I love the fact that I can walk out of my house and access bars, famous restaurants, music venues, and shopping. It nice to not have to travel outside my immediate vicinity for even the simple things in life like grocery shopping at Whole Foods, Fresh Market, Walmart, Breaux Mart and Rouses, all within a 1 mile radius of the house. Im amazed on any given day you can see a actor walking down street taking in the sights. It's the coolest thing ever! Make sure to try the famous Dat Dog and Cafe Atchafalaya just one block from the house
You have the street car just 6 blocks from the house and public transit system.

My name is Reginald, I moved to New Orleans about 10 years ago and fell in love with the city. I am a musician and have played around the world with some of the most iconic artist of today and the past. I am a food and music connoisseur so New Orleans is the perfect place for me. I'm very outgoing and love learning about different cultures. I am a very laid back person when it comes to hosting. I want you to feel at home the moment you walk through the door.
This property was one of the first structures built in the the neighborhood, in addition the place has so much charm and history built into the structure it just absolutely beautiful.
The most outstanding feature of the space is the exposed brick. The bricks are old St Joseph brick which are not made anymore. The structure use to be a carriage house in the late 1800's, you can still see to iron hooks lodged in the brick structure for a horse bridle and saddle.
This cottage is perfect for 2 people. Great location and felt very safe. Only thing missing was the coffee pot! But we improvised and brewed straight into the mugs.
Location is a block off of Magazine St. with all it's great restaurants and boutique shopping plus a CVS, Walgreens and a small grocer. Easy walking distance to St. Charles Streetcar which drops you right at Bourbon St. Local architecture is beautiful and we felt safe strolling through the Irish Channel neighborhood during the day and early evenings. No reason to rent a car , get a taxi or Uber from the airport and then pick up a 3 day pass at Walgreens and you can use it on either the streetcars or the bus lines as much as you want for the 3 days. We had a ball and everyone was very friendly and helpful .
We overall enjoyed our stay and location. The home was perfect for a couple and the place was clean and well kept. Not sure what the previous opinion was about a lack of towels, but we had everything we needed. We ate out during our stay, but there appeared to be the basic necessities if you wished to cook. Great lighting in all the home, especially the bathroom. You are steps away from Louisiana St and a short block off of Magazine St.
We paid on average 8-$10 for Uber rides to Canal St and then walked into the French Quarter. There are plenty of restaurants on Magazine as well as shopping, so we split time between the Quarter and Garden District.
The owner was quick to answer when contacted and the house was ready upon the check in time. I would definitely return and would recommend to friends and family. Feel free to contact if any questions or suggestions.
Loved the location and upscale finishes in this carriage house! Ample street parking available and right off Magazine Street. Highly recommend!
the place is very well located for shopping and dining along Magazine St. or St.Charles Avenue.the place is clean and laid out pretty well.Parking is on street, but this is the norm in NOLA. ON the minus side----There is no true TV reception (if you have Netflix ,you can stream it to the TV and watch movies).Really missed Newes and weather on the big screen. the mattress is uncomfortable and needs to be replaced.Apparently the landlord does not cook very much---the place needs more kitchen utensils and cookware.
Since no info and directions were provided through HomeAway leading up to our stay, in a panic, I had to email the owner to get a phone number and directions. Thankfully, he responded back quickly. This has never happened before where I have had to be the one to contact the property owner about the reservation in all our years of using vacation rentals. The owners always contact us or provide enough info through HomeAway or VRBO to get us to the rental and get us inside...Anyway, the owner lives next door to the rental and was very friendly and helpful upon arrival. He showed us everything we needed to know about the property for our stay. The inside of the property is beautiful, nicely decorated, and was spotlessly clean upon arrival. The old carriage house has lots of charm and gives a great NOLA vibe. The outside doesn't look like it would be anything, but the inside certainly wows. I did get the impression it is new on the rental market. Some basics were missing from the kitchen and bathroom like hand towels, extra paper towels, wine glasses, etc, and there were only two bath towels and wash cloths (no hand towel for the bathroom) for our five day stay, which was a little off-putting. Possibly the owner would have provided these things if we would have asked, but it seemed strange to have to ask so we didn't. Also, the only tv available is through Google Chromecast so if you don't have a Netflix subscription, you won't find much to watch. We ended up buying HBO Now just to be able to watch something. Not something we had planned on having to do. Those were the only snags we had. Everything else was on point. Wifi is good, the shower is very nice and spacious, bed is fairly comfortable, and location is supreme. We were able to walk easily to some restaurants (Shaya, The Rum House, Superior Seafood on St. Charles) and the Breaux Mart grocery store on Magazine several times and walked to the street car to ride to the French Quarter more than once. Driving and parking in this area was not a problem at all either. The houses are beautiful in the Garden District. You may walk a lot, but at least there is interesting architecture to view as you walk--just keep an eye on the lumpy sidewalks.
