Overview

About the property

The chalet is situated above Grindelwald with stunning views over the valley and the surrounding mountains, all being part of the UNESCO World heritage site: Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau mountains. The chalet, achieved end of 2014, has been furnished and decorated with care to enable you with your friends or family to spend an unforgettable vacation in a luxurious but cosy place. The ski slopes are 800 m from the house and can be reached on skis by most skiers.

The chalet was realized with noble materials, wood and natural stone, in order to emphasize the authenticity and this warm atmosphere so particular to the alpine houses. The furniture and decoration were chosen with the concern of creating a balance between the contemporary design favoring the comfort as well as the aesthetic and the traditional objects in order to honor the cultural heritage specific to the region.

The main house is spread over 3 floors and includes an entrance hall with plenty of storage space, a living room with fireplace, a fully equipped kitchen and a back kitchen, a TV room and a guest toilet.

On the first floor are three bedrooms accessing the large balcony with their bathrooms. In the attic, accessed by a retractable staircase, there is a room for children with a superb view on the village.

The chalet is connected by an outside corridor to a former sheep-fold which was totally renovated at the end of 2016. Here is the sauna, with its breathtaking view of the valley, a bathroom as well as an additional sleeping room with a wood stove.

The whole can accommodate 8 people and 2 children.

The internet is available throughout the house. The heating is done by heat pump.

Whether for a romantic couple, a family holiday or a business trip - an alpine ambience, stylish interior design and contemporary luxury is combined to create an ideal place for any type of holiday.

The site is one of the most extraordinary natural wonders of the Alps. In the center is the powerful mass formed by the Eiger, the Mönch and the Jungfrau, as well as the glacial landscape surrounding the Great Glacier of Aletsch.

In winter, the Jungfrau ski area with more than 200 km of slopes on 3 connected areas allows you to enjoy one of the most beautiful scenery in the Alps in Europe. The area offers many well-kept walking and sledding paths as well as the longest sledge run in Europe: 15 km between Mount Faulhorn and Grindelwald! You will find sledges at your disposal in the chalet ...

There are also many opportunities for cross-country skiers and ice skaters.

In summer, many excursions will let you discover the region whether you are by foot, by bike or even paragliding. You can admire the snow-capped peaks, lakes and rock faces surrounding Grindelwald.

Those who are less sporty can also discover the region by coach, or by taking a train from Grindelwald to Wengen via the mountains or on a boat crisscrossing the large lakes of the surroundings.

You will not hesitate to close your stay in Grindelwald by a trip to the "Top of Europe" which you will reach by train to discover the glacier of Aletsch, which with its 22 km is the longest of the Alps and bring you closer to these three Mythical summits: Mönch, Eiger and the Jungfrau which culminates at 4158m.

About Francoise

I will welcome you on the day of your arrival and will help you to plan your stay in Grindelwald if you wish to.

I can speak english, french and german.

Francoise purchased this chalet in 2014

Why Francoise chose Grindelwald

I fell in love with the plot because of the spectacular view you can enjoy from there. I designed and constructed the house together with an architect from Grindelwald and the firms all situated in the neighborhood.

I hope you will like it as much as I do ...

What a fantastic house in a stunning location!

  • 5 of 5

A beautiful home above Grindelwald with spectacular views on all sides of the property. Cows being driven to pasture each evening adds an extra charm!

Wonderful host - everything you could want is in the house - I highly recommend it to anyone wanting to stay in this beautiful town.

We had a fantastic stay!

  • 5 of 5

We are an extended family of 11, three generations including young kids aged 5 to 11. We stayed in this chalet for one week, during our ski trip in February 2018.

The booking with Francoise was very smooth, and she responded to all our enquiries promptly, giving advice to us on what to expect especially the drive in snowy condition.

On arrival, we were welcomed by the warm host, who showed us the house to every details. What’s more, she lent a helping hand when one of our cars got lost. Greatly appreciated.

Our stay was extremely pleasant. The house is spacious, the decor is warm and cozy, it is very much what we expect to be the Swiss style of living. All photos shown are not only close to the reality but better! The furniture is new and beddings are clean. We understand that minimum lighting and the dark ambient in living area and bed rooms was intentional (so that we can enjoy the night views to Grinderwald town), but we sometimes find it inconvenient to do other chores like play cards, or pack our luggage.

The fully equipped kitchen is the most complimented by the women in the family. An oven, a streamer-oven, a electric stove, coffee machine, dish washer, and many many pans and pots, utensils and cutlery, herbs and seasonings to choose from. There is even a fondue set for us to use! Just some minor complaints from them that there is no microwave (to sterilize milk bottles) and the freezer is too small, yet they still rank it the best kitchen ever!

Also over and above our expectations are the separate storage room for skis and ski boots, the huge laundry, the heated towel racks. Built by the hillside, the outdoor area is on a slope. Kids found endless joy using it as a slide! They were also excited to see an unexpected visitor - fox!

The drive to the house was challenging for the first time as GPS showed us a shortcut which is actually quite dangerous. So do ask Fransciose for driving instructions beforehand. While it takes around 20 minutes to drive to the ski spots, we have no trouble finding carparking there. The supermarket and garbage disposal point are also along the way.

Highly recommended for families or a few couples who are looking for a quiet getaway, with stunning views!

Owner's Response: Thank you Kar Lok for your very positive feed back! I am glad that you had a nice stay in Grindelwald and that you liked your stay at my place! I am really sorry though , that you had not enough light in the sleeping rooms! Actually there is a dimmer on the main lights in all rooms but I am afraid that I forgot to tell you as you arrived by day light on a very sunny day! I am also aware that the freezer is too small that's why I will buy an extra one this spring. Concerning the micro wave: I do not like it that's why I do not have any ... sorry ... I do appreciate your constructive critics and will do my very best to improve :-) Thank you for your very detailed feedback! You are very welcome to be my guests again anytime ... I wish you and your family all the best... Kind regards, Francoise

phantastisches Haus in Bestlage

  • 5 of 5
