|Minimum Stay||3 - 4 nights|
A sweet two story, one bedroom unit with kitchen, living room and shower bathroom. Located in one of Pasadena's most beautiful and architecturally distinguished neighborhoods. Walking distance to theater, movies, restaurants and museums. There is street parking with a nightly fee of three dollars.
The unit has an adjacent patio and garden, outdoor dining, and wifi and cable television. It is air-conditioned and newly remodeled A fresh, efficient and comfortable space.
This house has been in our family for over forty years. While regularly upgraded it retains the charm of an early 20th century home. As a young couple we first moved to this area in 1972. with our one year old son. Shortly after my wife's mother moved in down the street into this address. After years in Sonoma County after retirement we returned to be close to family and the interests and variety of urban life in a beautiful city. Pasadena has a long and fascinating history with all the glitter of now and the charm of a gracious past.
We recently enjoyed a week’s stay at this property. We loved the location, a beautiful neighborhood close to businesses, shopping, and restaurants. (Pasadena has LOTS of great restaurants!) The unit is quite comfortable for two people who are not too tall nor too wide. All needs were provided plus extras…wine, breakfast, lots of books! It was unusually cold while we were there and the upstairs heating unit was on the blink. We made do with a space heater and the bed’s warm down comforter. Philip was a gracious host and we would have enjoyed even more opportunities to chat with him!
Phillip and Susan are great hosts. They had provided wine, chips and dip for our arrival. For breakfast the next day they had bagels, waffles, eggs and fruit. They were very helpful to familiarize us with things to do locally. We utilized Uber for transportation needs and were pleased with the results. I highly recommend visiting the Huntington estate and gardens just 2+ miles away. Colorado street is an easy 15 to 20 minute walk north through nice neighborhoods. THe shower is small and cramped and would not be suitable for those 6' or above in height.
Philip was a wonderful host. The apartment is small but very sweet and comfortable. I would absolutely recommend this listing to anyone looking for a place in Pasadena who does not require a lot of space. I definitely plan to stay here again if possible when I am back in town.
My daughter and I spent several days in Pasadena for a family event and so enjoyed our stay. Comfortable, cozy property with great hosts. We arrived in the afternoon to a bottle of wine and snacks with breakfast food items available for the next morning.
It was perfect for the two of us.
Lovely, walkable, convenient neighborhood. We are very pleased we chose this property!
We loved our short stay in Pasadena! The rental is located in a beautiful neighborhood within walking distance to shopping and site seeing. The owner was very friendly and made sure we had everything we needed. We highly recommend this rental and would love to stay there again in the future!!!!
What luck to have found this place! My husband and I were returning to the Pasadena area, where we used to live, for a week of work and play and were looking for a place close to Caltech that had more charm and seclusion than a hotel but was still affordable and convenient. Philip's sweet little carriage house definitely exceeded our expectations! He was a warm and generous host, ever helpful and thoughtful, and that personal touch extended to a variety of very welcome details throughout the apartment, like a bottle of wine, breakfast options in the fridge, fresh fruit, plenty of coffee, lots of spare linens (love those huge fluffy towels and extra pillows), good wifi with easy access instructions, even a hairdryer and curling iron and other bonus amenities tucked away in case you need them. The place itself has a bit of that wonderful old-book smell, and indeed there are plenty of those! Its decor is a lovely blend of timeless and modern--very white and spare and clean, but also traditional and functional and cozy. The bed is surprisingly comfortable, there's plenty of space in the bedroom to spread out from your suitcase, the counter space is excellent in the bathroom and the light in there is tremendous, the small kitchen is quite well equipped, and the backyard setting is private and safe (and it smells beautifully floral every time you leave the house). The location was ideal, in a gorgeous leafy neighborhood just a ten-minute walk from the shops on Lake and maybe 15 to Caltech at most, or a five-minute drive to Pasadena's Old Town attractions and the freeways. The only thing I'd note is that the place is best for those who are on the small side (which we are, so the size was perfect). So: stay here, chat with Philip (he's led a very interesting life), smell the flowers, and get some sun. We hope to return!
