L'Hirondelle is one of *2 apartments situated in a 3 storey stone village house in the heart of the charming mediaeval village of Vezenobres. Vezenobres is perched on the side of a hill overlooking the beautiful surrounding countryside. (*The other apartment 'Les Figuiers' is a 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom apartment for 4 people. Please see the separate listing for details. Both apartments may be rented together for a party of 6).

L'Hirondelle is a spacious one-bedroom apartment based on the 2nd floor of the property.

It's 'space' comprises:

Living room - this spacious, light and airy room has comfortable seating around a large fireplace, with an open plan dining area and a stairway leading to the double bedroom. It has stunning views of the surrounding countryside from it's two shuttered windows. There is a TV which includes some english speaking channels, a DVD player and internet access via WiFi.

Double bedroom - furnished with 160cm (Queen-size) bed and has full length sliding windows (along the width of the bedroom) which lead onto the private sun terrace. Here there is a table and chairs and deckchairs where you can enjoy a leisurely breakfast, or relax over pre-dinner aperitifs watching the sun slip behind the distant Cevennes.

Kitchen - a small galley kitchen which has a fridge, 2 ring gas hob, combination microwave oven, the usual appliances such as kettle, toaster and coffee machine and is well equipped with utensils and crockery. Along with the outdoor BBQ, you have all the amenities for preparing your tasty Mediterranean meals with local market produce, which can be enjoyed outdoors on the shared rear terrace with splash pool.

Bathroom - a large room with bath, walk-in shower and wash basin. There is a heated towel rail, washing machine, clothes airer and ironing board and iron. There is a separate WC.

OUTSIDE there is a peaceful shared rear terrace with splash pool for relaxing and outdoor dining. Here there 2 BBQs and garden furniture including table and chairs and 2 sun loungers. (The splash pool is shared with 1 other apartment). There is also a private terrace for the sole use of L'Hirondelle guests, accessed from the bedroom, again equipped with table and chairs and furniture to enjoy your aperitifs.

The house occupies an elevated position in the village and an open south-facing aspect, offering unrivalled views of the surrounding area. A walk to the top of the village brings you to the Table D'Orientation, where on a clear day there are panoramic views stretching over 100km, with the Mediterranean to the south, the Cevennes to the west and Mont Ventoux in Provence to the east.

We share our lives between the UK and this sunny and special corner of France. We first purchased a property in the Gard in 2003 and were overwhelmed by the variety the area has to offer. Here, we can indulge our love of food and wine with the fabulous gastronomic restaurants, the fresh market produce and endless wine domaines. We can sail on the Med, walk or ski in the Cevennes (or the Alps a little further away), cycle around the vineyards and visit the pretty historic villages or the rich cultural sites closeby, such as Nimes, Uzès, Le Pont du Gard, Avignon, Montpellier and Arles.

The village of Vézénobres is credited with being a 'Village de Caractère' and 'Un des Plus Beaux Villages du Gard' and it is difficult not to instantly fall in love with the place. The house on Rue de L'Horloge was a 'coup de coeur' as soon as we saw it. A stunning 3 storey stone house close to the village centre, a short stroll away from the square with the fabulous restaurant, a lovely bar/bistro and the boulangerie. The 2 apartments 'L'Hirondelle' (for 2 people) and 'Les Figuiers' (for 2-4 people) retain all the character of an older stone property, whilst offering comfortable and well-equipped accommodation in a perfect location to explore all the area has to offer. There are stunning views from each apartment and the shared splash pool and rear terrace (and the private balcony in L'Hirondelle) are ideal for cooling off and putting your feet up with a nice glass of chilled rosé!

Vézénobres is a unique medieval village perched on a hillside, proudly overlooking the stunning surroundings. There can be fewer places which allow the visitor the chance to absorb the french lifestyle in such a fabulous location.

'L'Hirondelle' and 'Les Figuiers' are located on Rue de L'Horloge - a short stroll away from the village square.

The splash pool and rear terrace and the stunning views from the front windows are rare in a village property.

The property has excellent reviews and attracts guests back time after time.

A lovely stay in a beautiful village

We spent a week at this apartment property in September 2017 and we had a fantastic time. The location was ideal for us as we wanted to explore the Ardeche, Nimes, Uzes and the Carmague. Vezenobres was a great base for this and the village is simply stunning. Vezenobres is very relaxed and friendly, with a lot of charm thanks to the cobbled streets, clock tower and village centre.

The apartment itself is located in the medieval centre of the village and is the upper two floors of a 4 floor building. The apartment lower floor has the kitchen, large sitting / dining room and large bathroom, with the bedroom on the upper level, and has its own private balcony, which was a great sun trap. Access to the property is via a set of shared steps which also lead to the private shared pool area. On arrival we were met by Salima, the property manager, who was very helpful in showing us around.The apartment has got pretty much all of your home essentials, we cooked quite a few times during our stay and we were never short of utensils, crockery etc.

We can not recommend this apartment enough, and if you are looking for an authentic, romantic and relaxing escape in a village full of charm, this is the place for you.

Vézénobres is a listed 'Village de Caractère' and 'un des plus beaux villages du Gard'.

Vezenobres is a stunning medieval hillside village which has all the amenities including restaurants, boulangerie, tabac, supermarket, post office, pharmacy and beauty salon!

It is within easy reach of the vast sandy beaches of the Mediterranean, the vineyards of the Côtes du Rhone, the cultural sites of historic significance such as Avignon and the Pont du Gard, and the cosmopolitan towns of Montpellier, Nimes and Uzes. The bustling market town of Alès is 5 minutes drive away and closeby is lively Anduze with its street cafés, the famous mountain steam train 'Train à Vapeur des Cevennes' and the magnificent asian bamboo gardens 'La Bambouseraie de Prafrance' .

Play golf at outstanding golf courses, walk in the Cévennes and swim in the mountain rivers. Canoeing, rafting and horse-riding and skiing are all within easy access.

It is an ideal pied a terre to absorb the richness of the region and its culinary delights or as a place to relax with the family or on a romantic break

Other Activities: The area and climate has something for everyone - the outdoor activities, gourmet food and wine and historical sites!
