About Giannis Siganos
We will wait you at one of the most traditional village in East Crete! All our houses have been renovated and rebuilt from stones and wood. The village took its name from the fantastic sunrise which is occurred here as the name of the village in Greek language means sunrise. The view to the Libyan sea and to Chrissi island is magnificent and you can see it from all the apartments. We would be glad to show you the beautiful nature around as the variety of the canyons ,herbs, rare ancient olive trees which are located here are unique. In addition, the most beautiful archaeological sites on Crete are located here as Lasithi plateau, Zakros, Gournia and Minoan path.
Why Giannis Siganos chose Ierapetra
The small mountain village is the starting point of a wonderful central location for excursions; ranging from about Ierapetra Myrtos, Agios Nikolaos, Elounda, Vai and many other south-eastern destinations. Some options for natural sites very close to Anatoli village is Sarakina Kanyon and Selakano forest. Chrissi island which is famous for its beaches, is 40-minute ferry ride away. Diving, sailing, cycling and horseback riding are available. In adition, there are archaeological sites, as the Dictean cave, the Minoan Town of Gournia. the minoan path and the old bridge of Myrtos. Spinalonga island in Elounda and also the archaeological museum of Ierapetra. The village of the rising sun, as its name declares. The golden rays illuminate Anatoli, the hanging rocks, the Holy Cross church, Drygies, Karkasa, and give the impression that the sun keeps rising. The area of Anatoli has many ecclesiastical monuments, Monasteries and Byzantine icons of great art.The old traditional settlement of Anatoli has remained untouched by time, with its stone-built houses, the alleys, the old Kato Vrysi. Some years ago, it entered a program ofrenovation, was characterized as a traditional settlement and today houses and tourist lodgings of exceptional esthetics are built in stone. In a few years, Anatoli of Ierapetra willbe one of the most beautiful villages of Crete, with its wonderful climate, its extraordinary view, its incomparable natural landscape on which the Museum of Natural Historyof Crete has worked and about which it published a relevant document.Anatoli as well as its residents have to this day been successful in the agricultural, tourist and intellectual sectors. Personalities coming from the village dominate the political, social and intellectual life of our country. Hosting important cultural events, with itshistorical, folkloric and musical contributions, it is a center of attraction of bothlocals and foreigners. With a tavern, a coffee house, a renovatedold school.

Quiet Far Away Village
The owner was very responsive throughout booking and upon our arrival. A very nice lady was at property to greet us. Although property was very clean and nice welcome gifts of bottled water, Raki, fruit and and a Cretan snack it was not what we expected. The village is a very sleepy village with only one Taverna to go to and one very small market that only sold water, sodas, beer and maybe cookies and crackers. If you are a real hiker There are some great hikes you could do right from property but all of them are out in the blazing sun if you go in summer months. The closest beach we felt was not a 15 minute drive but rather a 30 minute drive as also with more restaurants and markets. To go have dinner late at night and enjoy some wine driving back to property up a very winding road in the dark for 30 minutes would not be advisable. You definitely need a car at this location. Lastly, I am a BIG animal lover but it really bothered me as the village was over run by cats. More cats then people it appeared. When we sat out on our small terrace cats would immediately come and surround us and beg for food. They would even jump up on the patio table and try and get into apartment whenever we opened a door. It was upsetting to me because I felt they all were hungry and needed food. If you want total seclusion, a non beach area this is for you, but if you want to be able to walk to restaurants in a quaint small water front town this is not for you.
Thank youTerrie. I appreciate you took the time to submit a review. The truth is that the closer beach is 12 km from the village and this trip usally takes 15-20 minutes . However you did not stay the all period you had booked ,you have unfortunately stayed only one night and I am sure that if you would have stayed longer you would have enjoyed a lovely stay and you would have more information related your stay! You are always welcome!
We had a wonderful time in the beautiful Nefeli villa. Ioannis and Kyriaki were excellent hosts and were so helpful and had us around for food and drinks on our last night. The location is beautiful with a stunning view. I would recommend this villa to anyone, thank you so much Ioannis and Kyriaki!
Thank you very much for your nice words and we are very glad that we have met you. We have enjoyed your company very much and we wish the best for the future!
A wonderful, peaceful holiday spot.
We really enjoyed our stay at the Anatoli Traditional Villas. It was just what we were hoping for during our time in Crete. The peaceful and friendly village gave us a small slice of traditional life on the island. With a great view of the countryside and the sea, we couldn' t have picked a better spot to start our days. Kyriaki and Giannis were very gracious hosts and had us over for a wonderful evening of storytelling and tastes from the island. We are happy to recommend this villa and look forward to our next visit.
Thank you very much Rick and Carolyn for your kind words! We are very glad that you enjoyed your stay and we are looking forward to see you again!
Many Thanks for this nice hospitality!
The accommodation is ideal for hiking in Dicti and Selakano mountains, which are not well developed for tourism. Even a trip to the eastern Lassithi plateau with a visit to the Zeus Cave is quite feasible. The original Cretan stone house, which was lovingly restored, immediately radiated a feel-good and cleaness atmosphere. The small village of Anatoli offers an ideal starting point for friends of natural living and hikers. Our hosts Kyriaki and Giannis were stimulating and helpful conversation partners, always ready to answer all our questions about the country.
Thank you very much Mike for your review. We are very glad that you enjoyed your stay and you liked the location. You are always welcome!
Fantastic, comfortable location in the mountains of southern eastern Crete. The views breathtaking and the local people very welcoming.
Our Villa was first class and would recommend this beautiful and peaceful location to anyone who is looking for sunshine, Culture in a unique part of Greece.
The hosts are helpful and friendly and kind with invited my partner and me for a drink and some food on their balcony. A lovely gesture on our last evening in Crete.
Overall this was our of my best experiences on holiday, A tranquil part of Crete that has to be visited in order to appreciate its standing.
Thank you very much Charlie and Rachel for your kind words! We are looking forward to see you again!
