Home is located at the end of a street in a quiet association. You won't be able to see your neighbors as it is quite secluded. It backs up to Hickory Run State Park with all its natural wonders such as boulder fields, hiking trails and water falls. It is close to hunting, fishing, white water rafting, skiing, paint ball, horseback riding, lakes and everything the Poconos has to offer.
This is a great location if you're looking to get out and have an adventure or if you're just looking for a quiet get-a-way. The home has a fireplace and wrap around deck allowing you to either snuggle up on cold winter nights or sit outside and enjoy nature Spring through Fall. Deer, bear and wild turkeys are often seen on and around the property.
The association in which this home resides does not have a pool or swimming lake however we are minutes away from Hickory Run State park's lake which we often frequent and highly recommend.
We continue to update the house. In October and November of 2015 we put rug on the steps leading to the lower level, installed a new dishwasher, installed a new 50" flat screen HD TV on an articulating arm in the lower level, and painted the living room, dining room, kitchen and hallways. In March of 2016, we added a large amount of stone to the driveway making it a little more level from the road. View the picture under "photos" to see the difference this made.
On June 23rd 2016, we got new dining room furniture and a new sleeper sofa. We love the new furniture and especially the sleeper sofa and know you will to. Nothing like the old style sleeper sofa with the springs you can feel when you lay down. This one has a memory foam mattress and is a pleasure to sleep on.
On August 14th 2016, we got a new queen size futon for the lower level bedroom. The larger futon makes it a lot more comfortable, both due to the larger size and upgraded mattress.
Please be aware that the new Turnpike entrance is EZPass Only!
We are from the Philadelphia area. Married with five children. I moved here in 2010 when I got a job in the area and our family loved it. I have since moved on in my career and moved back to the Philadelphia area but we couldn't let this house go. We are up all the time and with the new EZ-pass that just opened on the Turnpike, we can make it to our Pocono hide-a-way in no time. When it's not rented, you're sure to find us there.
Kerry Hummel purchased this house in 2010
We love it for it's seclusion and proximity to so many things. We take full advantage of all nature has to offer as you'll see from the pics and when you come to visit. Having an open floor plan for the living room, dining room and kitchen make it great for visiting with friends and family.
Wood burning fireplace. There's nothing like the smell of a good fire. Very large wrap around deck where you get to look at nothing but the forest and often see all types of wildlife.
This property feels like it's in the middle of a 200 acre piece of land yet all the fun is just minutes away. Hope to stay here again !
This house was great. In a very good location. The owner was excellent. We had a really good time staying here it's in a private area with lots of trees
Clean, comfortable and secluded. Slept our family of 6 comfortably. Everything worked as it should and we hand no issues. Checking in and out was a breeze. The area has a lot of activities. We white water rafted, did the 25 mile bike ride along the river, visited the boulder fields and the town of Jim Thorpe all in three days. Great vacation spot and my kids really enjoyed the activities. The area has a lot to offer and worth the drive from Michigan. We would rent this again if visiting the area and would certainly recommend it. Many thanks for the wonderful vacation.
We loved our stay. Close to jim thorpe, white water rafting and hickory state park with numerous hiking trails waterfalls and lake. The property was beautiful and Kerry was quick to answer any questions. Would love to return!!!
The house was exactly as described and a great home away from home for our family! It is conveniently located and close to nice hiking, biking and outdoor summer fun yet is very quiet and relaxed. Beds were comfortable and the house felt like home. We hiked to the large Boulder field and played in the lake at Hickory Run. We also drove to Ricketts Glen State Park and had a fantastic waterfall hike. We ended our stay with a white water rafting trip. Kerry was quick to answer any questions we had before and during our stay. Would definitely recommend this house and would stay here again!
If you are looking for a place with nothing around in sight but forest while having every modern convenience at the same time, then this is the place for you. From the kitchen, to the living room TV etc., to the amazingly comfortable bed, there is little drop off from what anyone would have at home. The place was VERY clean and very well maintained. Also, with the new turnpike exit, the turn into the neighborhood is literally right off the exit. Within a short distance of both Jim Thorpe and Blakeslee there is so much to do no matter what time of year it is . For my wife and I on this trip we just wanted to get away from everything for a few days, and this house was perfect for that. Very quiet, secluded, but as stated above within minutes of many things too. Kerry was wonderful and attentive, and responded quickly to all inquiries. I would definitely recommend this place and would also stay here again.
This is a secluded home that backs up to Hickory Run State Park. It is centrally located to multiple ski resorts, hiking, biking, whitewater rafting, paint ball, lake swimming, boulder fields and so much more.
