The Marina is very nice. The boat has issues with the toilets causing the entire boat to stink. We only stayed 1 night and contacted the owner in the morning that we could not stay because of the smell. They responded back latter that morning and said they were on there way but we had already left. My wife felt ill and we had this terrible odor all over we could not stay any longer. I contacted Josie and she said a vent pipe was disconnected and that it was a boat thing. I told her there was no way we would stay another night and asked for my deposit and a days refund. We were told not her fault and that there was no refund.
I never should have stayed, I detected an odor but she had just tried to clean the boat before we got there. She does not mention that MEN you have to sit to pee and NO POOPING in the toilets. Its a dry system and it stinks the boat is not clean or very well maintained.
We had a fabulous time staying on the Proud Gypsea. What a unique experience. Captain Josie was very responsive and helpful. Our family of four stayed on board for three nights. While it's a smaller, cozy boat setting, it was perfect for our family of four. We kept the windows open and enjoyed the sounds of water lapping as we slept. We had a family game night in the little kitchenette living area. Momma enjoyed going up top and watching the sun every morning while her boys "slept in" and it was nice to have access to laundry and the gym/shower facilities at the marina. We were able to just drive up the street to the Publix for some groceries as there is a small fridge to keep things in. And we ate several times at the Riverside Cafe. We visited Anna Maria Island one day and went in to visit "Snooty" the manatee at the Southwest Florida Museum and Aquarium/Planetarium. My boys loved it and to be honest... the parents did, too. Thank you, Captain Josie, for sharing your boat with us and giving us a lovely, unique experience for our first family trip to Florida. It was delightful. For those considering. Keep in mind. You are sleeping on a boat so it's not going to be a luxurious five star hotel. I kind of felt like it was upscale camping only on water. Our "boat living" neighbors were extremely friendly and helpful. If you're looking for a fun, new experience or just to get a taste of what living on a boat would be like, this is perfect.
the marina is the perfect location. close to bradenton nightlife but 1 mile across the bridge to sleepy palmetto. 1 mile away from aquarium, museums and planetarium. shopping cafes , fishing& sailing and charters .
we are close to beaches state parks, even horse riding on the beach. great happy hour specials and only 2 miles to mcKechnie park!
