About Robert Moore

Robert grew-up outside of Chicago and after a 30-year career in the software industry he became a successful entrepreneur and is now semi-retired. He currently works as an artist/painter while in Florida and works on their New Hampshire farm in the summer. Silvana was born and raised in Argentina and is a full-time Spanish Translator, subtitles movies and teaches Spanish and English.

We have been splitting our time between the Hooker Cove Cottage and our farm in New Hampshire and would now like to make our wonderful cottage available during the summer, while we are away, and perhaps do some travelling during the winter.

Robert Moore purchased this house in 2012

Why Robert Moore chose Florida Central Atlantic Coast

This old cottage was one of the first properties developed along the St Lucie River in Stuart in 1945. It's built like a tank and has lived through many hurricanes over the years. It was in desperate need of renovation so we took-on that task, hired a well-know local architect and interior designer to help us make our dream cottage a reality. The location is perfect; centrally located on the water, minutes from the village and the ocean on the widest part of Hooker Cove which is the 1st significant cove on the river off the ocean. It is often used by ocean-going pleasure boaters as a safe overnight mooring location. The yard is fantastic with approximately 1/2 acre fenced so we have plenty of room for our two Border Collies. There is also a huge garage that we may convert the upper half into an art studio one day. Oh...and the fishing is the best in the area, primarily because of the old concrete dock and oyster beds that have grown over the years.

What makes this house unique

We really enjoy the unobstructed view of the cove and the privacy that such a large lot provides. The location can't be beat: Right on the water, easy ocean and intercoastal access, minutes to village or the beach, excellent public golf course is right across the street. You can walk to Fresh Market or over the bridge to Sewell's Point. It's close to perfect.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Thank you for sharing your beautiful home with us. We celebrated our grandson's high school graduation and two of our granddaughter's birthdays. What a perfect place to do it. The kids were either in the pool or out on the boat for a week. We will definitely return. Again, thank you for opening your home to us.

We love staying at Hooker Cove Cottage as it so quickly becomes our home away from home

  • 5 of 5

We will miss the beautiful sun rise every morning and that lovely view across the river. It has been a wonderful stay and we have enjoyed the cottage and the surrounding area very much.

The cottage has everything we need and is very comfortable. Several friends came to stay with us and we found Hooker Cove Cottage a perfect place to entertain and enjoy their company. Although there are many good restaurants in the area we enjoyed cooking at the cottage and eating at home to take full advantage of the beautiful view and pool area.

We hope to return one day

great location on river, with great kayak fishing minutes away. great bike riding up A1A as well. Ability to bring dog a bonus, and the artwork took it over the top. Wonderful vacation, great host, and 24/7 support nice, but never needed. Highly rec.

A Treasure on the Treasure Coast

  • 5 of 5

This house is absolutely amazing. From the welcome tour with Harriet (caretaker), the furnishings, and the beautiful views. Our family enjoyed our stay in this wonderfully comfortable home. The time we spent here was so lovely, that I hated to leave even for a short time to go food shopping. Watching the sunrise from the kitchen, enjoying the pool, or the private beach area. Needless to say, vacation went so very fast, that we shall just have to look forward to another visit to Hooker Cove Cottage.

Heavenly Respite from Anything and Everything!

  • 5 of 5

We rented Hooker Cove Cottage for 8 weeks this winter and could not have been happier with our choice. The house has been lovingly and beautifully restored to perfection. We were extremely comfortable, whether it was just the two of us or if we were hosting family and friends. Everyone who stepped through the front door had the same reaction - "WOW!" The layout is perfect with privacy and comfort for all. Many hours were spent relaxing by the pool with a book or swimming in the large, lovely pool.

The location on the river was not only scenic but perfect for the grandkids to fish and languish on the dock. There was an osprey nest a few docks down and we became very involved with their nest and hatchlings as well as the other resident birds who visited daily. Our little dog had the time of her life and found she actually did like to swim in the warm waters of the river unlike the very cold New England waters she's used to.

Stuart is charming and we thoroughly enjoyed the town, the theatre, the restaurants, the convenience to the markets, golf and beach.

We enthusiastically encourage anyone who is looking for an exceptional vacation experience to give Hooker Cove Cottage a try. It's heaven. Made even better by the caretaker, Harriet, who took wonderful care of us and who is now a friend!

Thanks so much for sharing your wonderful spot with us. We'll be back!!

Great Family Vacation

  • 5 of 5

We arrived to the Hooker Cove Cottage and were immediately impressed. The cottage is absolutely furnished beautifully! The views are amazing and having the boat dock in our backyard was even better. We went fishing with a professional guide who picked us up at the house each morning. After a day on the water, the kids got to get in the water of the cottage's pool. At night we relaxed and told stories like the old days by the waterside fire pit. We even did the old shine the flashlight on your self while telling the "scary" stories. The best local beaches are only a 10 minute drive and the drive is taken up with scenery that is, well, incredible. We recommend the Hooker Cove Cottage to any family or couples that are looking for a beautiful place to lose yourself and forget about life for a while and create some wonderful memories.

Relaxation Palace

  • 5 of 5

Our recent trip to the Hooker Cove Cottage was a great success. The home is beautiful, well laid out, and wonderfully appointed with all that is needed and more. The patio area with the river breezes and afternoon shade makes a hot Florida afternoon pleasurable. The owner is very accurate with details and answers to your questions and the website pictures don't even begin to do justice to the peaceful beauty of this home. From a patio sound system to awesome shower fixtures this home is well equipped for a great vacation. We only wish we had stayed longer. The home was very user friendly for one of our group in a wheelchair and the dock worked nicely for our boat. It is also a great place to throw in a line and catch some snapper. The local caretaker is a wonderful lady who is very helpful and informative. She checked in with us during the week to make sure all was well and was available for any questions or problems. Overall this is one of our best rental vacations to date. Many thanks to the owners and the caretaker for a great experience for our family.

Known as the "Sailfish Capital of the World," the Atlantic Coast city of Stuart is located along Florida’s renowned Treasure Coast, north of Palm Beach and south of Vero Beach. Along with fishing and other water-intensive pleasures, Stuart is famed for its historic and pedestrian-friendly downtown. The Stuart Green Market and Live Music event is held every Sunday from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. near City Hall. And don’t miss the Stuart Heritage Museum and Road to Victory Military Museum. With a fine assortment of dining options and recreational opportunities.

We are located along one of the most desirable waterfront locations in Stuart; virtually across the street from the golf course, on the fishing and boating "wide water" of the St Lucie River and only a short drive to the Ocean Beaches or the quaint village of Stuart. You can be on the ocean in a short 10-minute boat ride or cruise over to the Manatee Pocket or downtown Stuart and tie-up for lunch or dinner. The Elliot Museum is close by and Oceanographic Institute is across the street from that.

Fishing and recreational boating is excellent right out the back door that leads to the old concrete dock and the beautiful St. Lucie River. Fishing right off the dock is excellent. We also have an undisturbed view across the wide river towards green Sewell's Point.
