Such a great home in central London! The location is fantastic and the apartment itself is beautifully presented and comfortable. As we are a family of 4, We really enjoy having 3 bathrooms! It feels safe, it’s quiet (on the top floor) and, despite being located in a bustling area, it is a really relaxing place to spend time. There are so many great bars and restaurants in the area, easy walking distance to many tourist attractions. The cleanliness and check in process was seamless. Thank you!
Thanks a lot for the nice review, Nikki. We are glad you enjoyed the central location of the flat as well as its amenities. We look forward to hosting you again in the future and will be glad to give you a special discount for next visit to London. Cheers until next time!
Great location - Spacious apartment!
Memorable visit - comfortable, well appointed accommodation, handy to Covent Garden.
Communication 'challenges'- would have appreciated responses to text requests, given no 'voice' contact.
Irritating having to 'apply for' a refund of security bond which had been debited to credit card rather than held for processing in the event of it becoming payable.
Great space, fantastic location
This apartment was perfect for us - we are a family of five.
It’s a really centric place, close to really nice areas and places to visit. The apartment was spacious, with three rooms, very comfy beds, a very nice little kitchen and fantastic bathrooms. Everything was lovely and clean when we get there and the team was really nice and always answering really fast. Highly recommended for families or any other people who wants a nice place to sleep and being at the center close to lot of places and public transport at the same time :)
Thanks for the nice review, Kelly. We are glad you enjoyed the Covent Garden location. We appreciate you recommending us to friends and family and look forward to welcoming you back again one day so we can provide you with special rates for returning guests. Until next time!
We visited London for 5 days in October 2017 and had a wonderful time exploring. We traveled as a group of six (3 couples) and we've all done some extensive traveling staying in many VRBOs.
Here's the positive: The location of the flat is really great for catching the bus, subway or walking. It's very near the London School of Econ and the Covent Garden area. And the view out the living area windows is fantastic as there's a historic building (Royal Courts of Justice) directly across the street. There's a coffee shop downstairs and a terrific pub (Temple Brew House) less than a block away that has great food and drink. The theatre district is close by too.
Here's the not-so-good: The elevator only carries 3-4 passengers or so at a time. We didn't mind the steps but if you can't handle 5 floors of steps, keep that in mind. The 3rd bedroom has a tiny closet and there's not much space to move around. We were on an extended trip so had packed for 11 days of travels. So the 24-inch closet was a challenge for two adults. The other rooms had more storage space. It was a little warmer than usual when we visited and so we slept with windows open. The early morning street noise is VERY loud. If you're a light sleeper, this could be an issue. There are fans provided in each bedroom which is a nice touch. We used them!
Overall, the apartment was nice, clean, and we liked the location.
The reason I wouldn't stay here again had to do with the sketchy check-in process. We prepaid 50% of our stay on a credit card through Homeaway. We were told we'd have to pay the balance upon check-in with cash. In several years of traveling, we've never been asked to do that. When we arrived, we met a young woman downstairs by the coffee shop and due to the elevator not being able to carry more than two people with luggage, I was concerned about going up alone. She asked if I had the cash and a credit card for the security deposit. Then she texted someone...I started wondering if I was going to get mugged when we got upstairs. Seriously! Obviously everything turned out fine but this was extremely unusual. Not sure why they do this.
Handing over 1200 pounds in cash was odd! I would gladly pay a 3% credit card fee if it was an option! No one mentioned this in reviews I read last year, but I see now there are a few comments about it. It's not a situation I was comfortable with and wouldn't choose to stay here again if that's the policy going forward.
