About Sarah Tothill

Nic and I moved with our daughter to France in 2013. We loved the lifestyle, weather and location of our lovely property, which we have lovingly restored. We love to offer tips and advice on visiting the area, and are always on hand if needed.

Why Sarah Tothill chose Corgnac-sur-l'Isle

Peyre St Front is an old masters house, and has plenty of characterful features. Based in the famous Perigord Vert region of the Dordogne, with access to many attractions, such as chateaux, lakes, local markets and beautiful countryside. We love the fact that all our guests can benefit from the large grounds and direct access to the river L'Isle. Most of our guests choose to eat and cook outside on the well equipped terrace which overlooks the pool, wildlife and river beyond. We are in easy reach of both Bergerac and Limoges airports - lots of historic chateaux are in the area and there is always a market on close by. The locals are really friendly and the village is extremely well kept, with beautiful walks along the river bank. We love exploring the area through a range of marked walkways.

What makes this house unique

The best bit, is that you can easily walk into the well kept local village, to get your bread coffee or chocolate in the morning - The sports bar is always a welcoming place to grab an early aperatif and the local restaurant offers home cooked french cuisine. On hand is a pharmacy and english seeking Dr for any emergency. The village also holds many events such as the Duck night in July, the Moules and frites night in August and a massive brocante at the end of August.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Perfect place for exploring the Dordogne. Away from all the crowds, yet close to Brantome, Excideuil, Hautefort, Ruffiac, Perigueux, etc. We never used the kitchen in the house, as there is a perfect one outside facing the BBQ, pool, field, and village beyond. Sarah & Nick (and Honey the dog!) were lovely, and when asked they gave us really useful advice about where to go, eat, etc. The kids loved the pool (age 4, & 6) but loved going down to the river and exploring even more! We are hoping to retun next year.

Beautiful gite and pool near a lively village

  • 5 of 5

We stayed for a week at this lovely property. The pool was a welcome relief from the hot weather. We used the outside terrace for all our cooking and enjoyed the views over the meadow. We tried many of the gourgeous restaurants in the area, plenty of markets to visit, and attractions for days out. We particularly loved St Jean and the restaurant over looking the chateau. Definitely recommend staying here for a true taste of France.

Petit coin de paradis

  • 5 of 5

We are so pleased to have found this delightful old French house which has been refurbished and very tastefully decorated/furnished to a high standard. Even better, its just a short walk to picturesque Corgnac which has restaurants, café-bars, and a few shops that reinforce the feeling of being part of rural village life.

There is so much to do, places to visit, sights to see – we wished we could stay for a month. After busy days out it was always good to return to the house to relax. Most evening , after a dip in the pool, we enjoyed cooking /eating on the covered terrace followed by a peaceful stroll down the garden to the river.

Sarah and Nic are the perfect hosts and we are grateful to them for telling us about all the best places to visit, eat etc. They have the perfect holiday home too !!
