About George

Craigmoor is a full time holiday let. We live in London.

George purchased this cottage in 2016

Why George chose Bourton-on-the-Water

The property has been completely refurbished over 10-12 months. The works have been completed in February/March 2017. I have been at the property almost every day throughout this period. I believe that the quality of the work, the finish, as well as the furnishing are exceptional. We have used thick engineered floor, quartz worktops, natural stone in the kitchen, entrance hall and the bathrooms, underfloor heating, fitted a pressurised hot water system, completely rewired the cottage etc. I am honestly not sure if there is a market for a property of this quality as I could not find anything that would be comparable to it in the area. I look forward to receive feedback from guests.

What makes this cottage unique

Bourton-on-the-Water is often referred to as the "Venice of the Cotswolds", due to its character and beauty. Although it is one of the most popular tourist spots, this property offers quiet tranquillity. Situated in one of the most elegant areas of Bourton-on-the-Water as it overlooks a large green and all of the surrounding properties are old traditional Cotswold stone cottages. It is also perfectly located for exploring other beautiful villages and towns in the Cotswolds.

The cottage is at the heart of Bourton-on-the-Water with pedestrian access to the High Street, the footbridges and the footpath along side the River Windrush. In addition to the lovely walks in the village centre, the cottage also boasts the benefit of several public footpaths, two of which begin opposite the cottage. Moreover, numerous shops, pubs and restaurants, including the village supermarket are located a short walk away.

The cottage is an ideal option for friends or families seeking a relaxing break in a beautiful truly luxurious traditional cottage in a stunning Cotswold village.

A stunningly beautiful has with lots of character but all the modern conveniences, perfect location

  • 5 of 5

We had a fantastic stay in Bourton-on-the-water which was in a large part due to the character and location of this house. It is beautifully decorated with charming features in every room and every modern appliance you need. My husband and I started every morning strolling the five minute walk across the river at the end of the street to the bakery to pick up tea and fresh scones which we’d then eat outside in the front garden. Our three children loved the bedrooms at the top floor of the house and also the charming bunk bed room. They also loved eating breakfast at the modern kitchen counter. When we finished dining and wandering in town in the evenings it was so easy and peaceful to just walk home and relax in the beautiful living room.

The owner was very helpful to me making the booking from overseas and made this process, as well as checking in very easy.

I can’t recommend the house highly enough !

A 85th birthday family weekend party. Very comfortable for all, from 15yrs to 85!

Lovely strolls around the beautiful village.

(A measuring jug in the kitchen would have been a benefit).

Thoroughly recommend. Thank you

Beautiful place, perfect for our group

  • 4 of 5

A beautiful cottage in the perfect location for exploring Bourton on the Water (an equally beautiful little village). Our group of 7 friends have stayed at a few cottages throughout the UK and there is no doubt that this was definitely the most luxurious so far. George was helpful in the run up and texted on the day to check that we had everything we needed, which we did - the cottage had everything. One small downside was that on our 2nd day just as we were about to go and explore the area, one of the bedroom doors just refused to open (it turned out that the lock was pretty cheap and had snapped unluckily during our stay). We stayed over the start of the Easter Bank Holiday and to be fair to George he was available on the phone and after some time organised a lock smith who arrived within an hour and a half. It did however mean that we lost a few hours of exploring so this did negatively affect our stay, despite otherwise having a great experience. Nevertheless, this is an absolutely stunning property in a gorgeous area of the Cotswolds and I would highly recommend to others.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your review I am pleased to read that you have appreciated the true luxury and character of Craigmoor Cottage as well as the outstanding natural beauty of the village and the surrounding area. With reference to the unfortunate event of the failed “tubular mortice lock” I was particularly pleased to read that you noticed my successful attempt, to find a locksmith, within 30-40 min of your call, that will be at Craigmoor within one and half hour on Good Friday bank holiday. It was not easy, it took several calls. Furthermore, after reading your review, I had the opportunity to search for “tubular mortice lock” and I found that indeed this is an inexpensive product, as all such locks cost around 5 pounds. Once again thank you for your review.

I and my family arrived at Craigmoor Cottage and couldn’t be happier with the cottage .

  • 5 of 5

Craigmoor Cottage is not only beautifully decorated , with a lovely garden out front but is also incredibly conveniently location to tea shops , restaurants , and small gift stores,. The cottage itself has every item to make your stay as comfortable as possible. The dining room & living room accommodated all

seven of our group , and we couldn’t have been happier with the layout of the cottage. It is decorated in a simple , understated lovely style , making for a very relaxing atmosphere. George the owner was lovely and accommodating. We would recommend Craigmoor Cottage to anyone looking for a wonderful vacation in the Cotswolds .. we certainly hope to return again soon.

It gives me great pleasure to host guests like you and your family. After reading your review it seems that the finished luxury cottage not only meets but also exceeds the expectation of our guests. This is exactly what I was aiming to achieve. I certainly hope to welcome back very soon.

Car: not necessary

If you’ve got a SatNav then please input the cottage’s postcode of GL54 2DW, which should take you on the fastest route. Beware that some SatNavs will show the cottage diagonaly across from Craigmoor's actual location.

Otherwise, once you reach Clapton Row drive past Cotwolds pottery and once you reach an open green space, the cottage is on your left. There is a sign with the name of the cottage on the front metal gate.
