is a retired commercial real estate broker and husband, Lance, is a retired Herff Jones executive. Having met at the University of Florida (Go Gators!), they always wanted to move back to the Gainesville area. They bought the property from good friends and next door neighbors in 2007 and built the Main Lodge as a full time dream residence in 2011. They have enjoyed entertaining friends and family and decided to open the Lazy Turtle Lodge to guests who appreciate the simplicity and beauty of Mother Nature.
Pam Smith purchased this Recreational Vehicle in 2007
Why Pam Smith chose Fort White
Pam and Lance had been coming to the Santa Fe to visit friends, now neighbors, since 1997 and fell in love with the natural beauty and serenity of the area. When the property became available, they decided to make it their future home. The property already had three trailers and an RV (now named Turtle Heaven, Turtle Club, Turtle Nest and Turtle Palace) which Pam and Lance began turning into sleep accommodations for their 6 kids. In 2011 they build the Lodge and moved it full time.
What makes this Recreational Vehicle unique
The beauty and serenity of the area provide a unique setting for both relaxation and river fun. In all seasons the river flows amidst cypress and oak hammocks and can be enjoyed in so many ways. Whether floating, tubing, kayaking, canoeing, cave diving, paddle boarding, fishing or simply sitting on the dock and watching the is slow and easy at the Lazy Turtle Lodge.

Peaceful spot on the river..
Pam and Lance are great host we really enjoyed ourselves at there beautiful place on the river..Thanks again for having us can't wait to return..
This is a beautiful, quiet 10-acre property directly on the Santa Fe River near many natural springs. Bring your own kayak and launch directly from the front yard or use a nearby rental/shuttle service. I stayed in the 30-ft RV, which is perfect for a "glamping" experience. Pam and Lance have thought of everything you need to be comfortable and cozy, plenty of nice touches including a wonderful outdoor shower.
A wonderful place to get away from it all and enjoy some beautiful flora and fauna, plus peace and quiet. This is old Florida as I experienced it decades ago. Keep in mind cell phone service (for ATT) is a bit spotty in this area if you need to be accessible. Definitely plan to visit again!
We loved having you as our guest. You are definitely 5 star. We look forward to a return trip!
We enjoyed our stay in Turtle Palace very much. The camper was clean and stocked with everything we needed . The property is peaceful, quiet and beautiful, we even saw some deer. Thank you Pam and Lance for letting us stay here.
Lazy Turtle Palace, and the entire property, was perfect!
First of all, Pam and Lance are wonderful hosts. They made sure that we had everything we needed (and more) for our stay. Secondly, the RV was absolutely perfect for the two of us. Pam and Lance have anticipated every possible need their guests might have, and the RV has everything to meet those needs. We loved the outdoor showers (and the shower wraps/sarongs), and spent a lot of our time on the lovely deck area rocking and watching the hummingbirds, deer, and even an armadillo (late one evening). Rum 138 was a fantastic outfitter that we used twice for our canoe/kayak needs. They even dropped off/picked up our kayak at the property which was wonderful. The closest grocery store is about 16 minutes away (a Winn Dixie), but we went an extra 5 minutes to Alachua to the Publix. We grilled one night, and ate in High Springs for dinner two other evenings (Great Outdoors is a great restaurant). Drinking coffee on the dock in the mornings was absolutely lovely, and we also loved sitting on it after dark and watching SO many stars emerge (and listening to frog sounds we have never heard before). We absolutely recommend staying at Turtle Palace for anyone, and we will definitely be back.
Beautiful place, quiet, quaint,
Loved it, will go back again for longer stay
Thanks guys. See you back soon!
I was in need of a totally relaxing experience. This filled every aspect of my need.
The accommodations were private and perfect for me. Very bad cell service but that was not what I went there for. Enjoyed it tremendously. Planning on returning great place to kick back and relax.
