About Robert Moore

Robert grew-up outside of Chicago and after a 30-year career in the software industry he became a successful entrepreneur and is now semi-retired. He currently works as an artist/painter while in Florida and works on their New Hampshire farm in the summer. Silvana was born and raised in Argentina and is a full-time Spanish Translator, subtitles movies and teaches Spanish and English.

We have been splitting our time between the Hooker Cove Cottage and our farm in New Hampshire and would now like to make our wonderful cottage available during the summer, while we are away, and perhaps do some travelling during the winter.

Robert Moore purchased this house in 2012

Why Robert Moore chose Florida Central Atlantic Coast

This old cottage was one of the first properties developed along the St Lucie River in Stuart in 1945. It's built like a tank and has lived through many hurricanes over the years. It was in desperate need of renovation so we took-on that task, hired a well-know local architect and interior designer to help us make our dream cottage a reality. The location is perfect; centrally located on the water, minutes from the village and the ocean on the widest part of Hooker Cove which is the 1st significant cove on the river off the ocean. It is often used by ocean-going pleasure boaters as a safe overnight mooring location. The yard is fantastic with approximately 1/2 acre fenced so we have plenty of room for our two Border Collies. There is also a huge garage that we may convert the upper half into an art studio one day. Oh...and the fishing is the best in the area, primarily because of the old concrete dock and oyster beds that have grown over the years.

What makes this house unique

We really enjoy the unobstructed view of the cove and the privacy that such a large lot provides. The location can't be beat: Right on the water, easy ocean and intercoastal access, minutes to village or the beach, excellent public golf course is right across the street. You can walk to Fresh Market or over the bridge to Sewell's Point. It's close to perfect.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Thank you for sharing your beautiful home with us. We celebrated our grandson's high school graduation and two of our granddaughter's birthdays. What a perfect place to do it. The kids were either in the pool or out on the boat for a week. We will definitely return. Again, thank you for opening your home to us.

Simply perfect

  • 5 of 5

This was our second summer holidays at Hooker Cove and once again, it was amazing. Same confort, "joie de vivre" outstanding view, perfect home equipment, ideal location.

We are used to renting houses all around the world and this one is simply perfect.

Thanks to Harriett for being so welcoming and to Robert, the owner, for keeping this beautiful villa available to us.

Home has everything we wanted: dock, beach, pool !

  • 5 of 5

Spent a week and loved it. Easily accommodated 6 of us. Kids spent the days in the pool and we kept our boat on the lift- caught snook in the cove. Sandsprit boat landing only 5 min away. The artwork in the home is amazing, as are the views from the back porch.

Wonderful Family Vacation in Stuart @ Hooker Cove Cottage

  • 5 of 5

Just returned from a terrific week in Stuart at the Hooker Cover Cottage. We really enjoyed the home and setting. This is a great property with a ton of amenities and well suited for families. The home is absolutely gorgeous inside and out! Super up to date on all amenities, kitchen, bathrooms, etc. The outside area with pool, small beach, and dock/pier was where we spent most of our time when we were not out enjoying other area attractions. The home is centrally located and very close to a variety of beach options. The service from both Robert (owner) and Harriet (caretaker) was superb. I would highly recommend the property and my family is already talking about our next trip to Stuart. Thank you so much for allowing us to create some very special memories in your vacation home!! P.S. - We absolutely loved all the RSM artwork and your story. Thank you.

Stunning Location

  • 5 of 5

The position of the house is simply stunning with a view of the water from each of the bedrooms as well as from the large, open plan, living area. The whole property is light, spacious and extremely comfortable . The artwork is fantastic and adds to the "WOW'' factor of the house.

We stayed for two weeks with our family including 9 year old grandson. We all loved to walk on the dock to watch the passing boats and to try our hand at fishing ! In the mornings, the sunrise reflected in the water was such a pleasure. The pool is large and the whole outside area takes maximum advantage of the beautiful views. The service provided by the owner and by the housekeeper was faultless in every way.

Stuart is a very pleasant place with several waterside bars and restaurants. The oceanographic centre was interesting and a big hit with our grandson.

Overall, a fantastic and relaxing holiday and we hope to return very soon.

We love staying at Hooker Cove Cottage as it so quickly becomes our home away from home

  • 5 of 5

We will miss the beautiful sun rise every morning and that lovely view across the river. It has been a wonderful stay and we have enjoyed the cottage and the surrounding area very much.

The cottage has everything we need and is very comfortable. Several friends came to stay with us and we found Hooker Cove Cottage a perfect place to entertain and enjoy their company. Although there are many good restaurants in the area we enjoyed cooking at the cottage and eating at home to take full advantage of the beautiful view and pool area.

We hope to return one day

great location on river, with great kayak fishing minutes away. great bike riding up A1A as well. Ability to bring dog a bonus, and the artwork took it over the top. Wonderful vacation, great host, and 24/7 support nice, but never needed. Highly rec.

Known as the "Sailfish Capital of the World," the Atlantic Coast city of Stuart is located along Florida’s renowned Treasure Coast, north of Palm Beach and south of Vero Beach. Along with fishing and other water-intensive pleasures, Stuart is famed for its historic and pedestrian-friendly downtown. The Stuart Green Market and Live Music event is held every Sunday from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. near City Hall. And don’t miss the Stuart Heritage Museum and Road to Victory Military Museum. With a fine assortment of dining options and recreational opportunities.

We are located along one of the most desirable waterfront locations in Stuart; virtually across the street from the golf course, on the fishing and boating "wide water" of the St Lucie River and only a short drive to the Ocean Beaches or the quaint village of Stuart. You can be on the ocean in a short 10-minute boat ride or cruise over to the Manatee Pocket or downtown Stuart and tie-up for lunch or dinner. The Elliot Museum is close by and Oceanographic Institute is across the street from that.

Fishing and recreational boating is excellent right out the back door that leads to the old concrete dock and the beautiful St. Lucie River. Fishing right off the dock is excellent. We also have an undisturbed view across the wide river towards green Sewell's Point.
