About the property

4 Bedrooms, 3 Bathrooms, Sleeps 8 PET FRIENDLY

This cozy 4 bedroom/3 bath home is under new ownership and located within walking distance of the ski slopes through the path (226 feet) or down the backyard into the new Terrain Park, hiking trails (.3 miles), dog park (across from Fred's), various restaurants, and Fred's General Mercantile (.5 miles). Once you arrive, you can relax and put the car keys away! Two parking spaces are conveniently located right outside the house.

The upper level of the home consists of one bedroom with bunk beds and a full bathroom. The loft has a brand new flip game table that allows you to play pool or air hockey! The lower level has two bedrooms with a queen size bed each that share Jack and Jill bathroom. The master bedroom in on the other side of the lower level and has its own bathroom. The living room has a gas fireplace with a couch and love seat as well as a comfy rocking chair. A stack-able washer and dryer can be found in the utility closet right off the kitchen, which has been recently updated and is fully stocked. The mudroom is right off the kitchen with a door that leads to the fenced-in doggy area (there's even a doggy door) . No more freezing morning walks to take the dogs out - you can just supervise them from the warmth of the mudroom or kitchen windows.

As you exit from the living room area, there is large deck area with a 5person hot-tub and gas BBQ for everyone to enjoy. A bird feeder attracts some of the most beautiful birds in the area.

For activities other than SKIING and/or MOUNTAIN BIKING, exit the neighborhood on Skiway Road and take a short walk on the wide shoulder of Highway 184 to Overlook Trail, a .4 moderate HIKE that ends in Perry Park. There you can picnic while taking in the beauty of the waterfall and pond. If you cross Tamarack Road across from Perry Park, you can begin Upper Pond Creek Trail called Beech Mountain's favorite trail, a one mile easy hike ending in Lake Coffey. This can easily turn into a full day of family fun!

A half-mile walk to Fred's for a quick lunch of their famous Chili will have you ready to cross Highway 184 for a visit to the recently built DOG PARK! Two large running areas are available for small and large dogs as well as sitting areas for owners to relax and take in the view.

Ready for an afternoon of ZIP LINING, TUBING, or RAFTING? A short 17 mile drive to Hawksnest or 25 miles to Boone, will have you on an adventure ride of a lifetime. How about HORSEBACK RIDING? Banner Elk Stables are 8.5 miles away from your doorstep and are open year-round. On the way back from riding, a quick stop at the TROUT FARMS on NC-105, will ensure a great ending to a fun-filled day.

Beech Mountain Resort now has a state-of-the-art snowtubing park. Located in the alpine village at the base of the slopes, the park has runs that stretch 750 feet and offer sweeping views of the Blue Ridge Mountains. No lift ticket is required for tubing. Once riders reach the bottom, the Magic Carpet conveyor quickly returns them to the top. The cost is $25 on weekdays and $30 on weekends and holidays. Sessions last one hour and 45 minutes.

About Betty Trueba

Carlos and Betty have been married 34 years, have two wonderful daughters, and look forward to being grandparents this fall. They have both been avid skiers but due to a knee injury a few years back, Betty pursues her other passions - road cycling and mountain biking, Skis, Pedals, 'n Paws allows them to be close to their hobbies as well as have their beloved American Bulldogs - Junior and Mimi, along for the fun.

Betty Trueba purchased this cabin in 2015

Why Betty Trueba chose High Country & Blue Ridge Mountains

North Carolina has always tugged at their hearts having visited the area often with their family. This past winter, after visiting the vacant lot they own in RiverBend at Lake Lure, Carlos and Betty decided it was time to build the cabin of their dreams. They continued their Christmas vacation to Beech Mountain discussing their plans and stayed at the Treehouse Condominiums near Kick Turn Lane. They had visited this area before and had even vacationed in the cabin nearest the slopes in 2005. While going through a real estate brochure, Betty found that 106 was on sale and the rest is history. They were able to do a quick walk through and immediately upon their return to Miami, decided to purchase the cabin, realizing this was their dream home and location. Eager to share in their good fortune, the Truebas have opened their home to other families and guests looking to enjoy the beauty of North Carolina.

