Fantastic location!! Great town!!!
I recently stayed here with my wife, 3 children and my parents. The location is fantastic, positioned on a quiet street only a 7 minute walk to the beach which has plenty of bars and restaurants (including Trattoria Da Piero, one of the best restaurants we ate in in Sicily).
Modello beach was my favourite beach in Sicily, with crystal clear warm water, especially the eastern side of the beach.
There is plenty of free parking on the street outside the property.
There is a huge, private, wrap around terrace with beautiful panoramic views of the mountains, which was lovely in the evening with a refreshing cocktail.
The owner Francesco was very friendly and went out of his make to make sure our stay was as comfortable as possible. He always answers your calls, should you need to contact him, and he speaks good English. There was air conditioning in the 2 bedrooms which was nice when you go to bed, although you didn't need to use them during the day as you can open the doors and windows and you get a very refreshing through-draft. There are 2 bathrooms which is great for larger groups. Mondello is a beautiful, safe, lively town which is great for families or couples.
A small quibble. The apartment was listed as 3 bedrooms, it has 2 bedrooms and a double sofa bed in the living room. You can comfortably fit 7 people but 2 of them will be in the living room.
There was a slight issue with the electrics, if you want to use the air con, you have to unplug the water heater as these appliances use a lot of power. If you have all of them on at the same time the electric will cut off. Then you have to go to the ground floor and swich the circuit breaker back on, which only takes a minute. The water heater is on the terrace, Francesco will explain all of this to you. Please note; when you unplug the water heater you will still have hot water for around 24 hours. Somehow it heats the water and keeps it hot, so you can have the aircon on and still have hot showers. We kept the water heater plugged in during the day then unplugged it when we got back from the beach and we were never without hot water.
Although the property had this slight issue, I would definitly stay here again and would recommend it to any family or large group. The issues it had were reflected in the price, you will not find a peoperty this size in this location for that price.