Dear Sandy, thank you for taking the time to submit a review and providing such constructive feedback. We are happy to know you enjoyed the fantastic location of our apartment, it truly is hard to beat. We are sorry you found the lift to be small, but it is already much larger than other elevators you'd find in London. . In such historic buildings such as this one, elevators were not part of the original floor plan and only added in later years using the limited space available to avoid disturbing the layout. Most guests find that if they go up with their luggage in 2-3 trips, everyone can be more comfortable and not feel claustrophobic in the lift. We are also sorry to hear you found the flat to be lacking in storage, as the storage facilities are just as pictured on the listing. As with any flat located in the heart of the city, a little city noise is to be expected from time to time, but the fact that you can walk to most touristic sights in the city from there definitely helps to make up for it. We understand that every sleeper can have a different sensitive to noise, and we suggest that those who are not used to such city sounds use ear plugs at night if it prevents them from getting a good night's rest. We are also sorry to hear you found our check-in process to be unconventional, as we had outlined out procedures in the listing and again in your confirmation email. If you were uncomfortable with some aspect of it, we would have preferred you let us know before arrival, so we could have found another solution for you. The cash payment allows us to keep costs down for travelers and offer a better rate. As indicated in your confirmation email, the address provided was the meeting point for the key pickup. We did not mean to deceive you by any means and are sorry for any misunderstandings. As there is no reception in the residential building, we find it is more comfortable and convenient for guests to find this location, and it gives them a warm, covered space to wait should they arrive before the checkin person, especially if it is cold or raining outside. We do hope you'll give us a second chance to host you in the future, now that you know all of our procedures. You will of course, receive a special rate for returning guests. Best wishes to you until then.
Perfect location for a London experience--as long as you can find enough "New" British Pound Notes
We hired the flat for a family vacation to London for Christmas. The location is unbeatable right on the Strand across from the Royal Court of Justice and within walking distance to the Tate Modern, Borough Market, West End theatres, Buckingham Palace, Westminister Abbey, Covent Garden, the Underground etc.. The flat was clean and comfortable with a family gathering area where we would watch movies after a long day walking around London. We cooked brunch and ate out for dinner, and the kitchen worked well. We loved it!
The only negative was that we had to pay the other half of the payment in cash--british pounds--on arrival. That was a lot of cash and coming from the US it was actually challenging to find that sum of cash as Britain was in the middle of switching their currency and the only banknotes I could get were the old ones...I also felt uncomfortable carrying that quantity of cash and awkward giving it to a young woman who was a language student standing outside the flat before she showed us in. In the end it turned out fine, just seemingly unnecessary in today's modern economy. Others on Homeaway have commented on this previously, so would seriously recommend the company who operate these apartments to change their policy.
Thank you for taking the time to submit a review, Anthony. We are glad your family enjoyed the location of the apartment, as well as its spacious layout and amenities. As indicated on the listing, we require a 50% downpayment to secure the booking and collect the remaining 50% on arrival. This helps to keep our costs down and offer a better price to our guests. We hope you'll be in touch the next time you come to London, as it would be a pleasure to host you again and provide you with a special rate for returning guests. Best wishes until then!
Fantastic location, comfortable, but owner oriented.
Pros: great location opposite royal courts of justice so can walk to most central London attractions, Temple tube station within 5 mins walk, secure building, comfortable beds, nice living space, ‘luxury’ feel inside
Cons: having to pay half the amount in cash - not sure why as they had credit card facilities on the day, strict check in and out time and in fact could not check in at 3pm as the greeter was sorting out another property, no facility to leave luggage in meanwhile or at checkout, we were directed to left luggage facilities in train stations,
Dear Av, thank you for taking the time to submit your feedback regarding your recent stay with us in London. We are glad to know you enjoyed the great location of our flat as well as the views and security. As indicated on the listing and in all of our correspondance with you, the initial downpayment is made by credit card via the website, and the remaining amount in cash on arrival. Unfortunately we cannot offer luggage storage at as the flat is located in a private, residential building without a reception area. There are many lockers around the city where you can store your bags if required. We hope these minor items did not affect your overall enjoyment of London. You will always be welcome to stay in one of our flats as well as benefit from special rates for returning guests in the future. Cheers until then!
