About the property

The Corner House is a period terraced house, located in the heart of Teignmouth, moments away from both the main seafront beach and the beautiful estuary-facing back beach. As well as its premium location, the house is well appointed with contemporary kitchen and bathroom, laundry facilities, two TV sets and a DVD player. Wi-fi broadband is being installed this spring and will be available from March onwards. The house consists of living room, dining room, kitchen, utility room, and upstairs is a light and spacious double room, a room with bunk beds and an attic room (steeper stairs) with twin beds. On the first floor there is also a contemporary bathroom with toilet, bath and shower, and an additional separate toilet.

Based in the small and friendly town centre, you have a wealth of shops, cafes and bistros on your doorstep. With its Victorian pier, lido, play park, crazy golf and skate park all within easy reach, Teignmouth is a perfect holiday destination for families. The back beach facing the harbour and estuary is also particularly delightful where you can watch the boats go by, pick up freshly made crab sandwiches and enjoy a pint at The Ship Inn on the beachside. The ferry to the pretty village of Shaldon opposite makes regular crossings from the back beach.

For those who enjoy an active day out, Dartmoor is 20 minutes drive away, with its magnificent tors and excellent walking, and there is plenty of other unspoilt countryside in the area surrounding the town to explore.

Teignmouth is at the eastern edge of the 'English Riviera' which stretches through Torbay to Dartmouth and beyond, all of which can be easily accessed by train or road. Dawlish and Dawlish Warren to the east are also popular seaside resorts with a breathtaking train route along the sea wall from Teignmouth.

Teignmouth's pretty railway station is 6 minutes' level walk from The Corner House and there are regular buses from Exeter and Newton Abbot. Although the house has no designated parking space a parking permit can be arranged at a cost of £24 for a week. If this is required please contact the owner beforehand. There is a one hour free parking zone outside the house, and several car parks in the town, one of which is only 40 metres away just around the corner.

A hidden gem close to everything

We stayed over the Easter school holidays with 4 adults and 2 children (4yo & 18mths). The position of the Corner House was great as beaches and town so close and parking was no hassle as a permit was conveniently sorted for us. Bedrooms were spacious, kitchen well equipped and lounge very cosy. We loved the thoughtful cream tea that awaited us and the owners were fantastic at communication - emails were responded to quickly and the guide book inside the house was detailed. Having small children, we especially loved the plastic cutlery, the games/books in the cupboard and bunk beds (plenty of room for our travel cot in any of the 3 rooms) and the use of a washing machine. Towels were plentiful and the house was immaculately cleaned too. To further equip for families a highchair would be a nice added bonus to save packing our own - that's our only thought for the future. Would highly recommend to others and would use again if returning to the area.

A hidden gem!!

Perfect holiday home, in a lovely location. The house was very spacious yet cosy and everything you would want, home from home. Very clean, comfy beds, ample towels, as well as a lovely powerful shower, which you don't always get!! Although very central it was very peaceful with many things to do/visit on your doorstep. Lovely walks along the beach, ferry to Shaldon or venture a little further by car to Torquay (30 mins), where we took the ferry across to Brixham. Many thanks to Henrietta for the quick responses when booking and answers to our enquries, also tips on where to eat and the nice welcome basket, enjoyed by all!! We will definitely recommend to others and hope to return in the future. Macharia family, Tewkesbury, Glos.

Brilliant location! Beach is 2 minutes away. House is very clean and comfortable.

Excellent for all ages. Nearby Shaldon is a lovely town with a great Ness Cove beach which is accessible through smugglers tunnel. Children loved the adventurous feel to it! Make sure to have a picnic on the green just before the tunnel.

The Owners of the Corner house are extremely helpful and welcomed us with yummy cream tea with all the trimmings! Would definitely go back!

What a gem of a place to stay

I’ve just returned from a short stay at the Corner House with my elderly parents. I have to say the property was a delight. It’s modern, tastefully decorated and exceptionally clean. The house is on the flat and central which was ideal for my less mobile parents. It is situated minutes from the sea front, the shops and the ferry crossing to Shaldon which is well worth a visit. The owner Henrietta couldn’t have been more accommodating. Her thoughtful touches such as the Welcome pack, reading lights on each bed, beach towels, even down to putting the central heating on so the house was warm and cozy when we arrived on a chilly day. I can’t recommend this property enough and will definitely be booking again.