What makes this cabin unique

Ski, Pedals 'n Paws offers the best of all worlds . Enjoy all the outdoor activities close by and then come home and relax by the fire. Best of all, your pets will always be welcome regardless of breed, since Betty is often fosters and rescues dogs back in Miami.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Well equiped but older

  • 5 of 5

Mrs. Betty was most attentive before and during our stay. We stayed during February to ski and it was into the 20's some nights. There were some issues with heat, but Mrs. Betty got us help. We love how close the house is to the slopes and the hot tub was refreshing. Hope we get to return next year.

great location

  • 4 of 5

House was in great location and was fully stocked with everything you would need and clean...Rated 4 star because of fireplace not working and if you turned the heat up in the main room the bedrooms were very hot if the fireplace would have been working that may have helped in keeping the rooms cooler while heating the main living area...Owners were very nice and sent in a portable heater to help.

Snowboard Park In the Back Yard

  • 5 of 5

Had a wonderful Xmas vacation in this house. Have been coming to Beech for over 15 yrs. but this has been the best house ever. The location can't be better, within walking distance to numerous Restaurants, Fred grocery store and Ski Rental equipment. Close to and easy access to the main road and beautiful pond with Koi as you approach the property. The back deck overlooks the Snowboarding park with beautiful views and a great Jacuzzi to relax after an active day. You have everything you need if you decide to stay in and cook. Is a very confortable house.

We will keep coming to this house every year, just Love it.

Recommend it highly for sking, biking, hiking or site seeing. Lots of things to do and see around.

To top it off this is a Pet friendly house, so you can take your four legged kids on vacation as well.

Hope everyone will enjoy it as much as we did.

Perfect Ski Vacation

  • 5 of 5

My family and I try to go to Beech Mountain at least once a year and have stayed in many places however this house was perfect. The slopes of Beech mountain are just a few minutes walk so we were able to ski down and get lift tickets. When we needed a break or a meal we just skied back in to the house...amazing and convenient!! We never had to drive! The house itself is much larger than portrayed in the photos and was fully stocked (which is hard to find). It is nicely decorated, very comfortable and has a huge deck, equipped with a large hot tub that over looks the terrain park. Being able to bring our dogs was a huge bonus for us and the house has a fenced in area where the dogs can run around. The whole family was so impressed with this house we have all decided it is our favorite when visiting the mountains and we will definitely be looking to stay there again on return trips. Love this place!

We are thrilled to be providing our guests with as many amenities as possible and can't be happier about the new terrain park right in our back yard. It is truly a snowboarder's paradise. We look forward to having you return to Skis, Pedals 'n Paws!

A week on Beech Mountain

  • 5 of 5

Overall we had a great time the week we spent at Skis Pedals and Paws (such a cute name). I loved the little arrangement over the fireplace. And as we had two small furry children with us the fenced in yard full of the fall leaves was an added bonus both for them and us. Our short walks to the ski slop and to the dog park every morning were just perfect. I don't think we ever went without counting no less then 20 deer. And don't miss the giant koi pond just a couple houses down. Fred's general and a few restaurants are all within walking distance.

We enjoyed several hikes and especially liked Grandfather Mointain and Blueridge Mointain parkway. Beautiful views from the mile high suspension bridge. We also spent a splendid day at Grandfather mountain winery. Wine tasting and a picnic lunch along the water.

The house itself had most anything you need if you just want to spend the day at home sitting in front of the fireplace or out on the deck. Unfortunately as you know you are still having problems with the hot tub. It would have been nice to have that available especially after some of those longer hikes. But overall the house is very comfortable easy to find and well located.

Owner's Response: So glad you all had a good time and got to enjoy the many activities the mountain has to offer. We have finally found a solution to the troublesome spa (crane couldn't get new one over the house due to trees and wires). The back deck is being expanded ten feet towards the slopes and all along the side of the house towards the front with new steps from the ground floor. This will allow the old tub to be removed and the new spa to be walked up the stairs. All shall be completed by Thanksgiving so please be sure to check on VRBO.com/697634 for updated pictures. Thank you for your patience and we look forward to welcoming you back.

Excellent stay with beautiful views

  • 4 of 5

The cabin was a perfect for a small group. The cabin is well furnished with all the modern amenities and still maintaining the atmosphere of the cabin. It is walk away distance to the ski slopes and also major dining areas at beach mountains. The property manager lives very near and if you have any problem she will be right there to help you. Very helpful people and she gave an overview of the cabin and things to do around(especially if you are new to the area and looking for some insider local knowledge). The owner was very fast in responding to your reservation requests. I got my request approved in less than 20 minutes.

I would go back and stay at this place.
