About the property

Plaidy at The Moorings is a 2 bedroom holiday apartment in West Looe. It's a little holiday haven with the most incredible views.

The main feature of the apartment is the lounge with its beautiful bay window and the view! It's the perfect place to sit back, relax and enjoy the view of Banjo Pier and out along the coastline to Rame Head. Watch the world go by in East Looe town or watch the fishing boats as they come back in from the sea and land their catch in Looe Harbour. If you can tear yourself away from the window, a TV and DVD player are also provided in the lounge!

There is a spacious main bedroom with a kingsize bed, wardrobe and vanity area. The second bedroom is smaller, but also has wardrobe, vanity area and can either be set out with 2 single beds (2'6'' wide) or 1 kingsize bed, providing flexibility to suit your requirements.

The newly fitted kitchen is fully equipped with double oven, hob, dishwasher, kettle, toaster and a dining table for 4. This leads to a utility / drying area, which houses the fridge (with small freezing compartment), microwave and a handy second sink. It's a great space for drying out the towels after a day at the beach.

Plaidy has a good sized, gated terrace area out the front of the building. This also looks out on to those great views. It is a perfect spot for enjoying your morning cuppa or alfresco dining. There is also a laundry room, with free washing and drying facilities. Both the terrace and laundry are shared with the other apartments in the building.

Plaidy benefits from free WiFi access for all guests, and is located close to all of the local amenities of Looe. East Looe can be reached by crossing the bridge at the end of West Looe Quay. Alternatively, at high tide during the holiday season you can catch a small ferry boat across instead - then you really know you are on holiday by the seaside.

We would advise that Plaidy is a first floor apartment. It is accessed initially from the road by a little pathway up, but then there is a staircase leading up the outside of the building to our front door (as shown in the photographs). These steps are perfectly fine for most, but we do advise all of our guests to take care and hold on to the rail. Although the apartment is absolutely ideal for families, we would suggest, therefore, that it is not a great option for those with children under 6 years old. We also wouldn't recommend it for anyone with mobility issues.

There is no parking immediately outside Plaidy, but guests can choose to either pay to park on West Looe Quay, (just a short walk away and visible from the bay window in the lounge), or benefit from free on-street parking on Marine Drive just past Hannafore Point, which is just 5-9 minutes walk (depending on where you get a space).

Why Nick Johnson chose Looe

I have been visiting Looe nearly every year since i was 8 years old and have always loved the place.

This apartment has the best of all worlds being on the west side where you are away from the hustle and bustle of East Looe, yet you overlook everything, East Looe ,the river ,the pier ,and the bay.

The beach,shops, bars and restaurants of East Looe are a 10 minute walk away.

What makes this apartment unique

Sitting on the terrace having breakfast,an evening meal or a drink is just delightful whilst watching the fishing boats return or the sunset over the bay.

Even in November there is a charm about Looe and taking in the view from the window, whatever the weather.

There is a good sized wardrobe and vanity unit with mirror and sockets.

Lovely apartment with an amazing view!

Nicely appointed decor with everything you need for your stay. We had a great time and loved the views. This is an amazing place, but not a place for anyone with physical limitations, as it is a bit of a steep trek to get to.

the only slight drawback for some might be the steep steps up to the front door but the information package speaks about this . its worth it !

A lovely time in Looe and a great stay at plaidy

Plaidy is a lovely apartment, fantastic and spacious accommodation with stunning views of the harbour and the sea. The bed in the main bedroom is king size and really comfortable (which is really important to us) The kitchen facilities are good and has all the utensils you will need. It was our first visit to Looe and we loved it. Great Cornish hospitality and of course fantastic pasties! Parking is an issue but at the bottom of the access to the apartment you can pull in and load and unload. We parked about 10 minutes away on the Coastal Rd so didn't incur any car park charges. We didn't use the car during our 5 day stay as the public transport system both train and bus is excellent. Lots to see and do, we will definitely go back.

Stunning location.

Nicely appointed and no issues at all with the property. Great views of Looe as advertised. Only issue is the parking arrangements for unloading or packing back up again as do not agree that it’s ok to park on the blind bend while unloading. Apart from that , great place.

What a view

The apartment is cosy and very clean, everything you need.Great base for walking , eating and drinking in many restaurants, we feel very relaxed and fit , after the walk and the steps to Plaidys front door although the view from the lounge window is worth it.

The apartment is as described and all information spot on.

We've just arrived back from a 5 night stay. An amazing apartment with a great view. Anyone looking to book don't hesitate, you won't be disappointed. All information is totally correct. A must visit is Polperro we fall in love with the place. A nice touch is the boat across to the other side in Looe harbour 50p each can't go wrong. Was amazed when we got across to find lovely little streets with some lovely shops, restaurants & pubs.

Back to the apartment, bed very comfortable as are the sofas. All very tastefully decorated. Everything you need is there, there are also some board games which are handy not that we used them. As the information says if your not very mobile it's not for you, but kept us fit. If ever back that way would definitely book again. Well done to the cleaner as was very clean in fact spotless.

During the main summer season there is the opportunity for trips around the bay in a speed boat. Glass bottomed boats also operate from Looe Harbour.

At the end of September Looe holds a music festival, with some well known bands. Details of the festival can be found on the internet.

It is close to the ancient picturesque village of Polperro. You can catch the bus from Looe instead of taking your car. Polperro also has a music festival in June each year.

Be sure to walk the coast path from Looe to Polperro.

There is a tennis and Bowls club a short walk from the apartment.

There are a number of events organised in Looe during the year, look at the Looe town website for details.
